Yeah, finally! Usually when you get a movie about a Tudor queen, it’s Anne Boleyn or Elizabeth 1. We did get “ The Spanish princess “ on starz about the earlier years of the first one but that’s as much as we get
I waited so desperately for this movie to finally come out in Germany but hearing that it didn't even make it to Great Britain until now is just insane.
I was waiting to see the movie before watching your analysis. I have fond memories of Haddon Hall and enjoy seeing it on film. I agree that Jude Law is one of the best Henrys we've seen. The film also might assume that the audience already knows who is who in this court and time. My husband kept asking me who everyone was. Glad you're back and getting yourself you again. Kitties definitely help!
Hi Alice, very nice review, I'm glad you're back to give us more enlightening and historical info on this entry. You mentioned possibly doing a best Henry the Eight countdown to number one, please do so we can all consider which portrayal gives us the best interpretation of one of the most recognizable and roughish monarchs to rule England.
Great stuff. The thought of seeing 😮Henry being smothered is a favourite. One for Catherine. Yeah girl Waiting to watch. Fabulous show today. Cheers 🇦🇺👍🏼
Thank you for the excellent review. I am SO annoyed I haven't been able to see this yet, and that we've had to wait so long for it to be released in the UK 😡 Now I'm looking forward to (hopefully) seeing it soon when it's out on Prime. The costumes look amazing
Nice to see you back! Interesting notes on costumes. Claire Foy's wrinkly dress fronts almost ruined Wolf Hall for me - almost as bad as Mary McDonnell's regretable mullet in Dances with Wolves!
At the beginning, when you were discussing its being released in the US before the UK, I was reminded of how when the Dragon Ball Z movie came out, and it was set in the US, and had no Japanese people in it, and my Japanese guy friends were rather put out.
As far as I'm aware she never got pregnant by him, part of the reason her marriage to T Seymour was controversial, was that IF she was pregnant with the kings child, how could they be sure it was the kings and not Seymours. But as far as history tells us, no she was never pregnant with the kings child.
As an American descendant of Mary Boleyn (through her grand-daughter, Anne Knollys West) I am very much looking forward to a Mary Boleyn video. I would love if you also included a little bit of how her grand-daughters Lettice & Anne were the ancestors for today's British Royal family & some of the Founding Fathers for the colony of Virginia (& the United States).
I really disliked how disgusting they made Henry… he was continuously sticking his fat fingers in women’s mouths for some reason (literally examining a woman’s teeth during one meal). I get what they were doing, but Henry was a snobby educated Renaissance prince, not a barbarian (in etiquette atleast lol). He even sent out for a chivalric executioner ffs! 😂
Oh shit not that true just saying but can we stop Americans getting films that’s not about there history. Know I no that ending it’s a shame they can’t do real history in these films
@@SamOty-pb2dp what does that even mean? Also no one is saying that the British museum is not full of loot but other museums do as well in every country. Also we are allowed to complain it’s not like America does not have its own history
When I heard about the ending, I knew I had seen it somewhere before! Simpsons predicting stuff yet again.
But when compared with Lady Jane Furry and Blood Socks and Royalty, this comes off as poetry.
We need a Howard solo movie, tbh. I believe her story is one of the saddest in history.
Yes! I’d likely be crying the whole time though
I am so happy about this review!
I am so happy to see a person I subscribe to in the comments section where we are both subscribers. 😀

Anne Boleyn is the least interesting imho. The clever survivors are. Or the actual victim, Catherine Howard, who was abused before and by H8.

The one thing I will say, the costumes were amazing, I didn’t see a bare head on anyone.
My favorite was the man’s jeweled hat she wore as regent in the privy counsel meeting… definitely best Tudor wardrobe I’ve ever seen.

I'm glad you liked it.
Haha I'm fantasizing about a Catherine Howard movie too - for decades now!! And you're right.. Sofia Coppola would be perfect for it.
i lost my mind at that one still with a farthingale. costuming went so hard
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I liked it too, in spite of the ending. Jude Law was an amazing Henry!!
Wake up babes, Alice of Sherwood is back ❤❤

One for Catherine. Yeah girl
Waiting to watch.
Fabulous show today.
Cheers

To Be fair, be the Cuts on Claire Foy's dresses might have been done to conceal her pregnancy during the filming of the miniseries.

It was so short in American theaters, I didn't get to see it. Is it streaming anywhere?
My local movie theater didn’t show it. I can’t wait to see it streaming if I can. I did read the book several years ago. I love Jude Law.
For your skin, have you considered a retinol? Maybe Tretinoin?
I will never doubt Jude Law again❣️
Couldn't hear what you were saying because of the clip at 12 mins in
Jane Boleyn got done dirty!
Just to ask but did Cathrine par get pregnant with Henry’s baby I imagine this is a fiction .

No she didn't
What/who is that you're drawing?
Great acting, costumes, scenery etc but dreadful inaccuracies. Awful ending.

I'm also from Mary Boleyn and her granddaughter Lettice.

Oh sure, we’ll stop making movies about British History as soon as the British History Museum is empty.
@@SamOty-pb2dp what does that even mean? Also no one is saying that the British museum is not full of loot but other museums do as well in every country. Also we are allowed to complain it’s not like America does not have its own history
@@SamOty-pb2dp Yeah... Obviously the British museum has a lot to do with American movie making...
