On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-16-23.
We’re looking at a 1969 Ford Boss 302 Mustang in Blue Paint. The car comes with a 302 CI V8 and a 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Randy Saba. Randy’s had this car since 2017. Randy shares this car was a Dealer Drag Car named Pony Tail and has less than 200 original miles. A Friend of his told him the car was offered for sale, and he took his Friends advise and bought this car. It’s good to have a Friend like that.

I can't imagine not driving the wheels off that! I would be the wrong owner...love it!
I'd probably drive it too. Happy to read a "love it!" :-)
That Boss means business, great car with the history.
Hi Darrin, Happy to share this Business Boss with you :-) Lou
The sound of that cammed 302 was amazing.

This is a beautiful kept car friend of mine bought a yellow 69 boss in 69 brings back good memories thanks Lou.
Hi Leroy, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Lou, the term 'Time Capsule' just scratches the surface of this car. Ordering a drag-only car without a radio seems normal, but ordering it with a remote control drivers side mirror cracks me up. I guess it's to keep track of the cars you're beating down the drag strip! Man would I love to see this car in action once again. MCACN needs it's own test track!! Cool video Lou.
Tom (and JudyAnn), Happy to share this "Time Capsule" with you :-) Hmmm, test track at MCACN...GOOD IDEA!
The sport mirrors we're std equipment on Bosses, Mach I's and Grande's, they all had drivers remote control, and an option on most other models depending on what was ordered.
I did not know that, thanks! Do you happen to know if you could have deleted the heater/defroster?@@jwass1825
Wonderful video Lou! Love this beauty.
When I was a teenager, I wanted to by a very used ‘72 Mach 1 - my dad vetoed the idea. So, as a result; I’ve always had a soft spot for this generation of Mustang.
Cool car and thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Hi Jeff, Happy to read "Love this beauty" :-) I think many Dad saw the wisdom of not letting us get muscle cars at a young age :-) My pleasure bringing you down memory lane. You're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile Yes, dad was right :(
Car was ordered and prepped as a drag car and, apparently, was never driven on the street. Amazing that Lou wasn’t at all interested in what class this car ran in, what kind of ET’s it ran, dealer installed speed equipment, axle ratio, etc. We did get a look at the original battery though!
lol imagine being related to the owner ...199 miles hopefully he's single with no kids
Hi Scott, I know what ETA it ran in F.A.S.T. category :-) Lou
In the trunk, there’s a sheet next to the Marti Report.
It reads; ‘Official Time Record at
Eastex Dragway 13.04 S’
NHRA Class 10 F/S
The 13.04 pass was recorded at the Eastex Dragway in Porter, Texas. The timeslip doesn't have the date or trap speed, unfortunatelly.
Was there perhaps some sort of advantage in the rules for the class to running the little BOSS 302 instead of for example a 428CJ Mach 1?
Hi Lou, that guys 302 Mustang is a gem, and only 199 miles it is an outstanding car in every way, an other great video.👍👍.
Hi Philip, Happy to read you enjoy this "gem" :-) Appreciate the kind words on this video, Lou
Great looking Mustang!
Hi THROTTLEPOWER, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Mustang :-) Lou
Wow, that is incredible!!!! That IS a treat to see that car and hear it run. I love your videos. Thank you for sharing it.
Hi Stacy, Happy to read "Wow, that is incredible!!!!" :-) I appreciate "I love your videos". Very encouraging. You're welcome, Lou
Sounds awesome what a rare timepiece, helped a guy years ago source the correct carb for his yellow Boss 302, it was proving to be impossible for him to find and last part he needed, my first car was a 73 Pinto with 4 cyl, then i rebuilt a 289 and hot rodded it, never was beat street racing that car, the Boss was another level for sbf, then i switched to bowties and never went back
Hi hardtail, Happy to read you appreciate this "timepiece" :-) Sounds like a fun V8 Pinto too, Lou
Loud and proud that one is a great survivor was amazing to see the miles on the odometer great survivor
Hi Larry, "Loud and proud" Well said, Lou
Yeah Lou, who could NOT love a sound like that?!! Such raw beauty and power. THANK GOD for the all American V8!! The 'addiction' continues - Thanks again Lou!
Yeah lonnyjaw, I love that sound too :-) You're welcome, Lou
I understand trying to keep the miles off it. Does make you wonder. If it would be ok to drive it. But it’s his toy. So, the engine sounds great. Thanks for sharing Lou.
💯👍
Hi Terry, I'm the wrong person to "keep the miles off it". I like to drive and ride in them. However, if it wasn't for someone not driving it, I probably would not be sharing this one with you. You're welcome, Lou
🙋♂️ THX LOU,RANDY,PAM 🤗🥶STORY, AND 🥶COOL 🚙👍💚💚💚
Happy to share this story with you :-) You're welcome Budget Audiophile Life-long :-)
The best of the best! I love these low mileage Boss's, especially when those miles were put on 1/4 mile at time. Mr. & Mrs. Saba have one that checks all the boxes and it sounds great, too. Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, "The best of the best!" High praise. You're welcome, Lou

Hey Robert, Happy to read you enjoy the looks and sounds from this car :-) Lou
Awesome ❤😊!!
:-)
What an awesome Mustang drag car and the super low mileage is testament to taking great care of it over the years. This '69 is especially nice and one of the best stangs ever. Hey thanks guys this feature, she sounds awesome too.
Hi Bruce H, Happy to read you think this Mustang is "awesome" :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
Lou, Lou, skip to my Lou - this pony is a darling!
NICE!
@@loucostabile That blue paint still shines like jewelry! In fact the entire car looks and runs like it just left the workshop in 1969!
Awesome mustang Lou
Happy to read this one is "Awesome" acts2211
Great video Lou! My first car was a 70 302 boss exactly like the one in the background! I got it in 1984 which made it 14 years old! It was very affordable then. Sure wish u still had it today.
Hi Timothy, Your 1st car was a 70 302 Boss! You knew how to pick them! NICE! Lou
@@loucostabile I actually got lucky and bought it off my uncle on payments lol! I gave 1500 bucks for it which in 84 was a lot of money
Wow, now that is definitely rare
My pleasure sharing this "definitely rare" car with you :-)
Great video.
Thank you fangin2u
Its best time was 13.04 at Eastex Dragway in Porter Texas during 1 of the less then 5 races it attended
Hi Rory, Thank you for doing the research, Lou
Nice looking....
Happy to read this car is "Nice looking...." :-)
Hi Lou 👋 Lou is there some type of a "lift kit" on this 302 ? Love this EXCEPT,,,,,,,,,,,,, for those gawdy rims. The boys down in the paint department could have matched the body color with those rims.
Hi David, Looks like there is a lift kit on it. Painters like to be creative, Lou
Kinda surprised to see the tach set at only a 6000 RPM redline. These were high RPM engines especially with an aftermarket cam. Maybe the valve springs are stock and that is the limiting factor? My first car in 1970 was a cherry used ‘70 Mach 1 so the ‘69-70 fastback ‘Stangs have always been a favorite.
Hi Dan, Thanks for sharing what you notice. Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for sharing, Lou
Thanks Lou that was great, would have loved to know what the quarter mile times were,
You're welcome Rory. The quarter mile times are FAST! :-)
I prefer this "churh " where trues are told.. 😊
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
💕 👍 💪💪💪
:-)
💯🔥😎🔥💯
:-)
Special car.
I agree.
6k red line, I watched a guy run a Maverick with a Boss 02 that launched at 9.5k, the T/A cars ran to 9.2k.
Hi J Wass, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
with a rev limiter 1st gear must've been gone in a blink
How could ask the owners NOT drive this one.... not I
Thanks Lou
If it was mine, I'd end up driving it once in a while :-) You're welcome Bruce.
Hopefully you got the story on the boss bronco next to the mustang?😊
Did not see the Caretaker for that one :-(
Nice nickname for a Mustang. If I were to buy a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, I'd name her "Pigtail".
:-)
Well of course it is low mileage, Lou, it was only driven a quarter mile at a time! LOL 😆.
You're right Daniel.
199 miles? 🤔That works out to be nearly 800 hard launches
Thank you for sharing the math.
@@loucostabileThat’s a lot of burn outs. There should be 10 pounds of rubber up in the rear wheel wells.
weird lol ,,, nice car though
Thanks for viewing and sharing.
I’m curious what he paid for that car?
No idea.
@@loucostabile out of my league lol , happy Saturday
I misread the title of this as drug dealer car.
....yikes
