What that river down there tells me, is that if there is a flood, that water would rise up very quickly and potentially trap anyone on the other side, or even drown them. That is quite a dangerous cave dive. Id recommend replacing those old ropes so anyone in the future has better ropes to use, and making sure they are secured in such a way as to not get rubbed (which will eventually cut them) and also to last a long time. I've never seen a cave that had so much mud on the floor walls and ceiling. You would think it would have any dirt would have washed off the walls. Does all that mud mean that whole place has floods from time to time?
I was in this cave many times about 20 years ago. It was a mud pit back then also. Also anyone planning a visit should be prepared. These guys make the cave seem small and fast to travel in but its actually huge and so slow moving. My fav part of the cave was wading the river.
@@rchrdjms62 i do not know the answer to this. The entrance to the cave is basically a hole in the ground. You climb down into it. Im not sure of the answer to your question though, maybe someone else could weigh in on it. I honestly had never thought of this until u mentioned it. None of the other caves ive been in are like that.
sorry for the late reply but the answer to your question is that every surface that is covered in mud has been underwater at one point when the cave floods. when it rains hard the water enters the cave and mixes with clay deep inside the cave and becomes suspended and as the water rises it coats the walls and if it gets high enough in spots the ceiling! in some spots the water must rush through quickly though as it doesn't collect mud even though they are plenty deep enough to be underwater during flooding. it would be very interesting to know what the stream looks like as the cave floods. does it turn into a raging river or does the river simply start to back up and fill up the cave from wherever it flows to as the water table rises in the area
