A hit? 55 mil plus marketing. This thing has been all over the place in billboards and commercials.
They saying any money made is gravy as this was budgeted and bought for streaming
Zendaya has a nice following but I still don't get the appeal of the film.
They did show up for the opening weekend. $25 million global is nothing to sneeze at, but the film cost $55 mil+
Even mid-budget movies like this are being made for too much money for the kind of film it is. Anything higher than $25-30 million seems ridiculous to me.
Agreed, 10-20 mill max on these type of films!
If this movie was in similar circumstances that "The Ministry of Ungentalmanley Warfare" is in, then I understand that rationale, but that's not the case. Unless Amazon MGM didn't pay for the bulk of the production budget and/or license streaming rights to other streamers beyond themselves, I don't see how it's any different than what Disney does.

Not sure what you’re watching, but it’s been a huge flop financially. They covered the $10 million that they needed to pay her, but are massively short breaking even why would you not know this? Very poor content

Your numbers are accurate. Your opinion of them is off. It’s a horrible opening and Z is supposedly really sweating it because it’s her first big payday and maybe her last.
It’ll be interesting to see if this story, which is very pro “team rainbow“ will have legs to it at all. Odds are it won’t. But we will see, anything is possible.
