Really liked the C11 kits which I applied on my latest build. Looking forward to which extra details are created by you based on this video and lift this 956 kit to an upper class of beautiness. Your detail kits are top notch, keep up the good work.
A two-piece front wheel would be a nice addition to the car. So if you are planning to add them to your detailing kits, I'd be in for a set. And, who knows, if Tamiya notices that group C cars are a thing again, they might eventually release a Mazda 787B again? This one also had wheel covers iirc. If they are the same as with the Porsche, you would have done some work in advance. 😉
Another nice project in the making, Rob 👏 I can understand the removal of current brand of "poison", but for defunct brands (the "R" brand is dead since 1999 based on wikipedia), I clearly do not 🤔 Anyway, it's probably an endless debate 😅
I bought and applied your full C11 detailing kits and they really do add some scale authenticity to that car. I would definitely be interested in adding as many detailing parts to the 956 as possible, including diffuser and wheels/tyres if you make them. Going to hold fire on the authentic sponsor decals, as the upscaling nearly doubles the price. The supplier may in time make a dedicated 1 1/0 scale version. Keep up the good work
6:02 The rear wheel is not correct-it is a re-issue of the Mazda wheel. The factory used six spoke magnesium wheels on their cars but most privateers used BBS wheels.
You're right. Can be got away with but digging through the kit this morning I realised the mounting system for the 5 spoke is really not nice, piercing a spoke. The C11 6 spoke rim is much nicer. So sourcing C11 wheel sets could be an option but I'm guessing they're as rare as hens teeth. Also the Group C front rims are too wide for the supplied foams. So making my own, I can fix that. I've already a couple of options in my head to get around all this, neither are BBS as I personally don't like BBS wheels. Odd huh? :D
Will you try a clipless body? It’s pretty easy to stack neodymium magnets on the body posts and have a stub of the post to interface with the magnets on the body. It works quite well for on road RC’s. The new 911 Dakar rally pack livery has “Roughroads” the replace the cigarette brand which is a bit silly
Keep an eye on my Instagram or Facebook page. The race entry decal is already done and I’ll be working on getting the rest made for the 1983 1st and 2nd place car ;) Instagram is needabiggershed’
Apart from the missing Rothmans logo, the box art and other images of the finished product are missing the Shell and Dunlop logos as well as any tire sidewall decal.
Thanks! All on the shop. If I remember offhand. 20 Euro to NL for the 956 kit&bearing set. The details kits aren't ready yet of course :) I forgot to mention in the video, the 956 kit will also give 10 Euro discount on the details kit when they're ready. www.needabiggershed.com
Just a question for all OCD blokes out there and the small little sticker issues, Are you driving these Tamiya rc cars like they are designed for or just putting them on the shelf collecting dust.
I know for a fact with C11 kit sales, many many of these details kits I make are for static display. Actually racing with all these parts on there? they're going to get knocked off sooner to later.
A big yes from me regarding the two piece front wheels. I’ll be after one of your detail kits for sure.

My Poorboys speed run shell. Really want that Newman livery. Great video.
Rob is back at it. Good stuff!

Porsche likely would have used Ronal wheels
