The Sega Genesis / Megadrive was awesome. I remember being totally blown away when seeing Ghouls and Ghosts. The games still stand up today.

paul patti well like Whitney I'm certainly not like most girls then as I love to play video games - I grew up on these 16bit gems and it's so relaxing to play for a few hours. Not all girls are the same. We are out there!

It's name was rescue where we had to make red uniform hostages/firemen follow us back to our spaceship and teleport them.
We had a blue coloured spaceship.

genesis is the master at platforms even better than snes which is very good at times!!
Good video, but there are some fixes, if you allow me: Aladdin, Fatal Rewind, Garfield, James Pond III, Judge Dreed, Jungle Book, Marko's Magic Football, Marsupilami, Phantom 2040, Risky Woods, Rolo to the Rescue, Shadow of the Beast II, The Smurfs, Spider-man Animated Series, Stargate, Tale Spin, Taz in Escape From Mars, Tiny Toons Adventures, Toe Jam & Earl 2, Toy Story, Vectorman, Vectorman 2, Warlock and X-Men 2 came-out in Brazil at same year that USA and Europe. And Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 were launched in Brazil at 1991 and 1992, respectively.

Thanks for this I've just found the game that's been on my mind for 30 years, it was ESWAT, very vague memory of a guy in blue and a side scroller and boom there it was.

Yes, I do, now that Project Lunar is in beta version :)
However, there are some problems with games from different region, so you need to force it to be from you region. Or you will get an error or similar.

At least half of these games are not platformers. Anyway, after watching this and the SNES video back to back, I think SNES had the better library of platformers. The Genesis had some bangers, though.
Megadrive/Genesis was always going to be the better playing experience though.
SNES control pad makes your hands ache from the get go.
I really enjoyed this vide, but I have to mention that Magical Hat Turbo Flying Adventure is a glaring omission. Especially as you included Decapattack which was basically the butchered verison for the Western market.
Wardner (1991)in japanese, the game that i finished when i was 6 years old and the gameshops considered me a prodigious child ! lol. ... in fact I'm 33 nowadays and can't beat this fucking game anymore aswelll Tazmania, difficult as hell.....

Still cant find the game i played when i was a lot younger, it had a male and a female characters to play with and they had guns and some parts of the game you were traveling with only arms shown on screen and you could not hit the walls... i searching for ages for this game.. any help? thank you
I am bere for the same game i Guess. The weapons were all different right? Like, i Remember that those characters shooted from swords things like Rings and stuff...

Virtual Gaming Library In fairness, Two Crude Dudes and the two Splatterhouse games are beat-‘em-ups as well, but they were included in the video.

Appreciate the video, but a good portion of these games are not platformers in the traditional sense. They must have included all games with elements of platforming
Many of these games are more in the beat'em up or action-shooter category, not platforming.
2:52 If Atomic runner had normal controls it would have been a great game.
Some of those games aren't platformers.

@@retRO7xp it has a catslevania feel to it the character fight with a whip but the character is more Indiana Jones than belmont... the ending has him being chased by a boulder

No Phantasie Star 2, 3, 4, Speedball 2 Herzog 2, Syndicat, Super Hang on, more wonder boy, Landstalker, shining force1, 2 and many more! Go and make a better list!
How the hell are they platform games? Hang On is racing. Shining Force is an RPG. Speedball 2 is futuristic sports. They have nothing to do with a list of platform games.
Side-Scrollers =/= Platformers 😡
