Welcome to my world. Fantastic job of taking a cruddy old mower and making it a work of art. Great job. You are very talented. Thanks for sharing Sharon as well. Stay safe.
After watching loads of butlers empire and retro vids I can only say😊what a lovely family very interesting people …I come home folks turn off the sad news that’s repeated all day and watch these great people…
I know Paul, What a pain. Especially as the coil was duff as well, Never had a duff coil and the new pattern Governor springs are stronger than the originals so it'll need slowing down further
Buen video y buen trabajo Martín, como todos los que haces. Mal reestreno tuvo el cortacésped, al final problema solucionado, sigue así y un saludo desde España.
Wow awesome job Martin one of a kind that mower nothing but the best for our Sharon i did laugh though when she first tried it mower was running that fast her little legs was going 10 to the dozen 😁😁👍👍👍👍
Martin, some 35 years ago my B&S rewind cord broke. While disassembling the pull handle I found only a single knot wrapped around short length of metal rod. I usually make one from a short bit of nail, or 10-12 ga wire up to 12mm long. Run the cord through the pull handle, make up the knot / rod combination, reassemble and "Robert is your fathers brother." Narragansett Bay
Mower looks great, and I noticed the chrome effect on the top cover better on this vid, time for me to build an oven, subbed to Gary earlier so I will have to catch up on his vids now, well that grass didn`t need cutting after the dry weather, but you`ll have to get Sharon out there in a few days after this rain, best wishes to you both.
Martin, you know the engine really doesn't have to run. You can pull the rope a few times and then move it forward the length of the mower and pull the rope a few times again, and repeat 'til you get the yard mowed. There is always a way...lol. Don't you just hate it when Murphy shows up! Thumbs Up!
Mower looks a treat mate....I did laugh when cord pulled through handle 🤣 these things happen....it's good you keep it in video 👍👍👍.....Sharon will have the grass cut in no time lol
This is super cool to see that her mower is done and it is nice to see that she really enjoys it got a love these type of mowers I had a mower similar to this one once Think it was branded under Toro if I remember correctly and I nick named it the part swap because it kept eaten Parts like crazy
It's nice to see it's not only me things go wrong for I was beginning to wonder lol glad you left all the hiccups in the video Martin still can't believe that Sharron hasn't twiged your plan for getting away with cutting the lawn by making a custom mower as a gift for Sharron lol great job mate Rob
I'm still laughing at everything that went wrong.Sorry Martin but it was funny. I really thought Sharon was heading for the nettles at one point but luckily she stopped. Thank you so much I don't normally win anything. Will send an email.
You can release the engagement power handle and turn manually then reengage the handle. Either way you’ll get a workout. If she doesn’t like it well look for a mower with a speed transmission 1-3
Really nice job Martin lad and a bloody good laugh too ! Try a figure 8 knot on the cord and it will not pull through, (poor old lawn looks a bit "fred bear"). Thanks for the entertainment!
its a belter martin, done a cracking job on it,poor sharon ,i`m sorry i laughed when she had her first go on it,nearly pulled her of her feet lol,all the best peeps ...............dougie
It would ,if they do,that might be a future thing for you, custom lawnmowers ! Lol !! ,i think that would take up too much of your time ,but would be good to see at least another one ? ,your the boss 👍
Hi martin ive been doing a little restoration on a mower i re sprayed it and used 2k lacquer...but it seems to scratch very easily. Im probably doing something wrong but ive used primer aswell
@@retrorestore yes definitely added the hardner left it overnight before re assembling the lawnmower...maybe im not leaving it long enough to go hard..or i may of got my measures wrong
Love it....always things going wrong at the worst time! Have you ever tried making your own cable ends? I've seen a few vids on RUclips but never tried it myself
Shame to get it dirty! I'm using one vitually identical, a Homebase special with B+S engine, it started running very oddly, nearly stalling but restarting itself on a regular 15 second cycle... I found a massive accumulation of grass debris under the air filter housing clogging up the govener levers and springs!
Hey Martin !! Great video love them !! Just a quick question I have a Mountfield sp470, over heating problems, been serviced etc nd grass blown out between fins!! Can’t get my head around why it’s overheating, starts perfect cutting good just piping hot !! Thanks
I take it that the service was carried out by a dealer so I would hope everything is ok. Have you actually checked the temp with a laser thermometer around the engine just to make sure that the temps are within range? do that first and take it from there.
Hi Martin fantastic work...why is sharon rugged up when its 35 degrees?? Was the reveal done on a much cooler day? Or was it because of the powder coating oven..??If so your area seems to have huge temp fluctuations. Here is oz sydney we get temps in the high 30s during summer with no reprieve for many days even weeks. I hate summer in Sydney. Give me winter anyday...
Hi what ever happened to the tgb r50x you got to 5 shows , I've got one someone cut off the centre stand , I only noticed it after I bought it lol the bike is a headache I prefer piaggio scooters
Martin A lovely job on the mower you would not know it was not brand new if u took it out the box my wife jackie does the mowing now she will want our mower with her name on it now I am sure of that Phil and jackie
VERY Nice Job 100% -- You Do Amazing Stuff. I work On Mowers & Ride On Mowers E.t.c All Small Engines. I Like Your Attention To Detail. But I Don't Like The Gold Plastic Wheel Covers . As Long As Sharon Is Happy That's The Main Thing. You Might Want To Get Her A Key Start Mower Sometimes The Old Pull Start Mowers Can Be Difficult And Stubborn For A Woman To Start, Otherwise GREAT JOB.. A Good Way To Get Your Misses To Do The Grass, Build Her A Custom Mower 😂🤣 💌 It . Cheers From Australia
Well done for not editing out the faults Martin made it really funny, a lot of youtubers would have edited it to make it look as tho everything was perfect straight away. Are the levers on the handle the right way round, on mine the lever on the front is for drive and the rear one (nearest to ther operator) is the deadman. Just looks a bit cackhanded. Nice job on the mower tho mate 👍
Hi Martin turned out well, you cracked me up with the high revs at first, Linford Christie couldn't have caught up with Sharon she was off ?? you wont need a diet at that rate, you would end up like a been pole in no time he he, ATB Guy's, Wayne.
Great stuff! From a Yank, learned a lot, laughed a lot. Thank you and God bless you Martin and Sharon.
Glad you enjoyed it
According to my wife my new favourite word is “unbelievable.” No idea where I have got that from ....😂
It’s at times like this that I’m proud to be British. Great stuff!

Thank you so much 😁
Iove the idea of a 'reveal' when its 'nearly finished'. Smashing job.
Mower looks great. I am glad you showed the 'false starts' I thought this kind of thing only happened to me...
Fantastic lawnmower build unbelievable 🤣🤣. Plus I was crying with laughter at the first start up 😂😂😂

The curse of Sharons pull cord strikes again! Looks brilliant Martin superb vid
I know Paul, What a pain. Especially as the coil was duff as well, Never had a duff coil and the new pattern Governor springs are stronger than the originals so it'll need slowing down further
retrorestore I noticed that the governor springs were shorter on my own mower recently. looks brilliant i'll share this vid on my channel
27:25 `Just hold it ...don't pull it !` Lol, fantastic job well done, the both of you, love your channel .
Good job Martin, enjoy your new mower Sharon.

Great job Butler as ever did you use to be on the buses lol ,good to see Sharon as well
You can release the engagement power handle and turn manually then reengage the handle. Either way you’ll get a workout. If she doesn’t like it well look for a mower with a speed transmission 1-3
Awesome video Martin Mower is Great and its always the way with the rain lol

Great video Martin. That mower is turbo charged lol, you need a trailer behind it with a seat on lol.
Cheers, Jeff.
Haha, Jeff, She'll get used to it.
Nicely done Martin you will have to convert it into a ride on mower for Sharon
Hi martin would you believe my single not in my trimmer did the same thing just today !!! The mower is beautiful you do such nice work ...

Thanks Martin your a gent just subscribed Carnot wait to see more vids 👍
Thanks for the sub James
Really nice job Martin, I use a tie wrap loosely round the dead mans handle ,saves the hassle of keeping it held in
Stop fretting when things go a little astray. The lawnmower is a wee belter your Mrs deserves no less Sir 👍 Tam.
There you go sharon, at last. You can get a great work out with that mower.
Really nice job Martin lad and a bloody good laugh too ! Try a figure 8 knot on the cord and it will not pull through, (poor old lawn looks a bit "fred bear"). Thanks for the entertainment!
Thanks 👍
I was wondering if you were gonna live through those problems, seems like you were tiring your self out haha, great job!
Great job Martin, isn't Sharon a lucky lady.

Another great video Martin 👍
Bound to have a few flaws on it's maiden voyage mate but you sorted it in the end and it looks and sounds fabulous. Good on ya buddy
Brilliant Martin you couldn't make that up 😂😂😂 👌
As long as if gave you a giggle Jamie lol
Is this Martin's mower mayhem or Benny Hill.
VERY hard to tell the difference sometimes, 😂
Looks great ! I wonder if people do custom lawnmower shows ! 👍😀
That would be cool!
It would ,if they do,that might be a future thing for you, custom lawnmowers ! Lol !! ,i think that would take up too much of your time ,but would be good to see at least another one ? ,your the boss 👍
Looks to nice to use. You should build one for yourself too and park them out front.
Damnn ... that's bling. I would definitely cut grass a lot more with one of those;)
Classic stuff . The coil took a turd . Baby went for a pull down the garden.
Haha Pete, Just got to lower the speed a bit more. Pattern springs are stronger than the originals.
Well fair point . Have a few coils go bad here but off old crap . Waiting for Mick to go for a spin down the road on his Ransomes.
Been looking forward to this.
Martin that’s outstanding work mate well done 👌😁
Woow what a transformation great job yous to are so funny 😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi martin ive been doing a little restoration on a mower i re sprayed it and used 2k lacquer...but it seems to scratch very easily.

2K lacquer should go very hard. Have you added the hardener bud?
@@retrorestore yes definitely added the hardner left it overnight before re assembling the lawnmower...maybe im not leaving it long enough to go hard..or i may of got my measures wrong
Yes, perhaps a bit to high rev.
But a very nice work and result. I am impressed.
Thanks 👍 Yes, I will lower the speed some more.
Love it....always things going wrong at the worst time! Have you ever tried making your own cable ends? I've seen a few vids on RUclips but never tried it myself

Great job, looks awesome Martin!....Is it not needed to put a lacquer layer after the decals for extra protection?
No need, I was going to but its not necessary.
