@rvsharp No the Vararam tune is not already loaded. You will need to hook your tuner up to your computer first, and then you will need to purchase the air intake tune which is only about $3-4 while the tuner is still hooked up to the PC. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe you have to install the performance tune in the car first, once that is installed, then you should be able to install Vararam93 etc tune. If you have problems, email or call superchips. They helped me out with a similar issue.
I actually sanded the the whole engine cover with several different grades of sandpaper because I wanted to try to make it smooth rather than textured. I'm happy with the way it turned out. Thanks
I wish I could have seen a video before I bought mine too, but it was really pretty easy. Not sure if you are buying NEW or USED superchips, but if you are buying used, make sure that the person you are buying the tuner from has returned the their car back to stock or you won't be able use the tuner without paying superchips $100 to reset it. Other than that it's just a matter of downloading the Superchips program from their website, creating an account, and downloading the CAI tune.
@tallerthanormal I bought mine used from someone on the one of the G8 forums. Now I wish I had a custom tune because it will gain you more HP, but I didn't want to be tied down to a particular performance shop if I had problems. Yes the main reason I bought the SC tuner was to disable the DOD. When my car was stock I couldn't tell it was switching from 4 to 8 cyl, but when I added exhaust, I could hear it and it was annoying. Yes I prefer transmission stock for daily driving.
@rvsharp That's awesome to hear that you are so happy with it. I love mine too. Throttle response is much better too. Most importantly, the DOD/AFM is not annoying anymore with my Borla catback since I disabled it. Enjoy life, and enjoy the car.
Yes it does make it a little better especially when you are in sport mode, but I still notice the occasional hesitation when taking turn. The tuner also allows you to choose a percentage for the transmission pressure which makes it's shift harder. In fact, I had mine set to only 25% and when I floored it from a dig, it would chirp shifting to 2nd.
@sprintnking they are actually just vinyl decals. I played around with masking tape until I came up with a stripe thickness and gap between the stripes that I liked. Then I worked with a graphics shop and had them make them with my dimensions.
@DJK290 Yes you can reset back to stock. In fact, the Superchips tuner has to download your stock tune settings before it will let you install your superchips tuned settings.
@DJK290 Yes they are model specific however the same tuner covers several different models. You should go to the superchips website or call them to find out what you need.
@DJK290 It was a little intimidating at first but knowing what I know now, you really shouldn't have anything to worry about. I mainly bought my Superchips so I could disable my AFM(active fuel management) 4cyl vs 8cyl mode, but I also wanted to see if it would make the transmission a little better. It was worth it to me because the car is much better than stock, throttle response is better too. It doesn't compare to getting a tune at a performance shop, but it's cool to be able to change it
@bsowinski902 you have to download the superchips program on your computer and set up an account. Then you will need to connect your programmer to your computer and you will have to purchase the intake that you need. I believe it's around $8. Then the intake tune will be loaded onto your programmer and when you program your car, the intake option should be there to select. It was a little confusing but you can check the SC forums
@DJK290 Superchips has other CAI's to choose from too, I don't know all of them but I know you can get Vararam, Rotofab, K&N, and some others. They are purchased through superchips when you hook up your tuner to your PC. My Vararam tune was only about $2.99.
@rvsharp I wasn't planning on adding headers to this car, but you never know. I had a GTO before I got my G8 and I had headers, exahaust, cam, tune and it was fun, but I just don't know if I want to do that all again. I have heard good things about the kooks headers though.
@CSRAProductions I got the tuner from a member on a a G8 forum that I belong to called grrrr8.net. I bought the Vararam cold air intake from a sponser on the website. You should check it out, there is LOTS of good information on G8's
@rvsharp Funny you say that. That is the same reason why I initially bought SC tuner too. I didn't notice it when I had stock exhaust, but I installed Borla Cat back, I had that strange drone too. I know exactly what you are talking about.
@jb102310 noob question but how did the cortex know u had a vararam intake?? i have a roto fab and am ordering a cortex tomorrow, how do u program it to a certain intake??
I would recommend HP tuners because you can modify the tune much more in HP tuners. I mostly bought the superchips to disable the active fuel management and I got a pretty good deal on it.
Yes there are a few other CAI tunes available. Not sure about airaid but I know rotofab is one of them. You will need to check superchips website for more details. Thanks
the purpose is to tune the computer too use higher octane fuel and more air to produce more power... if compression is good.... more fuel + more air = more power and better response. So the difference is what you want... to go "faster" or in my case is better "towing" when im towing or better fuel economy when im not.

Did you smooth the center section of the engine cover? If so, how? Looks clean btw!!!
Are the red accents by your hood painted or some sort of vinyl sticker? I'm getting a black GT and that looks amazing!!
@rvsharp I wasn't planning on adding headers to this car, but you never know. I had a GTO before I got my G8 and I had headers, exahaust, cam, tune and it was fun, but I just don't know if I want to do that all again. I have heard good things about the kooks headers though.
@jakevanella11 I haven't actually had it dyno'd but if I had to guess I would say maybe 30-35 with the air intake and catback exhaust that I have.

hey where did you buy that tuner..im getting a G8 GT soon and im looking to do some easy mods... oh and more info on the air intake please..thanks!
@sprintnking thanks for the compliment too.
@raulred93 No this tuner is only for GM cars and trucks
The gauges came like that. I think it's a factory option because my seats are also 2 tone red and onyx
i heard this tuner makes that a6 transmission really perform a lot better, is that true? like a noticeable improvement over stock behavior
@averageman67 Yes you can view and clear engine codes
@jb102310 noob question but how did the cortex know u had a vararam intake?? i have a roto fab and am ordering a cortex tomorrow, how do u program it to a certain intake??
@jb102310 alright yea. i will check that out. thanks man!
@DanSVT03 I'm no expert or mechanic, but I would have to say NO it won't work for CAM. You would be better off getting a true performance tune.
@gixxerell. I haven't ever dyno'd the car so I really don't know
Can this tuner tune the G8 for a cam upgrade? Like a livernois stage 1 cam?
so the speed limiter is completely off if you put the setting on "raise"?
@mudders1000 Thanks, I'm happy with it :)
What's the max HP since u done this stuff to the car??
@boukmanx I am not really sure what value is actually set.
You still have this tuner?
Would u suggest hp tuners.? Or did u get this superchip at a deal
I would recommend HP tuners because you can modify the tune much more in HP tuners. I mostly bought the superchips to disable the active fuel management and I got a pretty good deal on it.
Where can u order this super chip from?????
@philjbabin Nope. Didn't pull any fuses
are there other tunes available for other cold air intakes like airaid and rotofab?
Yes there are a few other CAI tunes available. Not sure about airaid but I know rotofab is one of them. You will need to check superchips website for more details. Thanks
is the new flashpaq f5 better?
would it work on a 07 suzuki forenza?
Ok I see makes sense but can someone explain what's the purpose or difference ?
murdered 5ohh whats your instagram lol

is the new flashpaq f5 better?
Jonathan Rodriguez I have the f5 I see little to no difference
