You should replace the electronic battery isolator with constant on solenoids. They look like the old Ford starter solenoids but are more heavy duty. Much more reliable.
@@JohnVH-diy That was over a year ago...once you are caught up with this build series you will find it no longer exists along with all of the factory wiring....
Once you get on top or caught up with the "to do" list you are just left with general maintenance like grease zerks, oil changes, filter changes. I am beyond happy with this build and grateful I took a leap of faith to build one of these out.
Very nice... looks like I'll have yet another task to perform on Malachai. Thanks for the info and advice. I'll be checking into mine this weekend. Cheers!
Love your channel, great stuff, Is that an after market steering wheel on Abel? is it all metal or covered with rubber? You are ready for any reason to bugout.
Hi Ray. Thank you! I am currently running a freightliner hub with a 5 bolt 18" truckers steering wheel. Abel comes in really handy for bugging out. Check out the Abel playlist to watch them in chronological order. Thanks for watching!
I'm super glad I found this channel, it's going to be a great resource to me in the very near future! I recently bought a 99 Freightliner MT45 step van to build out into a vehicle to travel the world in. I was going to try to make it more rugged, kind of like an off-road SWAT van, but then a few months after I got my van I discovered the world of global expedition vehicles build from old military trucks and now I can't imagine building anything else. I have my eye on an m1083 6x6 for $3k on GovPlanet.com. Did you buy from there, and if so how was the bidding process? Did you pay much more than it started at? Was there much competition? Did the bidding feel rigged in any way?
Hi Vagabond. We have a facebook page that might give you some good ideas if you are on there. Quite a few resellers on there too. If you watch my build series from the time I got the s680 shelter up until this most recent episode I think you will find some tips and tricks that will save you time and money. Learn from my mistakes and benefit from my successes..... Thanks for the kind words and the subscription! :D
Not interested....we had one and the wind lifted it up and dropped it in the neighbors yard. I am lucky it did not damage their property and they found it humorous.
Love it. I can just imagine how many people stop and want to talk to you about the rig
Hi do you have the part number handy for the Air Dyer filter kit from ebay? Volvo part: thanks you for showing that off!

What battery isolator??
What you called the diode. You cleaned the battery cable ends under the spare tire. If that goes bad replace it with a solenoid.

Constant P.M's on those trucks, but they re worth it.
