I think it would be so fun to build an arcade cabinet but I'm such a novice when it comes to technology and building. I let the experts do it (like yourself) and then I benefit by playing the games! I do enjoy seeing the circuits and the boards like you showed off in this video.
It is super fun to build and restore full size cabinets, and although it can seem to be an overwhelming task, all you really need is motivation and the internet! A good starting point would be to find a fully working machine (even if you don't like the game it comes with) and just play around with it. Make sure The CRT is is good working condition, as I think that monitor repairs are the most challenging part of the Arcade game hobby... My first cabinet was a shell with a broken monitor. NOT a good way to start if you have no electronics experience (but it can be done... Ask me!) Thanks for the feedback!
Haha!! Thanks Ken. This chassis is still working well to this day (Aug 2020), and I would highly recommend this Universal Chassis to anyone who needs a replacement unit! Cheers !
This chassis only runs standard resolution games. Silent Scope is a medium resolution game so the chassis won't run that game properly (or display garbage). If Wei-Ya/Makvision makes a medium resolution or "trisync" universal chassis, maybe you can consider :). I'm tempted to get two of these for two Motocross Go machines I'm working on because there isn't much on the market for a 27" standard res chassis (specifically a K7400).

If you look in the "generic white box" there is an extra neck board in it.

What about the x-ray protection on these?
I don't think that x-ray output is an issue... These are "relatively" new monitors, so don't emit much scary frequencies - I hope !! Haha.
Finn in the background! ;)
Lol - he actually features in the background of MOST videos, as he is generally present during all of my recording!
so after all the mucking around , are you happy with the generic chassis , I may need to do the same with my silent scope , nice video m8 enjoyed it !
will do Matthew theres something about bringing a CRT back to life so satisfying
