I get so excited when Feedback Loop uploads a new video. Great stuff! I find them really enjoyable to watch, relaxing and informative. I also really admire his determination on some of the more challenging repairs. "Hello everyone, and welcome to the lab" always puts a smile on my face. Keep up the great work.
What an interesting fault! My Agilent E4418B has a similar type of problem - a low impedance path (150 - 300 ohms) randomly appears across the membrane contacts for the frequency search key. I could find no issue with the membrane, or the lamination. The issue would come and go, and eventually I took the membrane out, and used a hot air station while pressing the laminations together which seemed to fix it for a few months. I showed the seller the problem, and they purchased a brand new membrane and sent it to me at no cost, I still haven't installed it as this issue seems to come and go.
I wish you would have shown where the screws are located when taking this apart, but looks straight forward enough. I will be replacing an LCD and keypad on my unit.
@@feedback-loop It was apparently thrown in a dumpster when it was retired and the corner of the LCD glass broke off, taking some of the transparent conductive traces off. :-( So I'm just watching eBay for one with an intact LCD and dead-something-else. Should have it working in 10 to 20 years! LOL.
Seems to be a common problem with these units, something to do with a bad or missing battery causes issues with the front panel buttons. Theres a thread on the web about it.
The front panel issues are well known, you can buy the membranes on eBay from China. If it's anything like the E4419B I repaired, your front panel will fail again intermittently and you'll need to replace the membrane. Think of it as preventative maintenance like replacing caps!
You can also power the unit up by holding the front power button in and switching the rear power on.....this bypasses the front button if its not working.
I suspect the fault will rear it's head again since you never found it. I hope you get lucky and you are done, but it will most likely turn up again when you really need to use the instrument.
Intermittent' s are a worry but what can you do, not sure if you know but if things are hot glued down Isopropanol alcohol makes it just let go, nice instrument....cheers.
Thanks for this vedio i have agilent agilent e4416a power meter when I press the button nothing happens the battery voltage is 2.9v. voltages 12 v ,-12 and 5 v ok

Well if it stops working again, you know you can fix it by just taking it apart! :) Also, congrats on 10k subscribers, well deserved.
If it stops working again, I suggest he fix something else.
Thanks for posting I always look forward to your videos .I think I have watched them all now atleast twice .Best regards

Awesome! I wish I could find a replacement LCD for my E4419B. Great work!
What seems to be the problem?

How did the ram battery test pass with no battery? Intermittent failures are the worst. Glad you got it working.
Lots of those units on eBay for fairly low dollars but the sensors are too expensive.

Yeah, this is quite possible.
Hello! How to remove the front panel?
SIr what is the max input that the sensor can handle?

Excuse me, could you tell me how you removed the front panel of the power meter?
How is it possible that most of your repairs seem so obvious, so uncomplicated not to say simple!
A very good video.

2023.02.27 thanks
Stuff that, hack a push button on it somewhere, unless you are going to resell it.
What did you fix ? A "dirty" connection ? Interesting.
