    Dave, I am one of your subscribers who asked you to do a segment on this subject. I really appreciate you taking the time with a quick response. As always love your videos and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’m already stoked about this years season!

      Just looked that product up. That product has food value to the deer in it. Not very good for a screen. You don’t want to attract deer to a screen you are trying to hide behind. EW much better option

      Hey man thanks for the reply yeah I realize that when I planted it was just a scramble to get something in I'm way ahead of the game this year I've already bought a bunch of seed and I'm going to try an area of the buckwheat crimping and overseeding into it yeah man I went a little crazy I bought a tractor and a couple implements and I'm obsessed

      5 years ago I bought a rototiller and then last year I bought a 10 wheel disc to drag around with a four-wheeler and that I stayed is now I got a tractor and and the obsession continues I've moved. 2 South Carolina 30 years ago still have 25 acres in New York that I've kept all this time anybody want to make an offer just outside the Adirondack Park upper Central New York

    That all depends where you are. It snows plenty here during hunting season. I wish it was a good option for me.

    I know exactly what you mean I want to eventually get a degree in habitat management for sure and I am getting into the field preparing for the next season gonna be creating buck bedding areas food plots doe bedding areas and all kinds of things thank you for all the info you put out for sure I have learned a lot just did a ph test in an area I’m wanting to do a good plot and put about 300 pounds of lime down to bring it up from a 6.1 closer to a 7 check it again next time I got to plant this area and I would roll my eyes as well lol corn is attractive for sure but just like when we eat corn our body’s don’t digest it properly so I’m sure it’s the same way with deer as well

    The only thing I worry about Dave is some of these grasses trying to take over food plot. Which one is just annual that you would recommend.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors

      Switch grass is fine. It won’t take over.
      Switch grass is a perennial. I use Egyptian wheat wheat which is a annual.

      Same. Egyptian wheat. You can get anything to grow anywhere as long as you follow the proper steps

      @@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors so put high nitrogen and potassium fertilizers? Don’t people also use lime to help the acidity? Is that something that would help Egyptian wheat to grow? Thanks for the reply and the information

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  3 года назад

      @@olliewollie7844 well you need to soil sample before anything else. That will tell you what to add. Typically triple 19 works great

      Most times broadcast it and sometimes use firminator just to get straight rows.

    Have a question not really applying to the video did you get a degree of any kind to do what you do in habitat management? I’ve been doing a lot of research behind habitat management and I’m looking into getting into it my self just wondering if schooling is the route I need to go or can it be done as an enthusiast and not have to have a diploma

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  3 года назад

      I have no degree. Nothing beats in the field training through failures, test, and your own personal experience. Getting a degree isn’t a bad thing at all it’s good to have under your belt. But just because someone has a degree doesn’t mean they are smart. No offense but hope you know what I mean. I’ve seen wildlife biologists that will tell you corn for deer is nutritious and I roll my eyes. They are telling you what they were taught in a class most likely political. I would just get out there and test stuff, read, research, and learn as much as you can

    Without edge feathering woods along ag fields. I get screening with Egyptian wheat around food plots to section off between fields. Do you recommend just running along woods. After leaf drop you can see 100 plus yards into woods. Or would you use a different screening seed or method so deer can't see you cross a field.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  3 года назад +1

      Yes you can do that with Egyptian wheat along woods line. I do that all the time. You can also use switch grass for that to create extra cover and a screen so you don’t have to plant each year. Dividing plots I always use Egyptian wheat because my designs change each year.
