- The UK's first fully solar electric powered widebeam, The SunFlower is fitted with underfloor heating and a concrete floor as a thermal mass storage heater for winter. The heat will be powered by the back boiler on the onboard eco woodburner.
Have you had any issues with the concrete. Is there anything you'd do differently
Can I ask, why you didn’t use re- mesh with the concrete??
Thanks for sharing guys

We did Paul not sure if you can see it in the video but it is on top of the pipework

A back boiler on a solid fule burner I believe they used
What is the source of heat that heats the liquid? What is the amount of heat?
What type of furnace are you using to heat the liquid that will be circulated through the floor tubing? (Propane? Solar? Something else?)
eco log burner
I do have a question, if there ever was a need for repair of the underfloor heating system, would you be able to access it with there being set concrete over it?
I have Always wondered that too!
No. You have to break up the floor to get to the pipe. |99% of the time faults are with the manifold etc.) Usually if a pipe is split it is a pretty simple fix though
How to repair the hull of the ship, if everything is filled with foam and concrete?
overplating.
Concrete weighs 2400kg per cubic meter so you added 19.2 metric tons of weight to your boat! Isn't that going to decrease the operating efficiency of the electric propulsion system to a significant degree?
That's right, and that's my question. Please reply .
Don’t they add ballast to these boats anyway. Perhaps the concrete was the ballast?
Bad
