My husbands uncle passed earlier this year at 84. I kid you not, he didn’t have one single wrinkle and he was not fat. His skin was of a 40 year old easily. He believed in herbs.

If I can say ANYTHING good about the state of our country right now, it's that so many people are learning the old ways again. I wish we would have started years ago but we didn't and now we'll need to work even harder. This beautiful lady is such an inspiration!
My great grandmother was from Appalachia. She came to Indiana in a covered wagon as one of the early settlers. Every year she had a large garden, a hog , and her homestead that she ran until she died at age 101 in 1971. I spent one wonderful summer with her when I was a kid. I am old now, but I have sweet memories of Grandma Abner.
my grandmother also ran her own farm up until she passed 109 grandma Bickley was a tough,,, her mother's mother came from England a true pioneer,,, covered wagon and all that ,,,,,, Ed

So lovely! She and her son were gracious to share their time and land with you (and us). The house is incredible. The farm, spring house and graveyard, along with Sarah and her sons narrative kept my attention all the way until the end without thinking about seeing inside the house. My mom grew up on a 1000 acre farm in southern Illinois. I remember their spring house, the barns, the big chicken house. The big farmhouse with a woodstove and hand pump at the sink. I remember my gma working hard and fast to feed 30 hired men when harvesting, etc. And the featherbeds!
Mrs. Sarah Russell moved to the farm the year I was born. She had an amazing roll model in Ahletta, ( lover her name) her mother in law. Imagine cooking for the hands of a 500 acre farm. That tractor looks much like one belonging to my grandfather. My father even used it to plow snow. Grandpa had lots of land. I loved Mrs. Sarah's interesting history told during the interview. I pray for more of country to have the Great Appalachian feel and mindset again. Who is the Kincade man you are speaking of in the video as a builder? I appreciate all your video work and topics discussed you are one of the best.
The music and that house n land transported me back to Europe. Wow! I never would have hooked up to city water with that wonderful water! Lol She’s amazing! Is that her grandson or son in the cemetery and spring house? Roger I guess. So have you gone back? Where the video of the other house where the kinks is also built that you were speaking of? I’ll have to try to find that video. Man!- im going down a rabbit hole!

Fascinating…..Davis Creek….Davis was my Daddy’s name…Freddie Lee Davis youngest of the six children. My grandparents married in 1897 in Pulaski, Ill. and they had 6 children. History is fascinating.
I live in Pike County, Ohio. in the western part of our county is a spring on State owned property. This was where a John Kincaid settled and built a cabin in the early 1800's. Eventually my great grandmother owned this property in the early 1900's. Most of this property was sold to the State of Ohio. it is now the location of the state operated Kincaid Fish Hatchery and the Pike State Forest headquarters. My great grandmother lived in the Kincaid house, just across the road from the spring, until shortly before her passing in 1958. I remember my uncle showing me the Kincaid cemetery just above the spring. I wonder if these Kincaids are related the the family mentioned in this video.
I love the way thy have Clean water resources from spring s I bet you could of made some good whiskey there you could of cooled a set of coils easily by running this cool spring water over them surprised me thy didn't make some moonshine there

You should have gotten a fiddle tape from Jean, Sarah Beth's daughter of Bill Russell playing the fiddle. I hear he was tied for the national championship years ago but left before the playoffs so he could get home and milk. The history here is amazing.
I didn't know he played anything but maybe one day I can ask about that. thanks for the comment
My people are from far East Tennessee, Cocke County. Reminds me of my grandparents.
We aren’t too far from Cocke County. Thanks for watching
Great story and great piece of history! The farmall tractor was somewhere between 1938-54.

Just found your channel and subbed. I love the mountains and woods/forests. Honestly think it's an ancestry memory from my Father's family who were from near the Teutoburg Forest, Germany. Find the Appalachian are and people fascinating. Can't beat good fiddle music and a lone Scot's piper lament!

She and my mother are the same age. Mother was married in '51 at age 19. I'm surprised at age 18, her daddy still had to sign for her. Is she still living? This is October 18, 2022 when I'm writing this. Wonderful story.

I hope and pray all the land stays in her family and her kids get it and one of them runs the farm - And that no land developer get this land - or people from outside our area buy it

Thanks for watching and good point to ponder
We always wanted to know our family 😊
I love the way thy have Clean water resources from spring s I bet you could of made some good whiskey there you could of cooled a set of coils easily by running this cool spring water over them surprised me thy didn't make some moonshine there
Very true!
Whose to say they didn’t? Just because equipment isn’t there…
She reminds me of my mother soooo much! And my mother had a Aunt Viola. And she had. identical twin aunts, Evee and Ivy. She sounds like my mother!
May I ask what town this was in? Enjoyed the show very much. I hope I will be able to mow the yard at her age.
