- The VESTA 203AP is a simple, no frills tripod with a 3-way pan head that is ideal for photography, or smaller/lighter spotting scopes. Here we give an overview of how the tripod works, so you can #makeupyourownmind

If you want something a little sturdier, the VESTA 233AP is almost identical, except it has 23mm legs (vs 20mm legs): www.vanguardwo...

I have the Vangaurd Vesta 203 AGH and it doesn't hold a heavy camera up. In the locked position and slowly the camera falls.
Hi Kevin
We're sorry to hear that. We would not recommend this VESTA range for a heavy camera. It has a max load capacity of 3.5kg, but there are variables such as the length of lens that will affect the centre of gravity that the head has to deal with.
For heavy cameras we would recommend 26mm legs (the 203 refers to 20mm legs with 3 sections) and a ball head (the AGH refers to a grip head) can cope better with weight distribution.
But thank you for sharing so we could help anyone considering this tripod with a heavy camera in the future

Is the Vesta 233AP more stable than the 203 and is the pan head the same? Cheers!
Thank you for your interest in Vanguard tripods. The 233AP is indeed more stable as it has 23mm rather than 20mm diameter legs. The head on both models is the PH-23.
@@NeilVanguard I appreciate the information. That’s the one I’m probably going to buy. Thank you!
Hi there, do you experience any creaking from the handle when panning?
Hi Sushi - there shouldn't be. If you email info@vanguardworld with a short video that illustrates the issue we can see how we can help, but please note there will d3elays to any reply over Christmas as we try to give the team time off so we're working on a skeleton crew
