PAINT COLORS: Water Mixable oil paint or use any brand of regular oil paint.
Titanium white. Ultramarine blue, Sap green, Dioxazine purple, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna and Cad yellow light,
OTHER MATERIALS:
Canvas 10x12, or your choice of size, water mixable thinner, water mixable linseed oil, #16 flat floral brush, #12 filbert floral brush, #4 round floral brush, and a Bunny brush (or soft blender brush)

Do you wash your brushes in water.
I love the flower.
I am happy that you like the tutorial Geraldine. I sometimes use the water to rinse my brushes while I am painting, if they need it. And I am sure to dry them thoroughly if I do use water. When I am done painting, though, I will use SOAP & WATER and clean brushes three times to make absolutely sure all the paint's out. That is important, so no paint builds up in the furrow. I love those water mixable oils!

I tried it btw i tried oil painting only once before anyways even though i did make a good flower it is nowhere near yours oh my gosh mine is like a sketch in comparison to yours 😂 but it was fun i love it.
I'm just thinking how can i make it look more like yours. My colors aren't vibrant like yours and petals of my flower isn't defined like yours it's too subtle . I only used main colors since I'm good with colors (when i was a kid other kids used to ask me to mix their colors to got their desired color)but maybe i should have bought more colors oh maybe i should have add less turpentine 😢 thank you for this video.
I didn't use many colors in this painting Queen. Purple is a good color to play with. 🌺 I only used a VERY LITTLE oil with the paint so the color stays more vibrant. The highlight color is what is separating the petals. Try painting this over again. Every time you paint it, it will get better and you will learn more. Hi Yovette. For your background are you using a magic white or just white paint to make the very light pastel colors?
For my background Deb, I actually used acrylic paint. Once that had dried then I covered it with a layer of WMO linseed oil / thinner mix. You could just as easily do the background color with oil paint if you would prefer to do that. I just sometimes like to use acrylic paint for my undercoat. 🌺

Also what is water mixable oil and thinner? I know the oil is linseed oil. Are you using actual paint thinner? Or something non solvent based?
Hi Deb, the brand of water mixable oil paint that I am using is Winsor and Newton Artisan. They make their own blend of water mixable oil thinner, and water mixable linseed oil that is used specifically with their paint. In this video I describe that I used a mix of 25% oil to 75% thinner. I have found that a mix of 50/50 works well too. And on occasion I use just water mixable linseed oil all by itself to coat the canvas. It really does not matter what you use, it all works. The reason I sometimes add thinner to the oil is that it make the blend a little thinner to spread easier.

Je suis vraiment désolé Daniele, mais je ne suis pas sûr de ce que vous entendez par produit U H 75% J'utilise la marque Artisan, Winsor & Newton. C'est un produit huileux miscible à l'eau.
Love your flowers but the background is too light don't you think?
If I did this painting again Shawn I would definitely darken the edges. Maybe I will even attempt it soon. It would look better. 🌺
This stroke cannot be achieved with acrylics. I think I'll pour a few drops of oil into them 😜😜
Painting this flower in acrylic is much harder than painting it with oil paint Bożena. If I were using acrylic I would add an extender to the paint. If using oil paint I would use a very little bit of oil. 🌺
