The world's renowned oboist, Liang Wang joined the New York Philharmonic in September 2006 as Principal Oboe. Previously, he was principal oboe of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (2005--06), and principal oboe of the Santa Fe Opera in the 2004--05 season.
I've been playing for 29 years since middle school and it has always been a struggle. It always amazes me to hear a professional play so easily.
haha... it hurt my heart when i heard him say " it sounds pretty brutal"
i would love to make a reed that even makes sounds. haha
I play the oboe too when you are testing it it sounds so beautiful:)
I know! His technical ability was amazing.
I can't believe he thought it sounded brutal.. I'd love to sound like that!
He didn't teach us how to make um he just showed us that he knew how to make them
@youngjun3
That's why he's principal in the NY Philharmonic!
The Tip
Depends. The gougers I believe cost a couple thousand while the rest are in the hundreds.
I'm sure they test them out to make sure they actually play well and all but they typically will sanitize them before shipping them out. no worries
At 2:05, what part of the reed did he cut a little bit off of to smooth out the sound, the tip or the heart?
Thanks
this is pretty good, but.........WHAT??!!?!?
how much do all those machines cost??
the 2 minute and 50 second reed beats the 5 minute reed
Wow he thought he sounded brutal, then I can't begin to explain wat I sound like
The "crow" is abit too low
haha same here
Ha he thinks that sounds 'pretty brutal', I'm guessing he hasn't heard a factory made reed in a while...
great oboist but I beat him at table tennis!
