Oh darn. I was so hoping we would get some insight about what writers do in their writing that doctors read and go -- "Nope. That's not how bodies work. Or else "That's not how humans deal with illness", or "No doctor ever said that! Who IS this character?!" Good advise but, if you're a med student who likes literiture, there's my vote for the next one.
I'm with the previous commenter and assumed this would be about doing proper medical research beforehand to avoid random stuff like "Ok, give him 20CC's of thorazine to stop the bleeding!" I think you also missed a 3rd option which I think is the most likely - alcohol makes people less inhibited and their self-filter goes down (hence why people say stuff while drunk that they'd be embarrassed about later), this seems like the exact solution to writers block and being afraid of not writing something "perfect."
Just separate the writing phase from the conceptualising phase. Do your drugs of choice when coming up with ideas, but don't write anything but notes until they've worn off. You could also try a placebo, which have been shown to have a positive effect on creativity and productivity.
Do we actually know that authors & other creatives have abused substances at a higher than average rate? Maybe it just sucked to be alive in those time periods & a lot of people were constantly sloshed 😅
That's a good point! I read this in Stephen King’s book: On Writing. It seems to be a widely accepted fact, and I believe there has been studies previously (would need to check and read these to understand how great the association is).

OMG .. I thought the same thing
Thank you for the idea! Will totally be making a video for this 🫣

That's fair enough 😂 And interesting point!! I hadn't considered that

I'd recommend not using drugs at all if possible 😅
