In Yunnan, Kudzu root is more like a "snack" cooked and sold at street food stalls. People cut a piece and put it directly in their mouths, and there's a bitter sweetness. Wild kudzu root is cooked and sold in the market, which can also be sliced, sun-dried, and soaked in water and it's said to have many special effects.
While pueraria root can be ground, filtered to make the starch which can be made into paste after adding some water. In our hearts, it's way better than lotus root starch. There's a light fragrance and a bitter sweetness, and it tastes smoother than lotus root starch.
Since I've made a lot of pueraria powder, I'll make a meal with it today... In this series, I'll show you the Yunnan people's love for roots. I hope you'll accompany me to gradually know Yunnan and our unique cuisine!

I have my childhood memories that's transporting big amount of Kudzu my family harvested in the mountains in Japan.
I hated the smell of fresh from roots of Kudzu 😁
My parents used to make Kudzu powder +hot water +sugar t taste when someone sick.

When they cannot even tell the difference between wild grasses from vegetables, Xiaoge is educating them on what is what and how beautiful a natural life attached to nature may feel like. I am so glad that I saw this. I live in the Southeastern portion of the US. Kudzu has taken over all around us since before I was born. I never knew that any part of it was edible. I have always loved the smell of the blooms floating on the breeze.
Going forward, I plan to try it. Who knows... my family and I may love it. Plus, when I looked it up, it has many beneficial medical properties as well that most certainly could improve our health.

She really makes good foods (dishes and desserts) from simple ingredients. You can see her meticulously preparing not one dish but a lot from every main ingredient she presents. Aside from the content, I really love the ending scene showing a clear night sky with stars and that space cloud or something.
That "space cloud" is the Milky Way. That's our galaxy.
