- This is such a beautiful engine, fun to build and tinker with, it gives so much satisfaction to run and enjoy. This video is my first departure from model steam engines into model petrol engines, and I must say I am very impressed! Hope you enjoy, sorry it is a bit long!

Very nice video! Nice casual presentation and I enjoy your sense of humor! My kit arrived yesterday!
Hope you enjoy it!
Great👍Ade, glad you like this engine
I love it
mine nearly ready to go! jonB
That is one very nice engine Ade 👍👍👍 With my smaller Chinese hit & miss engines I have found that when starting from cold a good tactic is, before turning on the ignition, block the carburettor's air intake and turn the engine over a few times by hand. This definitely aids starting. Cheers, Alan.
Thank you, Mr. Ade. Quality video as always, and inane hilarity, laughed my ass off when the coffee came out, almost spilled my own!
Very cool !
How fun! Great job, Ade!
Cheers Stan :)
Having just built one of these and watching your video I noticed a couple of things. One is that it vibrated quite a bit, then I noticed that your flywheel timing is off. When the piston is a top dead center the counter weights on the flywheels should be away from the top of the engine. The piston is 180 degrees from weights. The other thing I noticed is that your valve clearance is way too much. There is a gauge provided in the kit and you adjust the valve clearance at the push rod and rocker arm contact. There is also another video by another assembler that shows how the wiring is routed so that it is neat, but requires some removal of material from the base. I had fun building it, but the hardest part is putting the three ball bearings on the shaft and then sliding the collar over it. The next is getting the clearance correct on that collar. You think it is correct, but when you tighten the flywheel down it changes the clearance. When you build one you will see what I mean. Cheers.
Thx for the vid. 👍
Fantastic work! Nice done!
I agree Ade, that's a beautiful engine. Must have been great fun putting it together. Would be a lot of work to make one yourself. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Nobby
Amazing little engine! Well done 👍
i wonder why i got a different crankshaft design than everyone else...mine is circular, not flat like everyone elses is, just recieved and built mine yesterday, i added a tiny generator to mine! i ended up snapping the contact to my points off...nothing a bit of superglue couldnt fix! engine is running great, rotates super smooth!
Thank you Ade, wonderful review . I will try to build one
Runs better than my neighbours Harley LOL !!!
The whole kit is lovely. I'm actually considering buying on. Seeing your video and the price from one of the dealers I feel like it's a decent value for the money. Besides, I've got way too many projects on the list for my shop to get around to something like this in any reasonable number of years....
As for your starting troubles I was yelling "THERE'S NO CURRENT FLOWING ! ! ! " at the monitor. But I guess you couldn't hear me due to the distance..... Even if the current only flows in short pulses I would expect the current display on your supply to show at least a few blips and dithers. So no spark for sure. But it looks like it might be the spark control box.
Nice to see the funny intro back. Or is it a new one? I'll have to go find the old one to check. But it's a grin and a half to see your video start like that.
Hi Bruce, I know, I felt like a right twit! I think I could just hear you distantly ;) at least I wont make that mistake again. I'm trying to come up with scenarios for the intro based on the 'welcome to the shed' theme. Thanks for your comments. Ade
Been considering getting 1. Very informative. Thank You!!
Nice casual presentation and I enjoy your sense of humor
I got my own new HM-01 engine 2 weeks ago. The assembly itself went ok, however I think the valve head 25 x 1.5 mm O-ring is no good, The compression was good at first but upon my first starting attempt it lost all compression after the 3rd pull. when I removed the head, the O-ring appeared to just barely rise above the head surface less than 1/4th of a mm. Im sure there little to no O-ring pressure against the head and cylinder end since it already touches metal with only 1/2 turn on the 6 Allen wrench head screws. So now the engine is stored away, waiting for a new dozen set of high temp O-rings from uncle Amazon. I might try using hi-temp silicone Gasket maker if all else fails.
As a kid in the 1970's I hiked a trail on Tzartus island west coast Canada where an old copper mine operated from 1920's to 40's where many dozens of old rusty discarded hit and miss engine parts littered the trailside looking very similar to the much smaller HM01 parts
Great video, nice channel, lovely humour, subbed!
Thank you so much! Kind regards. Ade
Looks like the head is leaking a bit. If I could suggest Permatex copper gasket maker in an aerosol, it works great for sealing and applying evenly.
awesome!!!
Great video as always pal. Can you get spares for this engine eg new points?
Hi Mick. Thanks, you can get spares.
looks very well made. looking t the website it equates to £479, sp not too bad.
My valve stem is rubbing and getting stuck in the holder, is it better to bore out the hole larger or use sandpaper to make the stem thinner?
run a drill or reamer through the cast boss, it's probably just some excess paint in the bushing
Where is the miss? That thing is firing way way to often, running too fast or something def isn't tuned correct
Hi Mike, towards the end of the video i manage to slow it down a bit, but I'm still working on getting that single fire run.
Awesome looking forward to seeing it. I want to pick one up, but not if they run that fast
Where can I purchase this engine at?
links are in the description Brian :)
14:20 It is not 304 stainless, which is non magnetic, someone is telling porkies. I can send you some certified samples if you like. I've worked with that crap for decades., it's only good enough for starships... 🤣 Another internet mystery to be solved 🤣
Hi @skysurferuk I found the info from the supplier website, so assumed they know what they are using? - What do you think it is? and yes, I'd love some samples 🤩 Regards Ade

It is 304 stainless which can be slightly magnetic depending on the type of 304. Not all 304 is the same. When he applied the magnet it showed to be slightly magnetic.
4/10
= 0.4
The ignition system they come with is horrible you need a buzz box to run these
