Thank you Neze for stating the facts. So many ladies make this mistake based on anger, bad advice and greed trying to deny men/fathers access to their children. It is very important for women to understand that men are also entitled to their children and have the same rights to be in their lives just as they do, especially if they are interested and want to be there or have access. It is always wise to make decisions based upon the best interest of the child as you rightly said. A lot of people make these decisions based on emotions and being that they are hurt at that point in time cause even more damage to their children and their future relationship with their father and even their standing within his own larger family. It takes a lot to agree to let another woman be there for your child like in this case where Davido is now married and has Imade's siblings, but this could actually be better for the child than when Davido was single. It is better to settle things without involving the court system. Once it goes to court it is only the interest of the child that is considered and each party may not get the outcome they are seeking. In a patriarchal society like Nigeria the financial demands that the mother is seeking maybe dramatically cut as stated by Neze. If it were the U.S. where I’m living the mother despite being baby mother can get substantial financial child support based on the father’s income. That I’m afraid may not happen in Nigeria just as Nezeville has said. I hope both sides can set aside heightened emotion and settle this thing out of court in the interest of the child ….compromise is the key and it doable and all the mother’s concern for the safety of the child can easily be remedied in a joint custody situation. Nigerian law has no provision for Baby Mama, communal partner or live in lover. A country that has its constitution made purely on patriarchal bases. Whatever she gets is cos of the child they share and not cos she’s a baby mama. The rent she’s asking for the judges even hearing the case don’t even get that in their package. The guy is asking for joint custody which literally means Access, visitation rights and time spent with him as a dad who is a provider and not to live with him and his new wife in his home. Such Visits could even be in his father’s house, his sister’s house, his family vacation, a weekly Sunday lunch with dad. Custody of a girl child is always with the mum unless the mother is Abusive, medically unfit or mentally challenged. My mum would have loved this case she would slam her with lowering that her entire costs and tell her to get a freaking job and get housing that she can afford wether David provides it or not she can comfortably foot it

Christmas with mum and new year with dad etc including long summer holidays and weekends but sometimes when the ex want more , he pleaded with my sist n will say I know this is not the court order but pls can u allow them come dis weekend I will be travelling u can keep them when it gets to my turn. It is Sophia's right to ask or request whatever and that amount will be negotiated by both parties and if they cannot reach an agreement or settlement, the court determines what is best based on the income and networth. Remember Nigeria is part of the Hague countries. I do not care if Sophia requested whatever, as a lawyer and legal personnel you are wrong to say do not request what is appropriate for the child. The court is responsible for determining what is best for that child based on the realities that she is a celebrity kid and needs security, good school, safe housing, safe transportation etc, and a lifestyle that they will determine to be appropriate for Davido's income and networth. So to encourage any woman not to be confident to request what they think is fair is wrong. It is a negotiation and of course will not end the way they assumed in the beginning.

Thank you Neze for stating the facts. So many ladies make this mistake based on anger, bad advice and greed trying to deny men/fathers access to their children. It is very important for women to understand that men are also entitled to their children and have the same rights to be in their lives just as they do, especially if they are interested and want to be there or have access. It is always wise to make decisions based upon the best interest of the child as you rightly said. A lot of people make these decisions based on emotions and being that they are hurt at that point in time cause even more damage to their children and their future relationship with their father and even their standing within his own larger family. It takes a lot to agree to let another woman be there for your child like in this case where Davido is now married and has Imade's siblings, but this could actually be better for the child than when Davido was single. Hoping Sophia will pray on this, and let wisdom and a calm head rule.

Even in America, there have been cases where baby mamas whose baby daddies are already providing, dragged the baby daddy to court, hoping to get more money but they ended up getting way less than what the baby daddy was already providing. Sophia’s family should sit her down and advise her. The lawyers may not cos they want their pay!

It is better to settle things without involving the court system. Once it goes to court it is only the interest of the child that is considered and each party may not get the outcome they are seeking. In a patriarchal society like Nigeria the financial demands that the mother is seeking maybe dramatically cut as stated by Neze. If it were the U.S. where I’m living the mother despite being baby mother can get substantial financial child support based on the father’s income. That I’m afraid may not happen in Nigeria just as Nezeville has said. I hope both sides can set aside heightened emotion and settle this thing out of court in the interest of the child ….compromise is the key and it doable and all the mother’s concern for the safety of the child can easily be remedied in a joint custody situation. It is all so unfortunate and shortsighted. I’m sure the little girl misses her Dad’s company and all the cousins she could be playing with and developing relationships with. All these will be important in the future.

Nigerian law has no provision for Baby Mama, communal partner or live in lover. A country that has its constitution made purely on patriarchal bases. Whatever she gets is cos of the child they share and not cos she’s a baby mama. The rent she’s asking for the judges even hearing the case don’t even get that in their package. The guy is asking for joint custody which literally means Access, visitation rights and time spent with him as a dad who is a provider and not to live with him and his new wife in his home. Such Visits could even be in his father’s house, his sister’s house, his family vacation, a weekly Sunday lunch with dad. Custody of a girl child is always with the mum unless the mother is Abusive, medically unfit or mentally challenged.
My mum would have loved this case she would slam her with lowering that her entire costs and tell her to get a freaking job and get housing that she can afford wether David provides it or not she can comfortably foot it

My immediate elder sist who once married to an Italian man and later divorced and the court judgments was the 2 daughters (half cast) to be with my sist and shared the holidays between them. Christmas with mum and new year with dad etc including long summer holidays and weekends but sometimes when the ex want more , he pleaded with my sist n will say I know this is not the court order but pls can u allow them come dis weekend I will be travelling u can keep them when it gets to my turn. U kw na, my Naija sist will be making shakara etc. Now the kids are adults 20 and 18 years old

But later in the video, I was lost, confused because a custody and child support hearing is for negotiation. It is Sophia's right to ask or request whatever and that amount will be negotiated by both parties and if they cannot reach an agreement or settlement, the court determines what is best based on the income and networth. Remember Nigeria is part of the Hague countries.
I do not care if Sophia requested whatever, as a lawyer and legal personnel you are wrong to say do not request what is appropriate for the child.
The court is responsible for determining what is best for that child based on the realities that she is a celebrity kid and needs security, good school, safe housing, safe transportation etc, and a lifestyle that they will determine to be appropriate for Davido's income and networth.
So to encourage any woman not to be confident to request what they think is fair is wrong. It is a negotiation and of course will not end the way they assumed in the beginning.
