V60 pour over coffee - tasty B-roll and transitions

- I bought a Hario V60 kit and made this video to practise creating B-roll and transitions. Incredible coffee from now on came as a huge bonus:D
I use this receipe by James Hoffman (check him out, awesome knowledge about coffee):
For 5dl:
1. Boil 600g of good tasting water.
2. Measure and grind (medium-fine) 30g of fresh roasted coffee beans.
3. Pre-rinse the coffee filter with boiling hot water and put your kit on a scale.
4. Pour the grinds into the filter, make a little pit and then reset your scale.
5. Pour 60g of boiling water into the grinds and swirl away air bubbles. Let it rest(bloom) for 30sec.
6. Pour 300g of boiling water into the grinds, in 30sec - circular motion.
7. Keep the filter topped by pouring 200g of boiling water in the next 30sec.
8. Stir gently with a spoon to release grinds off the side walls.
9. Swirl as soon as possible to even out the coffee grinds to a flat bed and let the water run through.
10. Serve.

@@Abdulrahman-tc6vq Start with camera still and catch something in fast motion by following it with the camera in the same direction and speed. This will stop the motion of the object but put the background into motion blur.
Take another clip following the same object in about the same speed and direction, same background blur but in another scene setup and stop camera movement.
I first caught the coffee grinds falling from the grinder higher up in the air landing on the table but cuting the clip in mid air with motion blured background. Then started the next clip with the same falling grinds with blurred background but ending it with the grinds falling into the filter. So there are actually two different clips blended together to get the effect of coffe levitating in front of the camera with perfect timing between grinding and falling into the filter. Filmed in macro with slowmo 180fps to enhance the effect and air time of course.

This is better than any coffee commercial I have seen, ever. And there have been some good ones. Now I want to make pour over. You might consider making a video with a Chemex. Coffee looks fantastic in it.

Thanks, more info can be read in other comment responses but mainly laowa 25mm 2,5-5x and an adapted Nikon 105mm F2.8 macro.

I used a Godox VL300 studio LED as a key light. I moved it around for every shot to get a good basic lighting with nice shapes and reflections on my main subject. I also used a Godox Light stick as secondary light to either soften shadows to dark or creating rim lights (white contours) on glass details. Thats it🙂

Hi Simon, and thank you so much! I used my Panasonic GH5 with a Panasonic Leica 12-60 f2.8-4 for most shots, and a simple m4/3-Nikon F adaptor with my Nikon 105 f2.8 Macro lense for the close ups. Glad you like it🙂

How you handle the different fps shots with rolling shutter and the different exposures??
What's your light setup?
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. I have a godox VL300 with plenty of power so exposure wasn't much of a problem even at 180fps. I used a Panasonic GH5 which have practicly no rolling shutter regardless of settings. Also the video quality and dynamic range from the GH5 is fenomenal even in todays standards. It gives great room for lifting shadows.

Hi, I used two Macro lenses. Laowa 24mm 2,5-5x and Nikon 105mm f2,8 micro. Adapter to my panasonic GH5.

60-180 fps depending on what clip you are refering to but most ov it is 120fps.

I purchased the props at local swedish low price stores or second hand and they are practicly unbranded. But a tip is to look for second hand stuff.
