You totally nailed it! Very impressive review of the 2020 SRX. I don’t usually say anything about the other comments, but I find there is a lot of negativity. It almost seems that people have a hard time to appreciate something other than what they own no matter how good it might be. With that said, keep up the great work Mark!
I rode a T-Cat across Stillwater Reservoir when I was in Old Forge about a month ago. All I can say is WOW. One of the coolest things i've ever experienced.
I have one .. owned alot of the big irons to date .. mine has the Hurricane 300hp kit and i still cant get over how easy it is to make something ridiculous fast and reliable already, to go to mind blowing fast with with a kit that's a simple add on and still reliable!! So sad to see Yamaha leave the game.....i will never sell this sled. Thanks Mark for the honest review on this sled.
I have one of these, and once i got it set up to suit me,I love it.I was afraid that it was going to be too "high spirited" for twisty trail riding, but it has suprised me so far. Its a lot more than a "first across the lake crotch rocket"
Umm, Yamaha had no high performance sleds in the mid 90's? I think you forgot about the 95-97 Vmax4. Still a legendary sled to this day, moreso than the 98+ SRXs..
Excellent review. Rode my 2020 SRX this season for many miles. Mix of fast straight lines and tight twisties in the bush. It corners a lot better than the 2019 with the improved lowered roll center. Studs are a must.
Cat make that motor???? No just chassis. What really gets me doo guys with there 900 ace turbo. Look out really. Yamaha made the fastest safest turbo trail sled ever. See started with the 1049 that's slow said the 850's. TURBO slapped on. That's not far. Bet you will get more miles out of that 4 stroke turbo then that 850 any day. Mines pushing over 7200 miles and still hammers.
@@janabarber1691 Jana, you hit the nail squarely on the head! If one wants turbo power look no further than a Yamaha. 4 stroke reliability. Stupid fast. Cat suspension. Now if they would just update the outdated gauge cluster.
I have a 2018 sidewinder and love it! You talked about the new suspension and what it did for these machines.. but is the motor the same as what I have is it just as fast? Or did they squeeze more juice out of it to truly be worthy of the srx name?
HigherVids : You bought into the marketing schmoo. Is that 4 stroke really that much more reliable? Modern two strokes have come a long ways with direct injection.
Sorry Motorhead Mark the legendary SRX's were not the blue POS's in this video but the 440 SRX's from 1978-1979. They were fast fro their time. The blue Yamaha triples were just lunch for the Tcats of the day.
Last weekend I drove my buddy’s ThunderCat with the same motor as this one. It is fast and pulls hard but to be honest I was expecting more, I thought it would rip my arms off or I wouldn’t be able to hang on. I have a Polaris 800 and the T-Cat only pulls a little harder than my 800. In a drag race I stay with him to about 50 mph and then the ThunderCat starts pulling away.
LOL. Stayed with a TCat til 50 mph, eh?,, let's see, so that means you stayed with the TCat for less than 3 seconds, and/or 150 feet. Quite apparent you did NOT have a chance to let that TCat spool up and run. ,, thats a good one- "my 800 was only a little slower". LOL
I know this is old thread but so is the sled Im gonna mention. 1981 Yamaha SRX was called Darth vaders sled way back then... sweet looking yes, fast yes reliable... sadly not even close. The high strung 440 had a multitude of issues, so much so Yamaha Yamaha recalled the sled and offered up other models in its place. I want one...
i have a sidewinder and it has been nothing but problems with the thing like the stater broke and there back ordered on them which means everyone is having the same problem thats y i have always gone ski doo i just wanted ti try yamaha but obviously shouldn’t have bc of this and the machine is so heavy and the over heating issues and the head gasket blow is enough to make me never buy anything but ski doo the Warranty wouldn’t even cover the cost so its been 5000 more after buying the machine cant wait for my 2021 ski doo
Skidoo is absolute crap. I’ve had 2. 800 and an 850. Blown the engine within first 1500 kms, blew stators several times, over heating issues constantly, head gaskets twice in the 850 crate motor, and an electrical fire killed my 800 XM. God damn things horrible. Bought a sidewinder and will never look back. 12,000kms on it now! No issues just regular maintenance
Why review a sled that's been out for a whole season when the 2021s will be released in a couple days? And they talk about all the speed but nobody will give numbers. Like what's the top speed 110? 120? Sick sleds though I'd get one in blue over the black
@HigherVids Yamacat chassis are by far weaker than their own brand was. Pro cross chassis are first rate trash. Weak, and flimsy. Which sucks, because I think they're the best lookin sled on the market. I'll never own one again.
@HigherVids I'm 6'2" and 210lbs. The nytro just seemed to fit me better. My pro cross didnt last 6 months. I had a bad experience with em. Not a single issue with the nytro.
@HigherVids they don’t care about snowmobile. They are focused on their very successful YZ and yzf motocross bikes and their atv/sxs which are killing it right now. Unfortunate but true they just aren’t interested in chasing or innovating the snowmobile market like they used to

100% agree!! Mark Nailed it!!! Honest and true! That machine sets the bench mark
I rode a T-Cat across Stillwater Reservoir when I was in Old Forge about a month ago. All I can say is WOW. One of the coolest things i've ever experienced.
I know i'll be buying one in the next 2 years for sure. I need those turbo sounds in my life

That's the best lookin sled out there today and am a doo guy
Same here. I ride XM Summits but damn that’s one gorgeous sled!
I just bought the stx gt.
I like the 153" SIDEWINDER B-TX LE... That blue is so sick !
I have one of these, and once i got it set up to suit me,I love it.I was afraid that it was going to be too "high spirited" for twisty trail riding, but it has suprised me so far. Its a lot more than a "first across the lake crotch rocket"
This guy cracks me up on his review of this sled. Love it!!!
Another great entertaining video..... Love these Yamaha / Cat sleds especially the SRX and the T-Cats.
Umm, Yamaha had no high performance sleds in the mid 90's? I think you forgot about the 95-97 Vmax4. Still a legendary sled to this day, moreso than the 98+ SRXs..
Unbelievably awesome! Gotta love Yamaha’s!
So wait were definitely going with polari?
Outstanding review

i have 98 srx 700 go right pass MXZ850 ski-dooooooooooo smiles !
She’s a beauty
The YamaCat! That’s not a put down.
I’m happy
Thundercat deserves the same mention!
They have mentioned the T-Cat in other videos as being a true badass

Villeneuve sold his resto in downtown Montreal. The Prinoth riders weren't stopping in.

Looks exactly like my 2013 f8 cat
I might snow check a Polaris or Ski Doo this year. Yamaha's best days are in its past.
thats what happens when you team up with artic crap
HigherVids : You bought into the marketing schmoo. Is that 4 stroke really that much more reliable? Modern two strokes have come a long ways with direct injection.
4 strokes are that much better. Polaris is the only one not making em. End of story
I crave poutine right now
Should be a comparison with the Thundercat. Who gets the SRX by a nose. I'm guessing its clutching!!
All that and no radar gun...
Sorry Motorhead Mark the legendary SRX's were not the blue POS's in this video but the 440 SRX's from 1978-1979. They were fast fro their time. The blue Yamaha triples were just lunch for the Tcats of the day.
They made their name in the late 70's but the 98 SRX was a beast. A 700 that beat 800's!!!
Glad somebody said it...but don't leave out 1976 and 77 SRX 440s still revered at race tracks across the north.
I'd say all three releases of the model sxr's made other brands shake in the boots. Every srx has an amazing engine.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DARTH VADER wants 200 of these..............................my brother Brannon would love ONE...😯

@@snappydavegood8820 lol I’d agree
I mean same thing with sport bikes. Most 600cc bikes can keep up with 1000cc bikes up to 60mph. But that 60-160mph is where you feel the difference.
Snowmobilling
Just bring back srx 700 triple sounds better then new one plus make it 800 triple
Good video! Keep it up! Would you like to be RUclips friends? :]
,,,,,,,,,,DARTH VADER wants ten.....😯

Great video Mark. but you said 999 cc. I'm sure you know it's a 998 cc. (Around 3:10 into video. ). I own 98 SRX

Stock, myself and two cats at seem to run at 119mph GPS. Dream meter reads 129.
Awesome sled however, All the silver decals on that sled should have been gold.
How much will my excessive ego be paying for all this mind numbing excitement?
old wrench $17K
You guys should start reviewing 2015 models because the reality is most of us aren’t buying new sleds we’re buying used. Cheers
They did, in 2015
TCats are a better sled. Better clutching and better skis
Polare eye 😂
Well hopefully Ski-Doo brings back the Mach1 so they can take their rightful place back
Skidoo junk
Too bad it's on a cat chassis

@HigherVids same I’ve rode Cats for a while now my latest is a Z1 turbo I’m quite happy with it’s a great trail sled very fast.
Absolutely love my nytro it’s an amazing sled.
Hah they might sell 10 all year
sully1d someone is forking out the 20 k for these. I swear 20% of the sleds I see on the trails in Ontario are sidewinders.
Very common sled! Their everywhere for a reason! 4 strokes are the answer end of story
Nice content! Keep it up! Would you like to be RUclips friends? :]
