I would like to see in the very least more games made continuing a franchise featuring her and return it to the RPG/survival-horror game style (even if done in its modern equivalent like RE2 remake was done).
The chests that you get ammo and medicine from in Wayne's weapon room can only be accessed 10 to 12 times so its better to wait until days 4 and 5 to use them up because you'll get +30 +60 ammo and Medicine 3s
One secret that many people don't know about is during the True Final Boss fight against Original Eve in the Chrysler Building you can actually stop Original Eve's normally unblockable charge attack. If you use liberate while she does it, it cancels her attack.
The good luck charms have a use. Found it awhile back and wrote it into my strategy guide. The Hamaya decreases the encounter rate by 10%. Mayoke slightly boosts critical chance, and Narita allows for slightly more lucrative drops. All 3 boosts all 3 effects a little more and also gives you a chance at pre-emptive strikes more often.

For anyone that loved this, but was confused by the rest of the series, give Vagrant Story a try. It's literally the same engine, and plays super similarly, but you're more or less the 007 of the FFT universe, with a heavy emphasis on custom weapons. Plus, it's got an interesting story, slight progression randomization each run, and you can just tell there was love poured into every part of it.
I will always remember being drawn to the game and its walktheough book at my local Blockbuster. The art was awesome and Aya was by far my favorite character. Im not a fan or wheveter but when i see cosplay it makes me happy!
I loooove this game. It's honestly probably my favorite. I have two copies of both PE1 and PE2. Let's not talk about Third Birthday... anywho, I have yet to be able to get all 300 junk, and best the Chrysler Building. I always get stuck on the damn Cockroach boss! But great job on the top 10. Another thing is in location right outside the room Aya wakes up in after fighting Eve at Central Park, there is a graffiti drawing of Pawn (an enemy) from the second game on a wall.
One of my favorite games ever as a kid. I played this so much.. edit.. I beat the Chrysler building by going through the game six times and keeping the same weapon at the end of the game that you get to keep
Today feels like one of the happiest says of my life (unrelated) and this was just the icing on the cake. Thanks for making today that much more special. I really like your work. Much love, peace.
Ironically, the Fire Charm Omafuda the first Charm you get from Maeda in the first game does have some use as an equitable or useable item but it’s in the second game after you gain access to the truck of a certain characters car in Dryerfield.
When I was a kid, I had never a chance to complete this game, because it always freeze after first meeting with Eve. I bought 5 PE copies, changed 3 PS consoles and nothing did help.. So I ended up starting with PE2, which I played over and over. Finally I forgot about this game for some time. I finally completed this game last year on emulator, and all I can say, I missed excellent game. Love both PE series, what I can't say for The 3rd Birthday.
I was a kid watching my brother playing it for days taking on the challenge and finally beating it. I tried it myself when I bought it on the PSN...mannnnn that building is no joke if you're not prepared lmao.
I only half agree with a remake... I say this only because I personally don't want them to change up the whole game. Mind you, there's a couple elements in the plot here and there that could do with some mild tweaking here and there, but aside from that the only remake treatment I'd wanna see is making it look visually like modern games and maybe some kind of voice acting. ... Seeing Aya with black hair and being half Japanese would be pretty cool too, since it would make her name fit more
also again, while its not on Parasite Eve, the first time you go to the Synthesis Shop in Lindblum in FF9, 2 guys argue over who can make a better sword called Wayne and Torres, its the exact same arguement from when Wayne and Torres argue in Parasite Eve over who can make a better gun ^_^ i still remember when Its Super Effective read it out at the end of one of their videos ^_^ i miss that channel
Parasite Eve is something I really enjoyed. And have collected a lot of things involving it. I have the novel in English, the movie on DVD (English Subtitled), multiple versions and editions of all the games (and their soundtracks), and the manga/visual novels (some in Italian and some in Japanese). Despite it not catching on as much in the States, I have become fond of it. Also, on a side note, in Chocobo Racing for PSone, you can unlock Aya to race as. She drives an NYPD police car.
I cannot recommend the novel enough! Although Hideaki Sena uses many technical terms relating to biochemistry that the layman probably has no idea what they mean, the story flows quite naturally, If you can get past the lab jargon and terminology upfront. However, the game and the book should be seen as stand alone stories, loosely based on common themes and concepts. Parasite Eve, the book and the game, hold deep nostalgia for me since this was the very first game I played on my PS1. 🙂. I completely agree, this game deserves a Hollywood version of its Japanese movie’s counterpart💯!
I have never heard of this game until this video was in my recommendation feed. So thank you so much for doing videos like this. It gives me a reason to keep playing games and be on the lookout for games i never heard of. So thank you again. Much love lol
I'm surprised that you did not mention the level 37 barrier. Each level takes an increasing amount of exp to get to the next level, which is troublesome as the encounter rates go down the more you fight on each screen. Getting to level 38 is damn near impossible, but if you do you will find each level after that only costs between 5-7k. This is easier to achieve on ex mode, and getting to level 99 is feasible if you put some effort into it.
DO leave it to Wayne! It's the only way to get the AK-47, which is the most powerful gun in the game. It also has the most slots for things like Command X3.
Why? I routinely finish the normal playthrough with a pimped out SG550 -- not even the "best" rifle, in terms of attack power, but it has more slots than the G3. I give it ROF3, Acid, Tranq, Quickdraw, and Double Command, then make up the difference in attack power (and then some) with bonus points. I carefully funnel ALL of my attack bonuses into a single chain of Tooling thence into that gun. I'll grab maybe 60-100 junk in Central Park, but do the bulk of junk collecting in the EX playthrough -- unused junk carries over! For basic storyline in EX, I just continue to use the saved SG550 from before, as-is. All weapon development in EX is funneled into what will become my Chrysler Building gun, which is the "junk" SMG (P90), configured for killing the numerous and fast mobs in the Chrysler building (because you don't need long range and the SMG has the quickest firing animation). ROF2 (for speed, better overall attack power, and less ammo waste), Triple Action, Quickdraw, Cyanide, etc. Yes there are "better" SMG's findable in Chrysler Building but F that, (Super)tooling everything over is too much of a hassle, and the P90 is enough to clear Floor 66.
"Get ready for lots of spontaneous combustion... and a lot of talk about sperm..." Those who haven't played PE: ...wat... Me: laughs by exhaling out of nose, "Yuppers..."
Parasite Eve is a pretty good book with a good buildup to a tense and interesting finale. There's a lot of microbiology and biochemistry in it, which might turn some people off, but it's a lot less narratively bulky than the biology (and far less pretentious than the chaos theory) found in Jurassic Park.
The chests in weapon room don’t refill if you keep opening them! Not infinite for sure. Only open if you find certain bosses are too hard for you. Prefer to pick up medicine 3 instead of 1 and 2...
Saw the movie years ago on Showtime or something. Very interesting, even as a kid I was drawn into it. Wouldn't mind seeing it again. Also been keeping an eye out for the book. Haven't found it locally yet, will probably just order it sometime soon.
The fact that Eve almost burned down Carnegie Hall made me hate Eve so much. Like you don't just burn down a building with so much music history and a place where all musicians yearn to perform.
One fact is that in PE 1 you encounter almost all kinds of animals, most of them are arthropods and what it could be a protozoan, related to biology just as the main plot.
Once you knew the 300 pieces of junk secret, the wasted time in life you spent to get it. Back and fourth in the park, hoping to get an encounter with crows so you could melee hit them with the police club that had the "steal" ability. The best junk weapon IMO, was the rife but he coolest was the machine gun where you would use up the infinite amount of bullets you already had stored.
I still have my copy of PE2. I played the first game but had to play a bootleg copy because it wasn't released in Europe. I dont have it anymore so I want them to release it so I can play it again. It is also ultra rare so if you have an orginal copy you treasure it because it is like gold now.
Mike Greg technically yes. But it’s called the Third Birthday. I think due to licensing issues with the name Parasite Eve name. The 3rd game is a psp (and PS Vita) only game if I remember correctly.
Beatinh Crysler isnt so hard, you just have to know the trick. Before the fight with the ultimate being you can save one gun and pne armor for the next round. You have to dump all your BPs into the attack stat of that gun, then play another round and do it again. Doing that multiple times you get the attack power to very high values like 500. Them you go to Crysler and one shot everything.
A note on the good luck charms: I believe the last charm Maeda gives you is to save a space in your inventory for Maeda's Gun. Once you receive the gun, the charm disappears. The other two charms really do seem to have no use.
The yellow chocobo under the big red scary dino chocobo looks more like how they should. I'm pretty sure Wayne actually makes the best junk weapons when you leave it to him. They may not be as obviously powerful but I think the one of the handguns he makes has like 10 customization slots or something crazy. You just have to be patient enough to savescum for the right thing, which if you've farmed 300 junk legitimately you obviously have patience in spades. "Getting the true ending is hard" he says, while clearly using Gameshark. The armor swap glitch is mentioned in the official guide too. There was a lot of conjecture around Maeda's charms. For a long time the last one, the Narita, was believed to be a placeholder spot for Maeda's Bullets crate in the final boss fight but that wasn't true. The endings of the book and movie are very different. Book Eve gives birth to an Ultimate Being like Game Eve does but Movie Eve doesn't. Also manga adaptations are rarely canon, Parasite Eve's probably isn't either. I think Baker dies in it so yeah. I hope Maeda isn't based on Mr. Sena because in The 3rd Birthday he's a creep who lusts after Aya's baby clone sister and watches Aya in the shower.
I still have my 3cds of PE. I was addicted to this game, the plot and the combat system were ace, but I don't have the same love with PE2 The 2000 kids don't have an idea of how much awesome Squaresoft were at the time. Used to be my favorite developer by far; every title lauched by them was a blast that everyone wanted to give a shot, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross/Trigger, Xenogears, the best Final Fantasy era and the epitome of their brilhantism, for me at least: VAGRANT STORY. Good times...
Let’s not forget about the infinite common gun trading cards you can get behind that one fallen cabinet in the hospital. I actually did the Chrysler Building 3 times I think. You really have to go through all the items rooms on each floor to get all of the rare gun trading cards, best weapons, rarest abilities and of course, the Super Tool. Some floors took me almost an hour to get through and the bosses were some of the hardest I have ever faced. It really pays to farm Junk from the crows in Central Park early so you can get one of the OP weapons from Wayne. What a great freakin’ game.
Thanks! Didn't know there was more to PE besides the game. Now I've gotta read the movie and the book. I thought I was so smart learning about mitochondria back when I played it as a kid. lol
Currently playing through PE1 on my Vita and then I’ll play through PE2. Fun Fact: My chocolate Lab who is sitting next to me is named Aya. I’m 36 years old and still love this game as much as I did in 1997.
The grinding for junk, speed running the game to build up my weapon/armor stats, but it was worth it to go up the Chrysler Building. Faced that gauntlet to confront Original Eve and have the mother load of victories for the time.
I have recently discovered an incredible idea hidden away in the back of my mind that fits with you currently working on a horror game if you are interested in doing something genuinely unique and truly frightening.
If you return to the fountain in Central Park and fight the flock of crows a second time, you fight one giant crow instead of a flock of crows. Then the giant crow turns into a flock of crows. That is the only fun thing I found when I was re-visiting areas that I'd already gone through. :)
One of my all time favorite games. Ost is unique, listen to it on a regular. I own the original pe1game on ps1 as well pe2. Have it downloaded on my ps3 as well ps vita. I would hope they remake or least do a gd for the ps4
You missed a key one. If you complete a "Day" without saving, at the end of the "day" you get a bonus. iirc extra tools for modding guns n such I think. Been a while.

Your right Katie those games are like gold and u never know it just might get re released 😋
Being one of the few who has read the original novel, number 1 really made me smile. Subscribed as of this comment.
This game needs a reboot!!
Love the Parasite Eve game. I would love to see the trilogy remastered.
Trilogy ?There are 3 games,not 2?
Mike Greg technically yes. But it’s called the Third Birthday. I think due to licensing issues with the name Parasite Eve name. The 3rd game is a psp (and PS Vita) only game if I remember correctly.
This is the only game that scared me so much I never beat. Thanks for the video
Madonna was once interested on making a parasite eve movie
Invidente7 really? Where can I read about this?
meh
Parasite Eve 1 is a terrifying game. A remaster would be most appreciated.
Aya has mako infused eyes just like Cloud Strife
same with that blond hair it
may be a coincidence or an omoge to him who knows
Pretty sure FF 7 influenced it. Eve and Aya give me Sephiroth and Cloud vibes. I wonder if there are some ships with those characters out there.
@@BlackCroft666 I'd look at the picture at 05:15 , or do you mean with each other? just dont put Eve and Jenova in the same room we might all die
On the world map pressing select will make the camera follow a helicopter
I believe that on one of the Soho screens there are names of developers or something as graffiti.
One of the best horror games!
I still have my 3cds of PE. I was addicted to this game, the plot and the combat system were ace, but I don't have the same love with PE2
The 2000 kids don't have an idea of how much awesome Squaresoft were at the time.
What a great freakin’ game.
also on the world map pressing Select changes the view to a Helicopter that the camera follows ^_^
This is one of my favorite games!! I really need to pick it up again and play it.
Literally one of the best horror games to ever come out. Especially true now, with all the garbage coming out.
I would love a remake of this.
The grinding for junk, speed running the game to build up my weapon/armor stats, but it was worth it to go up the Chrysler Building. Faced that gauntlet to confront Original Eve and have the mother load of victories for the time.
Thanks for taking Parasite Eve into the spotlight. ❤
If this ever gets a remake like RE2 I can die happy.
I have recently discovered an incredible idea hidden away in the back of my mind that fits with you currently working on a horror game if you are interested in doing something genuinely unique and truly frightening.
Didn’t know this game had an alternative bad ending. It’s definitely worth playing, so is part 2. The movie is okay.
You call Aya a thief in the first game, yet she needs everything she can get to stop Eve from fucking up the world.
If you return to the fountain in Central Park and fight the flock of crows a second time, you fight one giant crow instead of a flock of crows. Then the giant crow turns into a flock of crows. That is the only fun thing I found when I was re-visiting areas that I'd already gone through. :)
It's on my list of best games of all the time!!!
Play it a lot back in 1999/2000...Time passes too fast...
One of my all time favorite games. Ost is unique, listen to it on a regular. I own the original pe1game on ps1 as well pe2. Have it downloaded on my ps3 as well ps vita. I would hope they remake or least do a gd for the ps4
Love these Top 10 videos, keep it up man!
Great vid, wish they did more with PE (although not by following the tropes of The 3rd Birthday, that was ass). Hoping to see a similar video on PE2!
Was just thinking the same thing lol
Its the parasite eve! Got a feelin in your stomach cos you know that it's comin for ya
Small correction: regarding the infinite items, they're not really infinite. While they do restock quite a number of times, eventually it stops
I was so proud of myself beating the chrysler building when I was younger
You missed a key one. If you complete a "Day" without saving, at the end of the "day" you get a bonus. iirc extra tools for modding guns n such I think. Been a while.
You mentioned Star Wars and failed to say midi-chlorians and tried make it sound like mitochondria.
You..are..the..Best! 👏🏻
Couldn’t beat the last boss many years ago. Thanks for the vid. It’s time to take the dust out of my copy. 🙌
I read "Parasite Eve 1", I instantly press like!
Never thought I'd see this game again you just earned a sub!
