    very interesting, but isn't jade susceptible to climate as rain or sunshine?

    • @tomojulitaiga
      @tomojulitaiga 9 лет назад +2

      +eclecticism any mineral through time is susceptible to weather conditions, air, water, sunlight, etc. Nevertheless, jade, depending on the amount of Iron it contains, threw time as I explained, can be damaged by anaerobic oxidation of Fe2+ by the protons of water, and also hydrolyzed by it. But this doesn't happen instantly, this process for some jade stones can take hundreds of years. I hace found jade, jadeite and even nephrite in perfect condictions and even translucid ones, without any crack at all, wich can give you an idea of how incredibly resistant jade is even on the harshest enviorments. In modern days, many antient jade carved pieces that date from thousands of years ago, like in China and Mexico, have been found even with some areas that still conserve polishing.

    @8:37, Jade by nature, extremely hard ...... Wrong, Jade hardness is about 6.5, quartz (sand) is about 7. Jade is not hard compare to Ruby & Sapphire that hardness no. 9.

      +54living The hardnes you are refering to is only related to the Mohs scale, wich is based on the ability of hard minerals to scratch softer ones. Diamonds are 10 in the Mohs sclae despite they brake easier compared to jade, so when we refer to hardness we refer to other elements as well. Jade IS extremely hard and some jades, like black jade is very very hard, some samples I have cut were 8 on the Mohs scale and even harder than many rubies I have cut and this is due not to a number in the Mohs scale, but because jade mineral arrangement makes it difficult to cut even when diamond discs are used.

      tomojulitaiga Diamond breaks due to too brittle. The harder is the more brittle. Diamond cuts diamond (only harder thing can cut to harder, I never know jade is hard). You may confuse with impact action & abrasive action. I was born in Burma & my family is doing jewelry business in Burma so far (I'm not Burmese citizen anymore). As far as I know, jade must be polished with bamboo (especially in HK). Ruby & sapphire (corundum group) are Mohs scale 9. Of course harder than jade. About the precious stones, what people value is hardness, colour, light reflection & of course flawless (clear, no crack etc.). Chinese like green colour (even north & south are different, the northerner like dark green & the southerner like light green). But for Burmese, they like diamond & ruby, Mohs no. 10 & 9. They don't like jade. That's what I know about Burmese.
      Recently, I learnt that, in Burma where the jade producing area (Pha An), landslide & over 100 miner are killed.
      Anyway, you may have much more experience than me about jewelry since you're cutting the jades. Anyway, better refer to minerals from Geology books.

      54living yes, but so tough! the Chinese used it for anvil years ago! because of it,s interlocking fibers, it can withstand massive blows and come out smiling! (as if jade could smile)

    Why worship the jade stone? Are we forgetting it's creator the one true and living God. The God of Isaac, Jacob, Abraham. God desires a relationship with you his creation. You may have all the riches of this world but if you don't have a relationship with your creator what good is it all? It is empty. It is all in vain.
