Love watching your videos on picture framing and on all your other videos as well keep up the good work Jon.
Good video. I'm now looking at the Cadex 23g pin nailers. It looks like newer models are available since you did your review. The tools also look somewhat pricey, but good tools tend to be that way.
Jon, that has to be the record for unboxing a new tool and building a frame. Nice.
Good call on the Cadex, I have the same one and it's great.
Hi Jon. Don't forget to put felt stickers all over it. This will ensure lots of questions.
I've had mine for a few years.... LOVE it.
Jon, nice review! I like all your videos. I really liked this video style of your frame build. Maybe you could do some more sped up build videos.
Jon, love all of your videos. You're a real interesting guy. One quick note. Did you notice how the pins in your first demo came out a bit curved on the bottom? Sometimes the pins will blow out the side of the picture frame as well so you should always keep your fingers well back when holding the miters closed or you could run a nail into your finger. Very painful! (Ask me how I know this)
I shot myself in the thumb with a Grex pinner. I had the safety pull back and accidentally also pulled the main trigger while it was pointed at my thumb. Luckily it went into the fleshy part. I immediately pulled it out. If one wasn't careful and not wearing safety glasses, one could shoot oneself in the eye. Safety first!
Nice review, I need to pick up a pin nailer myself.
Nice review, Jon. The tip on this nailer, as well as the Grex pin nailer, is replaceable. It is soft and is not supposed to mar your wood. A nice feature. A two inch pin through any wood is impressive. How much at retail?
hi john.. it help me a lot
thank you so much
god bless u
Great review. Were you able to get by without plugging the holes. That would be worth the cost of a pin nailer alone! I love your work.
John Chirico The frame is in a shot at the end of the video. I could see the pin holes, but John used an oil/poly? finish. With paint is may be a different story...
I’ve had a number codex nailers the early Gunn’s had problems with there drive pin they broke often and it was almost cheaper to buy another gun all inal they have improved dramatically would not hesitate in buying another
Nice review Jon.
Thanks.
I'm finally getting a nail gun and as I recall (which may be incorrect) there's a specific brand of nails that you recommend. I've tried to find the video, but to no avail, and it wasn't the topic of the video, it was just an aside tip.
If I'm remembering completely incorrectly, is there a certain brand of nails you prefer for 23, 18, and 16 gauge guns? Thanks, again.
Good review, Jon.
great review
I actually have the HF pin nailer...some people will look down but I have had no problems with it
Jajajajajjajajaja same here, not because of being cheap, is just that before HF pin, i owned a PC & senco, but it was more the problem than what i was getting done. But now i do need a pin with lonver nails.
How has the Cadex performed so far? Could it be improved?
I'm looking to install 3/8 red oak baseboard through 1/2 drywall into 2x4 wall studs.
Thanks
Wow... 2" pin nails??? That's amazing hahah! Cool frame & painting btw
Thanks Sal
I have seen the Cadex at Rockler. Are they worth the price difference? Seems like it was about 50% more than the Porter-Cable
You probably know but there is a direction to insert the pins in the gun, mine have a arrow on them stamp on the side.
Cheers from Canada
Please suggest me, which is best and better machine and tools company for woodworking? I want to buy every machine and tools in my Organization.
I have this gun , I don't use it a lot because it does not drive pin all the way in, which makes it useless since it's impossible to nail punch a pin.tips anyone.
Parme Sane same. Wasted $300
You sure you didnt lack pressure? Thats usually the fix to that problem
Look closely at the pins, there is printed directional arrows on all of them. Or there should be.
Pretty powerful for a 23g pinner. sheesh
Does anyone know where I can purchase 1 9/16" Brad's for the cadex. All I can find here in lethbridge is headless pins.
What is the shortest length this will work with?
how much is this Gauge pin nailer, what is better company for this nailer?
I have never seen someone open a box that fast lol
Is this the same as a C1?
Easy to fire the pins without having it pressed against the wood, sounds very dangerous to me
Dont be such a baby
You put your fingers way to close to the nail bro WTF
