From what I can tell the riser pictured is actually components from two separate part numbers. Here is what I found: dl380p riser with 2x PCIe x16 connectors: 662525-001 (does not come with the metal GPU cage pictured in this video). dl380p riser with 1x PCIe x16 and 1x PCIe x8 connector: 728536-001 (comes with the double-width GPU cage). I installed the tesla m40 using the power cable shown in the video, but the card was not recognized in ubuntu or in the bios. This was on a proliant g8 with 2x750w power supply. Eventually I got it to work. The steps I did: - Updated the bios via ILO (you need to enable ilo in the bios, specify an ip adress, set up a username and connect ilo port to the router) - Used linux drivers from the nvidia website - Enabled 4g encoding in bios (press ctrl +a to enter the menu) After all of this the gpu was still not recognized. I put the server in performance power mode and the card finally got recognized
For this Server Typ you need for Proc 1 on the right Side the GPU cage with part Number 752803-B21. With bending a part of the cpu 1 cooler mount and get rid of the server mainboard handle, you can install 2 GPUs in this typ of server.

I noticed quite a few differen blower options, and I noticed you set yours in there as well. But is there adequate space of putting a blower on there without removing the plastic protector for the memory?
How do you have your bios configured? I have an HP DL380 G8, and the bios doesn't even recognize the card, nor does the operating system. Also the G8 GPU Entitlement Kit, does not provide the right power adapter. In your video you use an adapter to go Male to Female to the power kit, I don't have this power cable, but what is the part number also?

So if you had a single slot card like a P400 you could get away with adding it correct? I'm about to repurpose a number of GL380's and wanted to get a card in them for Plex transcodes.
What wattage is your PSU? I´m trying with a K80 in a DL560 gen8 and can´t power on the card. If I connect and external PCIe to the tesla (comming from an external PSU powered on) it can detect it. Otherwise is impossible. I have redundant 750W PSUs..
@@makafre Yes. You need to bypass the power directly from the PSU. Soldering the cable to 12V pins. It is not a perfect solution, but I discovered HP doesn´t power the GPU via the raiser. So itś the only solution.
@@FongangDassiJean Uhm, Using 3 slot PCI riser. I think the model number is: HP 662524-001 . Bare in mind, there is 1 full size PCI-E slot and 2 8x slots. These risers are quite common and cheap as well.
@@FongangDassiJean I'm only using the GPU in one slot until have found a good source of dual gpu risers. However, the GPU supports multiple slots and just have it in singular slot atm.

thanks for sharing I am happen to be doing the same install , only I am working on a (HP NVIDIA QUADRO M6000 24GB MAXWELL GPU) and trying in a ProLiant DL580 Gen9, but is not coming up, I see you are using a riser and wonder that is what I am missing in my install? the server side has a block in the power connectors with 10hole adapter to insert power cables, but I see your riser comes with that connection, can you share the part number for your riser ? Hi , Yes these are quiet. Windows 10 works fine however a lot of drivers need to be installed manually and is very time consuming. We would recommend going for the Dell R720 instead , easy to setup and cheaper to get parts.

-1-your psu is a 240w....the gpu is 250w -2-sff not enough place inside for a gpu so big, the cpu is in front the pcie port and the tower pc support only low profile -3- the motherboard is non standard, and is incompatible with regular tower pc -4- the psu is non-standard too, you need to convert an atx psu to make it compatible with a hp8300 sff your best bet is an e-gpu... so you need something like that : EXP-GDC v8.5 mPCIe version + your gpu + tower+ atx PSU + StarTech 1x PCIe to mPCIe adapter

My config is: same riser with two x16 pcie slots, x2 e5 2697 v2, 2 different but not original cables 10pin - 6pin, also updated a server with special script from hp for v2 processors and no luck, don't have power from riser . Will the SL250s G8 also allow this Nvidia P100 GPU? I know the spec sheet only says it allows Nvidia K40. But if this works with DL380p G8, will it work for SL250s G8 also??? Thanks

hey I had same issue and found out it was due to the power cable. Also try to upgrade BIOS and firmware via SPP that might help

Yes , single slot should work without this optional riser.

I‘ve read often, you need 2x 1.100W PSU Upgrade - same failing with Tesla M60 on 2x 750W PSU

I have been using the GPU riser the server came with, and had no idea they make dual 1s. Shame they're rare as hens teeth.

Get a extra fan , T4 is passive cooled and needs air.

This is not working, cos I have exactly the same riser, power cable and gpu and it does not work... it is cos hpe dl380 gen8 doesn't have 4g encoding.
You can activate it in the BIOS.
press CTRL+A to activate the hidden service options, and activate 64 bits pcie subsystem.
