This man has one of the best male voices I have ever heard in my entire life. I am a professional singer and voice teacher myself, and let me tell you - this man has some serious vocal talent and he must have had expert voice training of some sort also. His tone, pitch, feeling, vibrato, runs/ornamentation and timing are simply perfection. Wow - what a singer!!!!!
Julez, thanks for your comment. The soloist is Dr. Christopher Jordan. He is ACTUALLY a professional opera singer at present. During the time of this recording, he was a voice professor at a local university. I say all of that to say...you have a great ear! I'm sure that is what makes you successful as a singer and teacher yourself.
This is one of the songs that my aunt wanted played at her funeral two months ago. St. Jude Catholic Church Gospel Choir did an excellent job with it. Love you Aunt Sal and we are missing you.
You know a song is anointed when the preacher has no words! That shouting was for how God brought somebody over, for that mother or father in glory, for that son or daughter needing to be saved, or maybe just the assurance in knowing that I've got a home over there where there's no sickness or pain but joy and peace and the sweet presence of God.
For those who do not understand the Black church, this song could be a catharsis for alot of holder African American people. This song may have touched a raw nerve and the word (heaven) may be symbolic of a better place of a FULL LIFE OF STRUGGLE!
Trying to make it.....Make Heaven my Home.....this is what most churches are missing on Sunday Morning.....TRUE ANOINTING! This was a GREAT PRESENTATION OF THIS SONG! Makes me feel like I'm sitting there in Worship Service experiencing it for myself! Mr. Jordan rocked it.....Keep Praising Him Union Chapel!
i happen to have the pleasure of attending this church every week and if you thought this was a great solo, then you should have heard how well he sang this past sunday..........I got chills........really.
Have Mercy! All of us who want to sing this song need to listen to this deep, authentic version from its context in a worship service so we understand the power of the communication and the traditions.
hallelujah praise the lord he is a good singer and i have to sing this song for my chior and i hope i get the solo and this guy just gave me inpireation
Today is June 2nd 2018 lawwwd have mercy!!!!! ABSOLUTELY Stunning!!!! Yeeeeesssds Suuuuuhhhhhjjh!!!!!! Shout Sister, shout that wig off! Don't let Anyone stop you, only you and God know what you have been through!!!! I say PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!!!! Shout those walls down!!!!
I really like this song and the people reaching out praising and worshiping God thank you God , I'm alone at this moment and seeking praying and this really is uplifting and causes me to pray and reach out unto the Lord ,in this song praises God thank you for posting this it gives me a broken spirit , ,praise the Lord God Amen Amen.
Phillip Forbes I’m so glad to know that this song is a blessing to you. I pray that the spirit of the Lord gives you continued assurance that He is always with you.
@DRJDMA Thank you for the compliment. This piece was out of the box for these singer. But, they did a wonderful job. I would love to hear your choir perform this piece.
@ohboy7277 That is personal taste, I guess. In churches like this, we are not talking performance per se - it is a full on celebration. I don't share their beliefs at all, but I do like this, and I have borrowed a few of his improv bits!
Thank you for this excellent performance. Our choir has used your video as an example for us to strive for. We loved the repetition of "Sometimes.." so we used that.
Fantastic! I would love to know how your audition went. In an academic situation, the level of adlib may be too great. But, I'm sure your teacher will guide you.
@ohboy7277 If you read my full comment, you would see that I was drawing a distinction between performance (i.e. concert) and the church setting - there is no such thing as over singing genuine gospel in a church!!!
Probably the difference between singing it as a performance, where you probably would say this was over-singing, and singing it in church, where it is about the experience.....
@colino72 I honestly have no recolection of commenting on this video. I think someone got on my computer and made this comment. I appologize if what was said offended you. I have never even watched this before.
@Billinindiana First off, every race, religion, nation, and society will have a few radicals within the group that see things in a different way from the rest of the pack. You cannot just take into account one thing that you heard and base that upon all African-American churches. There is more than one church in which black people are members of my friend. And secondly, being African-American myself, I would prefer that you didn't refer to us as blacks or you people.
He has a good voice and everything, but he oversings his way through the song. It seems he is trying to prove that he can sing, rather than make a connection with the words.

The screaming in the background definitely makes it worth it.😂

Soul-stirring! Count me among those who can't seem to find God in the church but can certainly find it in this music.
I'm a pastor. So sorry that your experience of church has not been Church. ❤🙏🏾

The Lord said , I'm paraphrasing ,"if we don't cry out and praise Him , He's gonna raise up the stones and they're gonna cry out".

06:50 My God, what the hell was this????????????????????
Rih Bona welcome to the black-church experience.
You have a good voice please tell the women in the background to calm down.
