I remember how the 3D opening to "Lumberjack Rabbit" apparently sampled the zooming sound from this theme, mixed with the standard 1946-1955 opening theme.
Carl Stalling was experimenting a lot with the LT and MM themes in late 1940 and early '41 before settling on the ones that would last through the mid-1940s (and in the case of the Merrie Melodies' end theme, all the way to 1955). The interesting thing about this one is it sound a lot like the Looney Tunes theme Stalling and Milt Franklyn would use for the 1955-64 period, so it was almost like Carl had this one on the back burner for 14 years and pulled it out in modified form after the studio resumed production following the 3-D shutdown.
Actually I am pretty sure Milt Franklyn came up with this version instead of Carl Stalling. This may explain any similarities to the 1955 version of the theme (which Franklyn also arranged.)
Yeah, it's definitely the first part (I actually first heard this opening on the old toonzone sound board site), every copy of this short online has that first part cut. Now as for the closing, THAT'S the mystery.
You're lucky, I downloaded every post-1964 Looney Tunes cartoon (1964-1969) to one of my flashdrives back in 2011 and 2012. I have posted them all on Vimeo: vimeo.com/user28188220

+John80220 This opening music is extremely good for the audience.

You can find it in the 1941 breakdowns

I think the music composer in the opening is Milt Franklyn, 44.
Joe glow the firefly was conducted by carl stalling though
@@bradleybarnes2241 I meant the opening, not the whole cartoon.
I believe it is.
I found it in my computer. I downloaded this file in 2012

+FanimationXV Sorry. This video is not in this website anymore. It's gone. vimeo.com/user28188220
***** I know, it's because it got terminated a couple years ago by WB's stupid copyright claims!
This is 99.9% good theme song.
75% - this [1941] opening theme song
100% - (1955 - 1964) second opening theme song.
We've never heard the first part of that opening theme tune before.
