It's not about the age or career - it's about the beauty of singing. Plenty of it here.

Lycavittos yes, it sure is and there is indeed plenty. However she deserves extra praise and homage for keeping her voice in such pristine condition, singing CONSTANTLY, to age 70. That’s a very long time for a lyric coloratura soprano and it signifies so many “behind the scenes” things-constant vocal exercises, disciplined lifestyle, knowing your vocal limits and singing within them, etc. These are the honorable things which, in the final analysis, allow her to sing so beautifully on this video (and beyond-this piece is easy compared to the Maria Stuarda finale she NAILED two weeks later). Throughout her entire career her voice remained full and resonant, totally unforced and steady, with perfect coordination of registers and with great bloom on the tone. Her breath span is long, her phrasing is patrician, and her top notes up to D and Eb still thrilling beyond words.
Taking into consideration the age and the career simply magnifies beyond measure the enjoyment of the beauty of the singing for me.

Miss Devia at 70 sounding gorgeous! Her tones on “hostia” RING through the hall! This great soprano has sung fiercely difficult roles for 45 years and in this, one of her last public appearances, there’s not so much as a scratch in her voice at an age when very few sopranos are singing professionally. Less than 2 weeks after this performance she sang a concert which included the Maria Stuarda finale (complete with high D!). She will retire completely very soon, but what a stunning career she has had.

I do, but not all pieces are of a good sound quality. Mingardo is a breathtaking musician, I'd wanted to listen to her for a long time, but she is also insanely difficult to catch at the distance without the professional setup. If I manage to get other excerpts up to the acceptable quality, I will upload. Their Qui Tollis was the best I've ever heard.

Yees. I listened to a recording of 2012 and was fascinated.
Mingardo is bravisima, but she has so few records at least on this platform.

Accademia di Santa Cecilia yes, I understand the musician unions are complex. Alas, the world won’t come to an end if you have to take it down, but the world will be deprived of hearing a short (5 minute) excerpt of one of the lovely, historic final public performances of the LAST GREAT ITALIAN SOPRANO. Fortunately the world can console itself with the many authorized videos of operatic performances by La Devia which are more representative of her true talent.
