Look him up, there is video documentary about Mike. He was American born, but at 12 loved the Samurai swords so went to Japan to learn the art and is a Master at observation. Every 4 years Japan has a sword viewing championship and you have to pick up three unknown swords look at them and tell the judges who made it and when (its all in the blade). Mike won his first time entering it and has taken home 2nd and 3rd place several times. He gives his teacher all the credit for his skill. By the way there are over 60 thousand possible answers with each blade during the competition in Japan.

That's the price range I was thinking too. Because if you buy a real katana sword from Japan today, it'll cost you about 7k Those swords being over 400 years old would be around 50K+ for all three. He under appraised it drastically. Even if the signature was a forgery, its an authentic 15th century sword. Especially the technique of how a katana sword was made during those days.

The expert was making a big deal about the swords being signed, which in itself is not the be all and end all of Japanese swords. He was correct that even back then they realized that more famous smiths signatures brought more money. There is a well known story that there were two sword smiths who had forges side by side, one was very well known and the other not so much. One day the famous maker heard the smith next door hammering a name onto a blade and he could tell by the hammer strokes that he was signing the famous smiths name and not his own. In a rage he grabbed a sword and went next door and cut off the hand of the lesser man for trying to forge his name on his inferior blade.

So here you can see that the user's name, Zorro Gaming is actually on the picture as well. So that's a good sign. And also you can see that this comment is over a year old and that's good too, because when a comment becomes a year old or more, it acquires seniority and its value increases tremendously. So looking at this, there's no doubt in my mind that it is a genuine comment made by a genuine RUclips user. In a competitive market these will run you anywhere from 4 to 5...

It's possible Mike has an intraocular lens implant (post cataract surgery or presbyopia correction) optimized for near vision, and wears glasses to see far. So he takes off his glasses to look at close-up details. Or he's just myopic enough that his distance glasses make it a strain to focus closely.
