I would watch an entire show just about Mike explaining the lore of various swords. Easily my favourite expert they call in, calm demeanour, very knowledgeable and always seems very friendly
Look him up, there is video documentary about Mike. He was American born, but at 12 loved the Samurai swords so went to Japan to learn the art and is a Master at observation. Every 4 years Japan has a sword viewing championship and you have to pick up three unknown swords look at them and tell the judges who made it and when (its all in the blade). Mike won his first time entering it and has taken home 2nd and 3rd place several times. He gives his teacher all the credit for his skill. By the way there are over 60 thousand possible answers with each blade during the competition in Japan.
It's because Japanese ppl always show respect to ppl they jest meet or are in business with. Where most Americans show disrespect in the first 5 seconds of meeting you for no other reason then because they want to. I personally try to show respect for my fellow man until they give me a reason to not.

That's the price range I was thinking too. Because if you buy a real katana sword from Japan today, it'll cost you about 7k Those swords being over 400 years old would be around 50K+ for all three. He under appraised it drastically. Even if the signature was a forgery, its an authentic 15th century sword. Especially the technique of how a katana sword was made during those days.
I'm surprised at how little they were going for. $13000 sounds very cheap for 3 x 500yr old blades. I'd love to own one myself. Their masterpieces of engineering.
I think the value was a bit lower because of the forgery but it still seems low forsure, id expect them to sell for around 10k each (the authentic ones at least)

In a rage he grabbed a sword and went next door and cut off the hand of the lesser man for trying to forge his name on his inferior blade.
There is a story that Masamune even chased out one of his famous students (O-sa, founder of the Samonji school) because the latter made better swords than him. Although Masamune blades are prized higher than O-sa's blades currently.
I swear, chumlee just acts dimwitted so he can give everyone the middle finger as he pleases
It is just acting, he can be a little like that, but they exaggerate it only for entertainement.
We need someone going in there with books daily. Summon the goddess Rebecca.

No, you two are _not_ alone. You are not the only _sapiosexuals_ around.
Better title: Chumlee buys Roronoa Zoro's swords.
Captain Casey Jones Ehhhh
I love how Mike salues the swords when he removes or replaces them in the sheath!
If Rick had cut the deal, he wouldve only paid $800.
Jay Tee nah cause Rick would've wanted an expert to check them out first. And after the experts saying they're worth 13k the customer would've wanted more than what chum paid for them.
Jay Tee Or $80, if it was the old man. 😁
no he would have refused to buy it. the guy was selling or walking. he would have wanted to bring in an expert and the guy would have just gone across the street. It was luck for sure, But Rick would have passed it by.
Was that an intended pun
More like $8000 cause he's gotta make some money and clean them and is not cheap. 15k to sell them.
Lol anyone notice that the Asian dude put on his glasses to read the first sword, then took them off to read the second? Lol idk why I laughed at that
because second sword the signature worn out ?
Well wait a minute I need to phone one of thousands of people I got locked in my basement to verify these high price accusations
blue face bonzi legit, he’s like, come over now and just expects them to drop everything to appraise something seemingly for free
I TRULY LOVE THE ( OH GOOD GRIEF ) LOOK ON RICK'S FACE WHEN CUMMLEE WAS STRETCHING ACTING LIKE HE KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT SWORDS .
If Chum wasn't at the shop, I'd watch Antiques Roadshow 100% of the time.
mike has the best voice i want him to narrate everything.
That a boy chumlee you showed them!!! What a buy!!!!
there has to come a moment in my life where i can get the chance to open a sword with my hand like he did at 3:30
Lol if you ever need my help. I'm here for you. Good line Chum
Rick - "It does not take skill to win in a slot machine".
Also Rick (in almost every video) - "I am taking a complete gamble here".
Best Pawn Stars clip ever.
Chumlee's decision just made the Shop 6 or 7 thousand dollars, at least say Thanks. C'mon Rick.
Kylo Ren Yeah, dumb luck helps too.
Where were those "good moves" when your house was being raided, chum-o?
*even a broken clock is right twice a day Chum!*
"Could you put the swords back together, now?" 😳
Me: I have a vintage 100 dollar bill in U.S. Currency.
Pawn Staff: ahhhhhh, ughhhhh **looks up and down**scratches back of head** I'll give you 10dollars for it after I call in an expert I cant lose money here ya see.
Ironman 2056 the money is bended in the middle so..... it is worth $1 only
@@lumi5056 I can't go that low. Lets meet half way, $5.00 dollars, and we both win.
