This game. THIS GAME. Truly the longest and most interesting storyline in a game I have EVER played. Interesting world and characters, and how the fights arent like final fantasy, where you sit there but instead joining the battle yourself! Nostalgia makes me cry every time :')
Still today, the best RPG i've ever played. A real piece of art : the music, the characters, the bonds between them, the storyline, the length, all the little lessons you can learn... I'm sure I woudln't be exactly the same today without all that. This game forged a part of me.
My friends, it's nearly been 20 years... I cannot ever forget this game. The storyline was seared onto my brain back in 2004. Impossibly good, and criminally underrated.
This opening version is the most epic I've ever heard/seen. They could not have chosen a better one because it tells the whole story of the game. happiness, sadness, mystery, hardship, struggeling and its ending. A masterpiece in my opinion
Same here. I love the orchestration of Starry Heavens. It really captures the emotions of the game. In fact, I daresay Symphonia has the best opening out of all the games, and that's saying something because most of the games have great openings too.
My Gamecube copy will forever be a coveted treasure. This opening isn't in the new Chronicles, and that saddens me greatly. Don't get me wrong, because I love J-Pop; I just prefer the orchestral version.
Funny yo should say that about chronicles because that's exactly how I felt when I first put it on and heard the Japanese version my hype amd nostalgia died instantly. Actually went on to RUclips, played this version then began playing XD sorry for spelling errors my phones keyboard isn't working properly.
not me, they completely ruined the intro with that pop music bullshit, this should be the only version for the intro, all others are complete and utter shit
Even to this day, i just can't express how much i love this game. Even to this day, i can't believe how i've fallen in love with this opening music back on the gamecube. I can't type anymore, for there are others, who write the same way i would.
This game was my very first experience with the tales franchise as a kid, and it still stands strong as one of my favorite JRPGS of all time. I remember going into it with low expectations but then being blown away by the story and falling in love with the cast. Even after having played Vesperia, Abyss, Berseria, Arise and the other games, I still hold this game in high regards and think it’s the best tales games. Will always cherish this game with all my heart ❤
+Akasuki ShikiHollow Three ? I never played any othe Tales of game (it's confusing calling it like this since Telltale tends to use this title as well) but I never knew there was three of 'em. I heard only about a sequel on Wii that nobody liked
+ZGYcyberman3 The ports on PC and I think it was PS3(?) are exactly the same. Except the PC port was rather poorly made. I've had no issues running it though.
Just because it's original, doesn't mean it's better. While the original makes the opening much more anime-esque due to the J-Pop, I feel like this one captures the whole fantasy adventure feel, and the tone of the game in general, much more. The fact they got Sakuraba to do this theme definitely helps mesh it with the rest of the game as well.
Well it's tru that this version fit a lot better to what's going on in video on during the actual game. this version is pretty "epic and sad" while the original is all about joy and stuff XD
I kinda miss the tales games when they used to have happy endings though :( Anyways, I know this version was composed specifically for the game. Was the original song composed for the game, or just a J-Pop song they asked if the artist was ok with being the opening for the game?
out of all the Tales games, I still rate this number fucking one, even with it being dated, the story was huge and you got to travel between planets and travel the continents, it help let you grasp of how huge the worlds were. The story was deep.
Anime3691 It’s not just the style either; he seems to have outright re-used the melody at 0:09-0:26 for Golden Sun’s Overworld 3 music (it’s more obvious if you speed it up). ;-)
This remains to be my favorite game of all time. I have played it through 17 times on the old game cube and racked up over a 1000 hours on it. Can you imagine my horror when I fell off my loft, landed on my gamecube, AND BROKE MY MEMORY CARD WITH THAT DATA ON IT? I cried. Not because the fall hurt, but because my heart hurt for losing all that precious time and memories with it.
Oof. I can relate a bit. Way, way back I lend my memory card to a friend with my ToS save of 300hours on it and it accidently ended up in his washing machine somehow. RIP
I had to come look this up, because I was certain that the J-pop song featured on the PS3 HD port was not the theme song on the GameCube version of the game.
I had the same thought. I came across a RUclips video with the Chronicles version and thought that it was strange that I remembered the video but I didnt recognize the song. The song doesn't fit the video as well as the original orchestration in my opinion.
I remember seeing this for the first time on a demo machine at a local toys r us back in 2004, before the game had come out. I had never been so excited over a game I knew nothing about. The only word that came to mind was "legendary." I knew at that moment that this was going to be one of THE great rpgs of the era, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it when it came out.
This English release opening, I feel, was much better suited to the series than the Japanese opening. It had more feeling to it. It accurately, through the them, depicts everything happening and being felt in the series as you make your way through... the Japanese opening felt like some random up-beat song to a Tales Game.
Yep, like hey world is in danger and stuff but the opening is like JOY JOY JOY ! and you see Presea in the burning village and that guy in jail (how could i forhot his name...) and the music is like JOY JOY JOY. doesn't really fit
This has got to be the #1 most nostalgic thing I can think of. That crescendo near the end is just so mindblowingly nice to listen to, again and again, after all these years.
I don't care what anyone says, IMHO this is the better version of the opening. The music FITS the video, every moment of animation has an appropriate musical answer. The drama is dramatic and the touching moments are touching. It just fits.
I've never skipped this intro, everytime time I've played this game. This brings tears to my eyes, nostalgia is strong here. (RIP Mom, it's mainly because of that.)
I played Tales of Symphonia with my little bro every day after school back then, the game was awesome and enjoyable to play, the best game i ever played on gamecube. Now listening this at work and want back to that time. Really nostalgic feeling after hearing this.
The best treasure in my heart. This game will forever be apart of me. The characters, the story, the music. All the complex details in between. Just so beautifully tied together and put in multiple disks. To touch many hearts who stumble upon it.
I've been sleeping on this even though many friends recommended it to me! But the animation brought me here , it was so good ! The characters are awesome! My faves are Colette, Lloyd, Sheena, Kratos and Zelos !😀
I remember buying this game years ago when it came out. I was this noob and didn't know much about gaming, rpg's or the tales series. Good times x) This is by far one of the best games ever created.
I must of spent a good year if not more playing this when I was a kid. It was so damn good. Recently rediscovered the Tales franchise after purchasing Tales of the Abyss on 3DS. I have fallen in love with it all over again. Well done Namco!
Best game I ever got for my gamecube, would literally play this with both of my brothers when we all got home from school, we'd hop on our gamecube and just have a blast going through the towers and all the quest and storyline, this game kept us hooked on both disc! Always a memory for me and my brothers of what we did when we were younger.
Decided to watch the opening (as I love it so much and haven't heard/seen it in a while) and my heart literally melted with the scene in the snow city (forgot the name!) Need to play this again, one of the only games that has actually got me hooked
This game has one of the most captivating plots and most dynamic characters of any game I have come across. Not to mention the gameplay itself is fantastic. I absolutely love this game and it will always have a special place in my heart.
I bought this game when I was 8 and now, almost 10 years later I still consider it the best RPG ever. I've played it through so many times but even now I feel like playing it again. This game introduced me to RPGs, big part of my childhood.
Tales of simphonya means so much for me , i've spent so much time on this game, probably restart the game more than 10 times when i was young, i've bought this year the game on Steam and it make me so nostalgic !!! 2020, he's still the best game ever made !! ❤️
ERR MER GURSH THE NOSTALGIA! back when i was like 6-8 my mom would play this game (and other tales games) so frequently! I even remember the basics of the story at least 8 years later!
All of this time, and this is still my favourite JRPG... 13 years, maybe 14, and I have yet to find a JRPG I enjoyed more... That is including Pokemon games...
I remember...I couldn't figure out how to have my little brother play the game with me using another Gamecube controller...so I called the Nintendo hotline to have someone help me figure it out. Good times. We still quote this game to this day.
This is such a good game... Man, all the hours I use to spend playing it. Iv played a lot of games in my life, but I can say without a second of hesitation that this ones beats them all. Best game of all time.
all the memories
Ahhh came back at 2am to cry about my teens
@@stephanievee4722 oh
Will you play the new remastered version?
Ayo I didn't know you liked ToS! It'd be so cool to hear you talk about it on stream! Have a good one
All of them.
This game. THIS GAME. Truly the longest and most interesting storyline in a game I have EVER played. Interesting world and characters, and how the fights arent like final fantasy, where you sit there but instead joining the battle yourself! Nostalgia makes me cry every time :')
+jillian9358 Not only that but it was a 4 player game. Each player could control a character in battle, was so awesome *_*
Conrad Ritchie
I agree completely :)
Yup, also loved that the story isn't predictable like some other games and actually has some crazy unexpected plot twists!
i prefer tales of the abyss and tales of eternia for some reasons, i cant say theyre better because, well, opinions haha but do give them a try ^^
This game is life
Still today, the best RPG i've ever played. A real piece of art : the music, the characters, the bonds between them, the storyline, the length, all the little lessons you can learn... I'm sure I woudln't be exactly the same today without all that. This game forged a part of me.

Phillip Munteanu i like the English opening better than other
@@mikeehrmantraut1899 this is the English opening.
It’s literally soo good 😭 I got the Switch version and they put the Japanese intro song on it and it just doesn’t feel right 😩
Tales Of Symphonia remains in our hearts and memories even 16 years later ♥ Tears are coming when you hear this song...
Whenever I start to play this Game, I don't skip the intro, even though I saw it so many times.
i do the same with Vespiria
+Nero Tex Same with this, and Breath of Fire IV.
Same here. I love the orchestration of Starry Heavens. It really captures the emotions of the game. In fact, I daresay Symphonia has the best opening out of all the games, and that's saying something because most of the games have great openings too.
I really wish this was the one they used for chronicles. It flows so well with the animation :(
One of the few intros I didn’t ever skip it’s so majestic
best tales of game ever made? yes indeed
Confirm.
I dont know man, Berseria was sooooo good as well. In my opinion Berseria is slightly better but thats a long term discussion for myself.
one of the best but for me Rebirth was The best one
Vesperia doe, gud shit
@@racehallabrin8550 totally, the music, characters and the hub world are awesome, there's also some easter eggs from a certain game *cough*
My Gamecube copy will forever be a coveted treasure. This opening isn't in the new Chronicles, and that saddens me greatly. Don't get me wrong, because I love J-Pop; I just prefer the orchestral version.
As do I. The music gets me blood pumping.

I needed to watch this video every time i turned on my gamecube playing this game.
I am doing exactly that with the Tales of Xillia opening
meatnerd, yeah, one time I turned on my GameCube just to watch the video and turned it off after, LOL
Finally, it's so damn hard to find this version instead of the Japanese opening on youtube
Yeah the jap version seems more popular. Some Japanese openings aren't bad but this definitely is better than the jap version.
This game was my very first experience with the tales franchise as a kid, and it still stands strong as one of my favorite JRPGS of all time. So much intellectual prowess and so much empathy.
I really wish they kept this one in Chronicles :(
I just got chronicles and this was missing in my nostalgia moment... :(
Lloyd and Colette are so sweet :)
Out of all three Symphonia openings this is still my favorite of all of them
+Akasuki ShikiHollow Three ? I never played any othe Tales of game (it's confusing calling it like this since Telltale tends to use this title as well) but I never knew there was three of 'em. I heard only about a sequel on Wii that nobody liked

+ZGYcyberman3 The ports on PC and I think it was PS3(?) are exactly the same. Except the PC port was rather poorly made. I've had no issues running it though.
played the PC port and unless the other ports were beyond fantastic I'd say pc port had little tp mp issues.
Sharil Shahed At least the PC port didn't do what Zestiria or Abyss did in their english releases and remove vocals from the opening.
like this version better than the chronicles version
You mean over the original version?
Just because it's original, doesn't mean it's better. While the original makes the opening much more anime-esque due to the J-Pop, I feel like this one captures the whole fantasy adventure feel, and the tone of the game in general, much more.

The original song isn't so great, there are a hundred better J-pop songs, including any opening from Vesperia onward.
out of all the Tales games, I still rate this number fucking one, even with it being dated, the story was huge and you got to travel between planets and travel the continents, it help let you grasp of how huge the worlds were. The story was deep.
this game is so epic. it's been so long...
Agreed. I remember playing this game when I was in high school :(
The beginning of this piece really reminds me of Golden Sun!
Motoi Sakuraba!!! Composer of the Golden Sun series and this game! (And many other Tales of series and Star Ocean series)
Anime3691 It’s not just the style either; he seems to have outright re-used the melody at 0:09-0:26 for Golden Sun’s Overworld 3 music (it’s more obvious if you speed it up). ;-)
As a huge fan of Golden Sun's soundtrack, when I heard the bit from about 17 seconds to 24 seconds I knew it had to be the same composer.
You're absolutely right! I noticed this to.
This remains to be my favorite game of all time. I have played it through 17 times on the old game cube and racked up over a 1000 hours on it.

Loyd's journey from little town kid to savior of he's world is probably the best thing ever.
*sniff* best game ever!

***** oh I LOVE Presea fighting wise but all of the characters are amazing!
Yes I love her summonings !
Sugarbunny Génis! Indignation judgment! ^^
Sugarbunny Kratos!
This is the best game I've never played, such a good story and many awesome characters, this should be a movie
It has a 4 part Anime series
A movie would be a downgrade
Being 12 years old, going home from GameStop with this game then coming home and playing it just brings back so much memories.

When it shows Lloyd fighting the Skeletons to the group over looking the cliff side...those few seconds of score are chilling, i love it!

just got this game a few weeks ago, going to at last have time to play this and some other games I've gotten now that it's winter brake =)

I loved this game!!! This was the reason I got into fantasy online mmorpgs back in the day!!
Still one of the best games I have ever played. Thanks for bringing back those nostalgic memories :)
