love the video as always, however I have an idea for a better experience. What if you filmed a pruning episode with a go pro camera on your forehead... that way we can see what you see while you are pruning. Too often you are talking about branches but we can't see them as we are at a different angle of the tree than you are.
Nigel, I like your approach but when you have no other choice, or should I say when you want a branch to go a certain way and it won't, do you ever wire?
Yes, I'll be working on the room this summer, getting it set up for making videos, better lights and a good background, this year I just ran out of time!
Would you suggest buying 7” or 8” tools? I’m needing to prune mine and want to get a couple tools. It’s a Fukien tea tree and about 8” tall. I’m looking to buy more trees soon too.
I would recommend small tools for small trees. If most of your trees will be small, I would get the small tools, if you plan on getting some larger trees, then I'd get the larger tools.
Hello. Good Morning. My name is Ferran and I live in Spain, Barcelona. I have recently subscribed to your channel, Congratulations on the videos you share, they are very interesting, although I don't understand English, sometimes with the work you do, more or less I can learn from your videos. I have a question regarding a portulacaria bonsai that I acquired about a year ago. My first job was to change to a larger pot and clean all the dry or dead roots, but the plant has always had a very pale color in the leaves, even the cuttings that I did from a first gentle pruning, after transplanting. These do not show any discoloration on the leaves, they have a bright green color and a very healthy appearance. Well, I do not understand what can happen to my portulacaria bonsai, because it is in the sun and in winter protected from the cold in a cold greenhouse. If you know what can happen to you and can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again for sharing your videos. greetings from Spain and until next time videos👍😊
Hello Ferran, there are too possibilities for discoloured leaves, it may be lack of fertilizer. If the growth is weak looking and not vigorous, then try adding some water solvable fertilizer to your water. It could also be from over watering. Over watering will give you thin weak looking pale leaves with large inter nodes between leaves. They like warm temperatures, full sun and a good draining soil. In the summer mine tends to need watering daily, but indoors in the winter, it's more like once a week. It all depends on the amount of sunshine.
@@TheBonsaiZone Thank you very much for the information. For what you have suggested, I will make a contribution of fertilizer in the irrigation water. When I acquired this specimen of portulacaria, it was full of moss in the nevari, which I removed with the transplant and providing it with a well-draining substrate of akadama and volcanic. Until today I have compost based on organic pellet fertilizer and foliar fertilizer with amino acids, fulvics, vitamins, ... I will look for some chemical fertilizer that contains a little more nitrogen and I will apply it to the irrigation water. I thank you very much for your answer. If it is not any bother to you, I will inform you of the success in the coloring of the leaves of my portulacaria and I will send you, if possible, some before and after photos. Greetings👍😄
Hi Nigel! Nice bonsais! Maybe you could help me, i would like to have a portucalaria afra, but I couldn’t find anywhere near me, i’m from lloydminster Alberta. I hope you could help me with this. Thank you and keep up the good works!
Everything tells me I should do it.
::Crunch!::
It is done...
Bonsai is like a mix between a tree surgeon and barber.
Yes, a good description!
Forests are my favorite style, great job!!
Wauw, it really resembles the real African tree. Look very similar. Great video again Nigel 👍🏼
love seeing this one! :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Bonsai forest is so wonderful specially your sir. I really like your style of making bonsai.
I've always loved Dwarf Jade and in a forest planting like that they just look so so good. Very well done Nigel.
I just love this special forest 😍
I found this tree in India the leaves are very small, the growth is also very good, I like your composition is very beautiful
Many, many thanks Gede!
Trunks look great. Forest coming along nicely.
What an amazing composition!
Oh that forest is wicked. The trunks really do resemble the trees. The way the bark looks too, the texture... Pudgy trees :D
Thanks Marysol!
Stunning trees!! 👍 😀
I love this forest grouping, nice work👍
Thank you Mangesh!
Nice looking forest! Thanks for an update!

This forrest is really cool. Cheers from France and take care
Big improvement!
Thanks Leszek, I think it just needs another twenty years!
I love working on jades, we do a lot of them down here
The forest is so beautiful! Mr. Nigel, have you ever tried making a desert rose bonsai?
I've tried and failed many times, but after more research, I'm ready to grow one again!
Hoping to see a video on it soon if you start one 😊
Nigel, I like your approach but when you have no other choice, or should I say when you want a branch to go a certain way and it won't, do you ever wire?
Nice job. But it would be good if you would choose a neutral background when showing the result. The green of the other plants is somewhat confusing.

@@TheBonsaiZone That's nice to hear. Many Thanks.
This forest is looking ready to explode in the summer!
Yes, once they get into the warmth and sunshine, they grow like crazy!
Looks 👍
Thanks Jacob!

Hi Nigel please get a solid background to see better
Is it common for them to drop leaves after a repotting?
I was watching this in 2x speed, once the music began at 21:39, I nearly went into convulsions 🤣
I'm glad I'm not the only one who watches videos at 2X!!! It's strange how you get used to it!
