- Last Week, on September 11 and 12, Russia, who holds the BRICS Chairmanship this year, organised a high-level meeting of national security advisors in St. Petersburg. Vladimir Putin addressed the group directly, revealing important details about the development of BRICS and the preparations for the upcoming summit meeting in Kazan.
The meeting was held between top-level diplomats of each country, among them Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister and Sergei Shoigu, the secretary of Russia’s security council.
It follows the original address of Vladimir Putin and an analysis what we learn from his descriptions.

This is a great advertisement for the diplomatic approach to dispute resolution and one which the west ought to adopt especially with Russia .

Saudi Arabia got BRICS membership, Argentina was the country who refused the membership because its new president is very aligned with the US, the UK and the EU.
Saudi Arabia is an invitee and has still not joined the group while Argentina had joined the group but later retracted after new government came to power.

The Russian definitely have a lots of experiences as leader of the world. They are a force to be reckoned with. The BRICS organization is so lucky to have 2 superior leaders to lead them. How about a discussion of U.S. sanctions (siege warfare) on BRICS members and aspirants? I would be interested in that very important topic. What are the sanctions and on whom? What secondary sanctions? How have countries fared under sanctions (and confiscations)? What methods have been successful? What are BRICS plans to insulate its members from sanctions?

COOPERATION is the key word here not competition, which is so destructive of the chances of developing countries to ever catch up with the advanced industrial nations of the world.

It is not a fair comparison. BRICS is setting up organizations and functions that the G7 long since set up so would expect a major difference in the number of meetings and of course the G7 is fixed at seven members and not exaanding by another 34.

1) BRICS started as RIC (around @1:00 Putin mentions it) as three equal partners. They added two more nations, all as equal partners. No one nation is more important. Never has been
2) Before the main BRICS meeting, the Foreign Ministers, followed by the National Security Advisors of the 5 core nations meet. Again, no nation is above any other. IF there is a hierarchy, then the Indian Foreign Minister is a lot more important than any other. Events prove my statement
3) Always remember BRICS operates by ***consensus***. A single nation veto will prevent the other 4 from taking action

To achieve partnership and concensus does not have to sound like an insurmountable problem when China is in the core. Only when countries with a history of initiating colonization join in will there be a problem.
BRICS need to find themselves a new name if more countries join up with them. Also language may become an issue in meetings with all of them speaking different languages. Lots of translators needed.
