+Jerry He I miss minechem. I used to hide nitrogen in apples when playing the yogscast modpack, then sell them on the server market, and wait for the death message in chat xD
+Carlos Fernandez That sounds hilarious. I really wanted to give someone a Witchery enchanted apple then watch them fall asleep, but I never got around to it. Also, WAILA says the apple is from Witchery.
My friends said that my math skills would never make me powerful, even in a game. Those poor peasants don't know how many lightning strikes they are to be hit with.
+Isaac Vangerpen That's so beautifully cruel. So far into the void that there's no mod that can give them back their inventory. Unless the server has keep inventory, of course.
This mod is definitely going to be the one that moves me to 1.9.4. This and blood magic both are looking awesome. And the rest of the modder talent moving onto 1.9.4 are looking very dedicated.
It's super sweet! I ended up making a spell which mimics the Builder's Focus from Thaumcraft, but I want to fix one past bug in it before uploading it to the Compendium.
I like PSI, I cast my vote for doing another spotlight if you feel there is enough there. Also, maybe showcase some of the more intricate spells that you have seen
11:50 LLOverlay has 2 modes: Blocklight mode and Real light mode, and you can toggle it with shift+F4. Blocklight is a value calculated from light-emitting blocks (torch, glowstone, lit furnace, conjured light etc.). Real light is max(Blocklight, Sunlight). Sunlight is calculated from how exposed you are to the sky. Yours was in blocklight mode, so it didn't show sunlight :P
I'm not certain I want to program my spells after 8 hours of programming for a living. But you could at least link the original video so we can see how to use the mod in the first place.
I wonder if you can set a spell on your armor, so that it detects if there is a hostile mob behind you, and if you are low on health, it places a 3x3 wall behind you... But, have a timer on it, so it doesn't happen constantly...
MrShadowTempest that wouldent be to hard, but it would be anoying to do, you would have it on leggings and have it target near mobs, then get their pos relitive to yours, set the blocks in correct spots, done, sadly this will drain so much psi
Wow. So now we can build circular structures without needing to look up those schematics. Also... That automatically placing lights (blue nitor?) whenever it's dark is gonna make me get lost in caves... How am I ever gonna find my way back if I can't just follow the torches which I placed on the right?
Those lights are placed as the color you have in the CAD (or the default CAD effect color). They're pretty cool. (The conjured block outlines are also affected by the color in the CAD if present.)
Pretty sure there was a Blink ability and an ability to reverse time for yourself (putting you back to where you were a certain amount of time ago). At least there was in the last version I played
Ok that mod has so many options its literally like solving any programming problem. So awesome. Although thinking with so much math would destroy my brain. You go crazy people and ill just copy it. Cool?
dire, when are you going so make another singleplayer season? It has alredy been a while and I really dont like your multiplayer series (except for wrenched)
PSI is based on the anime called Irregular at Magic Highschool. Pretty cool one, I think it is on Netflix. This is a Tech mod technically. In the anime it is so advanced technology that it is practically magic.
***** i know but in that atempt they are making it more complicated it would be great if psi would have an expert mode where it simply turned from this way into a script interpreter
The moment you figure out exactly which size an explosion can be so it doesn't break blocks, how many of those you need to kill the thing you want, and how you're going to get that many explosions in a single casting. ALTERNATIVELY: The moment you get yourself a Creative CAD and make a spell that puts entities 9001 blocks up.
"i bet you guys remember..." for a version 1.0 you say that allot. i haven't seen this mod before. but even having not seen it before, you really don't spotlight it well. you cover new thigns for maybe half the time then just repeat yourself. what do the blue arrows, red arrows, green arrows and similar on the GUI mean? is there a local positionality on the chart where you write numbers relative to the functionoid cells, or is that simply for the hot bar? wasn't soaryn doing something like this?
Watch the older spotlight that covered everything else in the mod. This is just an "update" or an "addon" to the rest of the spotlight videos on it. They can all be found on direwolf20's channel.
1. He says "you should remember this" a lot because not only did he already do a spotlight on this, but PSI was available before version 1.0. 2. The colored arrows are just visual. They corespond to the requirements of a spell and where that requirement is coming from.
+SuperShesh2 Vazkii talks about those arrows on her website. She made it so that you can tell where is linking to what just by looking at a SS using the color of the arrows.
Nothing is complicated. One must break what appears to be a complex mashup of information into small chunks of understanding. Like a car, sure all together it is complex however, if you separate each component(engine, cooling, braking) and then separate each component further it is easier to understand. In short: look at one thing at a time before looking at the entire picture.
+BananaDog64 Start small. You had to learn to add before you could multiply. I'm not trying to coerce you to learn but just offering (hopefully) anyone who reads the comments that anything can be learned no matter how complex. This doesn't factor the time it takes though some of us only have limited to play minecraft.
+Blu Rabbit You're right, I just have to remember that whenever I face anything intimidating complex, so if I do ever want to use this mod, I could learn it step by step, so thanks for the advice.
+TheDawgMiner I was talking about the "Stone Castle" spell Dire used in the video. You could potentially modify that to create it around another entity instead of yourself.
Still completely unbalanced with an infinitely and rapidly regenerating pretty much free resource, that allows you to do virtually anything, I see. Psi is a neat concept but holy hell is it broken as heck in regards to balancing. I was hoping they would fix that before it left beta stage.
Not unbalanced, they fixed inf flying that was the only realy broken part, its a free resouce because you cant do much with it, you can buff yourself with shit buffs for long times, or short times for big buff
Seif1 Yeah and those buffs you're talking about normally take adventuring in the nether and sometimes rare or expensive resources. It also allows you to place or break stuff with literally no effort, and now it allows you to create permanent light, which light is a big deal in 1.9 minecraft. It's basicly able to do everything Thaumcraft does but Thaumcraft at least makes you work for it and if you abuse your powers you can damage your environment and yourself, so *it* actually has a cost, unlike Psi.
I do agree, psi regen is op and you have basicaly a limetless resourse, but also, thaumcraft is a great well balanced mod, psi has just barely come out, i bet the creator will add some balance, after all creative flight was great, but now its not limetless flight, step in the right direction
Seif1 While that is indeed a step in the right direction, more drastic balancing measures should have been taken *before* entering version 1.0. A lack of balance for a mod in beta was understandable, but for a fully released mod, that level of imbalance is not ok.
Psi seems pretty unbalanced to me from watching the videos on it. Not saying it isn't interesting, but I think it makes things to easy. Especially if you have some coding know how
Your reply seems pretty biased to me from reading it. Not saying it isn't interesting, well ok it isn't interesting but don't use the mod if you find it OP. Simple
That's true. I was just making a statement about it being included in DW20's modpack. It seems pretty powerful for the cost compared to some of the other mods. But you are right. I don't have to use it. I don't know how my response was biased thought. It's cost vs reward, seems to be unbalanced to me is all. I do think it's an extremely interesting mod.
Too complacated. No thanks. Side note and nothing to do with this mod: As someone else also pointed out, hate mod updates. Full spotlights please. Most of us I assume are only casual players and don't know these mods inside out. Hence why most people dislike the computer craft code or things as complex as PSI. I'm still trying to figure out builds you did in season 4 for goodness sakes. Ps. Since you have a direct line to slowpoke dire, and mod packs are his thing. How about. HQM mod packs from the FTB team that show us noobs the finer points of mods in a spotlight type fashion? I bet you would get a lot more people playing if you took some of the brain overload out of playing with 150 plus mods for the normal player. Heck even how minecraft works, red stone, combat, key bindings etc. these no easy to access manual for the basic game. Throw in mods and mod updates it's hard to find what your looking for.
With how large the mods are, if he did an entirely new mod spotlight every time one updated the videos would begin getting upwards to an hour probably 2. That is a lot of time to spend going over things you've already covered. There are also typically Wiki's with how the mod works online. Spotlights are to get you started and show off what you can do, not go into every nuance.
+SuperShesh2 While I can see your point Super with all the changes done to mods over time and trying to get good and useful information is difficult at best to find. Even trying to locate dire's old spotlights is very rough going. Trying to find the mod authors website can be tricky to get info also even if they have a site. I know dire can't do everything. He's only got so much time. He's got work, momma wolf and from the background noise at least 1 baby wolf about the house. But still would be great to have a complete mod spotlight or... Links to old spotlights and web resources to learn more.
+George Slone +George Slone Yeah. More mods (and there are a few that already do this) should have an in game manual. The notable one I know of that does is Botania and the tutorial Psi has. Mods like IC2 and Thermal Expansion to my knowledge do not. And your right, it is harder and harder to find things like that on the Internet. There's just so much stuff. Links would be helpful. (I still like in game documentation slightly more, as videos tend to go a little slow)
+SuperShesh2 yep tinkers I'm game isn't too bad. Immersive engineering has a good one also. But both could go into a little more detail. Example I don't think it tells you anywhere that you can pump liquids in and out of the smeltery. I could be wrong tho. Shrug. All I know is on the current skyblock dire is doing I'm totally lost as I'm no expert by any stretch. It's fun to watch tho. Wish I had more time to devote to the game personally. I end up watching more videos than I do playing.
+George Slone Yeah, I don't think it says that in the in game manual. An instance I've had of hard to find information was I once found a ComputerCraft Lua tutorial program. It was actually pretty good! Then I lost it for some reason and was never able to find it again. Expert mode to me isn't that bad (says the guy who the most automation he has is a cobble gen), but normal is too grindy. I needed Ex Nihlo to get enough resources for anything.
Learning trigonometry and vector math playing minecraft... Good job Psi.
+Jerry He I miss minechem. I used to hide nitrogen in apples when playing the yogscast modpack, then sell them on the server market, and wait for the death message in chat xD
+Carlos Fernandez
That sounds hilarious.
I really wanted to give someone a Witchery enchanted apple then watch them fall asleep, but I never got around to it. Also, WAILA says the apple is from Witchery.
+Zachary Johnson I usually curse people on servers if I'm paid enough xD
My friends said that my math skills would never make me powerful, even in a game. Those poor peasants don't know how many lightning strikes they are to be hit with.
Thats great
Umm EVE?
They wont even be able to count them, fools
What about the landmines that teleport them 300 blocks downwards?
+Isaac Vangerpen That's so beautifully cruel. So far into the void that there's no mod that can give them back their inventory. Unless the server has keep inventory, of course.
"wrap up the episode" THIS IS A SPOTLIGHT BRO
this mod is so inspired from irregular from magic highschool, I LOVE IT
How come Minecraft looks way better when someone else plays it?
becouse its someone else
idk
+Mikkel Arn Andersen ok I guess maybe because it is direwolf.......
likely he has a better computer so things run better
not that xd
Someone make a spell so Dire can make a 9x9 with just 1 click xD
I'm sure dire himself (or maybe vazkii) did that ages ago when the mod was still in development :P
Someone actually made that spell ^^
Vazkii made it shortly after Psi got to Forgecraft 1.8, and Dire used it to build his base that season.
8:10 When damaged: Nearest enemy gets yeeted away.
Yay, trigonometry. What's next? Threads?
Why not?
how about pointers?
calculus ofc
This mod is definitely going to be the one that moves me to 1.9.4. This and blood magic both are looking awesome. And the rest of the modder talent moving onto 1.9.4 are looking very dedicated.
It's super sweet! I ended up making a spell which mimics the Builder's Focus from Thaumcraft, but I want to fix one past bug in it before uploading it to the Compendium.
I'd love a follow up vid with all the more complicated things. Having a quality tutorial to reference is always nice.
Like using trig to calculate what level of "jump boost" you'll need in order to jump up a ledge and have that connected to your boots, kinda thing.
Direwolf, could you do a video on uses for all the maths functions because so far, I really don't see the point of a lot of them.
Wait is this mod based off of the Iregular at High School Magic?
Yes
Do you know if there is a season 2. I can't find it if there is
+jake O'Shaughnessy I don't think that anyone knows. But the light novels are still going,so maybe.
This is one of the coolest mods currently. Vazzki really put something out there
I like PSI, I cast my vote for doing another spotlight if you feel there is enough there. Also, maybe showcase some of the more intricate spells that you have seen
11:50 LLOverlay has 2 modes: Blocklight mode and Real light mode, and you can toggle it with shift+F4. I'm not certain I want to program my spells after 8 hours of programming for a living. But you could at least link the original video so we can see how to use the mod in the first place.
Please make one more episode this is fun
Nice to see Rod of the Bifrost and Mana Lens Flash become available. Now we just need the living wood avatars.
Who else thought that the mine bullets were to mine out stuff?
You can use a vector to save 3 values per vector
Can this be used to summon the four horsemen?
I really like this mod. It is extremely complex, and very well done.
Soooo this is basically a revamped, technical version of ars magica? I'm sold. Better start learning trigonometry xD
Place Block + Sleep or Eidos Changelog = How to close the path behind you while making a run for it. #psimagitech
PlaceBlock with a time set on it
That's just what I was thinking.
I wonder if you can set a spell on your armor, so that it detects if there is a hostile mob behind you, and if you are low on health, it places a 3x3 wall behind you... But, have a timer on it, so it doesn't happen constantly...
MrShadowTempest
#ideasforvazkii
MrShadowTempest that wouldent be to hard, but it would be anoying to do, you would have it on leggings and have it target near mobs, then get their pos relitive to yours, set the blocks in correct spots, done, sadly this will drain so much psi
Dire you need to make a spell that builds a 9 x 9
I want to see some uses of the trigonometry functions! :D
Add the castle with the helmet's stress sensor
castle of stone xD Log Horizon reference :3
i have an idea... give keybindings to changing spells on your psi gun and then make bullets and stuff and create Overwatch in minecraft
I want a second one.
0:03 THOSE. LOOK. AMAZING.
Welcome to Psi, enjoy your stay.
Um. What are "those"
+Lamp46 Spell Programming I assume
Lamp46 I mean the machines...
By the time of this writing, no one has finished this video yet
you are wrong, look at when the first comment was posted
+bjam89 oh snap, someone saw this a day ago
+David Leal (Ddog357) the mod maker
+bjam89 guess I should have looked at the profile first
BEST MOD EVER
Do a video on the advanced math stuff.
do a second one, please!
+Zedrik von Katmahl
Also, I prefer placing the lights myself rather than autoplacing. I'm a control freak like that.
I wish there was a way to teleport using psi, then we could have Tracer's recall ability. That would be sooo cool.
Pretty sure there was a Blink ability and an ability to reverse time for yourself (putting you back to where you were a certain amount of time ago). At least there was in the last version I played
+Chrono_Knight (Randolfr) Oh, right. I forgot about that.
Afaik there is almost exactly that same mechanic as one of the standard, inbuilt "tricks"
can you set multiple charges off with one detonator
Ok that mod has so many options its literally like solving any programming problem. So awesome.
Although thinking with so much math would destroy my brain. You go crazy people and ill just copy it. Cool?
has anyone got the link to the lighting on whoever hits you and other stuff dire has made/used?
you need to watch haha its very easy just try
use the explosion spell with the vector ruler: Remote Explosives!
I know I can use the charge spell but this one is invisible to everyone unlike the other one
Or with the saved vectors in the CAD
God damn it Evan more complicated math that no one probably paid attention to or had trouble with
Has anyone used the trig math to automate sky island creation for skyblock style mod packs?
Use the conjure block as a draw bridge
dire, when are you going so make another singleplayer season? It has alredy been a while and I really dont like your multiplayer series (except for wrenched)
Is Psi magic or tech? I sometimes wonder if mod creators have a story behind there mods how the items and energys where created etc.
seems like a magic tech mod..
PSI is based on the anime called Irregular at Magic Highschool. Pretty cool one, I think it is on Netflix.
This is a Tech mod technically. In the anime it is so advanced technology that it is practically magic.
ImmortalTimothyM Thank you
both
Psi is based on an anime i guess its a magic and tech mod hybrid the anime is called :Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
Can you come back from the dead with Eidos? I just finished watching Irregular at Magic High School (the anime this mod is from) for the 5th time
I have psi 1.9.4 and if i right click with any spell bullet it dosen't work it brings mi into the spell programer please help
F I R S T
I
R
S
T
:^)
lmao, good work vazkii
i think there should be Silver Horn CAD as a creative item
No vector cross-product? :(
Vector cross-product doesn't seem like it would ever be useful here though.
Pretty sure a Silver Horn CAD is already there
my inner weeaboo is slowly coming out of its hidey hole XD
Hey Dire! I don't know if you've mentioned it ever, but do you know if you can put more than one trick in a spell?
Never mind! Yes you can lol It's the Projection stat
my problem with this mod is the more complex it gets the more i wih it would allow me to just type it out in any script language
they want to get the masses to use it too...
***** i know but in that atempt they are making it more complicated it would be great if psi would have an expert mode where it simply turned from this way into a script interpreter
+zokr That's the challenge.
Part of the complexity is in fitting the spell within your available area. That and the flow control would be impossible to replicate in textual form.
Yes! Do another video!
my God... psi is going to make new do trig in my games...
why does he say si or sci p s i as it is spelt??
p is silent like in psychology
Or like in Psionics.
its the greek letter psi
1.9.4 still needs a LOT of new mods before I play it.
I just found a curse modpack called "All The Mods" which is a 1.10.2 modpack with 110 mods, including Psi.
Conjure block was there before
So was light
And armor
At least in server play S8 it was there
Not since his last spotlight.
nvm didn't know you had a video on it
Wow, this makes Minecraft like FPSes, but more subtly.
I was like"how come this vid only has 3k views? So I clicked and looked at date
So when do I get to use Material Burst?
The moment you figure out exactly which size an explosion can be so it doesn't break blocks, how many of those you need to kill the thing you want, and how you're going to get that many explosions in a single casting.
ALTERNATIVELY: The moment you get yourself a Creative CAD and make a spell that puts entities 9001 blocks up.
He uses the conj light in forgecradft
Part 5 please
pls tell me this is based off the anime i think it is because if it isn't i believe he is lieing
Mahouka aka Irregular at Magic High School ? Yeah it is
Yes, literally the first line on Vazkii's Psi site is "Psi is a magical tech spell programming mod inspired by Mahouka. "

Watch the older spotlight that covered everything else in the mod. This is just an "update" or an "addon" to the rest of the spotlight videos on it. They can all be found on direwolf20's channel.
You should probably go back and watch his previous spotlight.
1. He says "you should remember this" a lot because not only did he already do a spotlight on this, but PSI was available before version 1.0.
2. The colored arrows are just visual. They corespond to the requirements of a spell and where that requirement is coming from.
+SuperShesh2
Vazkii talks about those arrows on her website. She made it so that you can tell where is linking to what just by looking at a SS using the color of the arrows.
+LunArt Eclipse No. Vazkii identifies as female.
late to the party and kind of clueless as far as modding goes, but does anyone know what mod gives you that minimap? Did he do a video on that?
JourneyMap by techbrew. you can find it on curse
am I the only one that noticed the duruability on the armor it is 205/200 and it re
paired itself
The durability was 285/288
Terminator the PSI tools auto-regen
psi is the best greek letter.
where can i find the patterns or what do yo call them, i'm just lazy to make those in psi, programming isn't my thing, plus i always mess things up
Jess Kay thanks a lot, i''m making my modpack, it's like forgecraft2, but it has some funky and funny mods
Yeah, this mod is definitely too complicated for me.

+BananaDog64 No problem. Good luck! Don't be afraid to walk away for a bit if you become frustrated.
I could just see a spell that encases an attacker in a bedrock box 20 minutes later... "Now where did Soaryn get to?" LOL
Well, if you could somehow collect bedrock with out Divine RPG...
You could modify the stone castle spell to be around the attacker, therefore trapping them until you shut it off.
or just something that would just kill like a lucky block style trap
132ikl I don't know any of the player made spells, not a fan of reddit. does it involve warded blocks from thaumcraft or similar?
+TheDawgMiner I was talking about the "Stone Castle" spell Dire used in the video. You could potentially modify that to create it around another entity instead of yourself.
Still completely unbalanced with an infinitely and rapidly regenerating pretty much free resource, that allows you to do virtually anything, I see.

True but it will probably get better
Oh my gosh you can do all tracers abilities in this mod lol #OVERWATCH IN MINECRAFT
Sure
how is he using NEI with mc 1.9.4??!/!?!?!?!
its called jei its the new version of nei
Trig is fun
No one noticed this mod is based off an anime? The irregular at magic high school?
Also Pneumatic Craft's hacking system is based off deus ex machina
Joseph Lieber I realised that while playing with friends they had no idea what I was on about xD
The anime is pretty under the radar. The only reason I know of it is because it is/was on Netflix at one point.
Yay!
Ye ha YOIEYAAA AAAAYAYAAAAAASSSSS YASSSSSS AMAXINE WOOOOO IM LIKE WHAT AM I SAYING NA. DONT MIND ME PLZ
Psi seems pretty unbalanced to me from watching the videos on it. Not saying it isn't interesting, but I think it makes things to easy. Especially if you have some coding know how

or we could leave feedback so the mod creator can work more on balancing the mod..
Vazkii is good at balancing her mods, but if you try to balance any mod with all other mods you would drive yourself crazy.
YAAAAYY
Mahouka koukou no rettousei, anime that this mod is based on.
Why am I commenting
I hate 1.9 update sigh =.=
SWORDSPAMMER ALERT
I hate 1.9 psi. FTFY
SWORDSPAMMER ALERT EVERBODY RUN HES GONNE CRY ABOUT HOW BAD 1.9 IS EVERBODY RUN RUN RUN FOR YOUR POOR EARS
Well luckily for you Minecraft is currently 1.10
Chrono_Knight OMG LMAO XD

9x9 BOMB. lol

Too bad this mod is unbalanced =(
dire i love your vids but this mod sucks
Nope
subjective
Not really. How does it suck? It's not overpowered and it's awesome.
Based on that mentality you're probably a 6 year old who lacks the cognitive ability to understand Psi.
Kyle Liu Most grownups wouldn't be able to do anything good with it, but the lacks cognitive ability part seems about right.
