used AtlasOS for 5 months now and I didn't experience any incompatibility at all
it's been great to be on an unbloated windows so far!
does roblox work on it?
@@lalalops833yes, you can play Roblox on it
@@lalalops833yeah we need an tuned OS for roblox....really?! Best latencys for roblox...?!
@@lalalops833Yes if you have secure boot and TPM 2.0 enabled.
I love the concept; making OS better by removing and disabling stuff from it. That's comedy of Windows writing itself.
It’s about gaining more performance, lowering input latency, and getting rid of all of the software that is constantly using your hardware (telemetry). Gaining fps. Doing these extreme windows builds makes for a very snappy and unlaggy experience. Especially on old hardware.
I'm wondering what a Chris Titus Tech gaming optimized Windows would be like! Love what you do Chris! Thank you for your knowledge and good energy!
Good Video👍
I have a General question: When using Linux Mint and deactivating the network connection but without unplugging the Ethernet cable, the Connection activates itself after some time.
Is this normal and if it is are there any fixes around without needing to unplug the Ethernet cable?
In the video, you can see someone in the live chat recommend against dual booting Atlas with Linux because Atlas makes changes to the bootloader. Can anybody else comment on this and share their experiences please?
the biggest problem with a closed source base or the creator could go bad or get hacked/social engineered & have it do bad things with all the access it has by removing all the safeties it removes
Any news from Alex, thorium dev?
I have not heard anything. We will have to wait and see what happens with the project.
I've had issues getting the printer to work properly. It definitely felt snappier than plain-old Windows 10 Home, but I've since used the IoT Enterprise LTSC version and I don't know why I would ever use Atlas or Windows 10 Home again.
atlas os disables the printer service by default there's a py script in the atlas folder on the desktop to re-enable it.
because the Atlas OS or tiny 11 is actually obtainable. For some reason, all the places you would get the latest LTSC release have been taken down. That being said, a slightly older version is available and is currently updated to the latest build number. I'm pretty sure. But that's weird because I was told that with LTSC you have to install the new versions to get those kinds of updates, they don't come OTA style with LTSC.
What is LTSC? @@MrGamelover23
What is IoT Enterprise LTSC?
@@WVWVW1 Its like the windows you see on terminals when you're out like at the ordering screens at fast food and bank atms
Atlas is very nice but I prefer a stock LTSC IoT 2021.
If anyone follows the atlas os documentation for installing I’ve run across a problem with the oobe\bypassnro which doesn’t let me activate my win key skipping that step will fix that issue
Cannot recall the exact error it gave, but tried Atlas not long ago on an iMac with a Windows partition through OCLP and it almost broke it. Wasn't able to use my computer almost so had to do a complete reinstall so was very faffy. People tout how good it is but be careful with it.
Are any of these Windows versions suitable for daily-driver desktop/laptop use?
look at his NTLite guide... my job requires compatibility
yes I've been using AtlasOS for daily use now (school, work, gaming) and everything is working like on default windows
Looking forword to your new Atlas os with thw Windows 11 version. Hope you do that soon.
Chris can you check win 10 iot ltsc 2021 version and give us feedback
I use AME myself i dont need Microsoft Store or anything like that.
I like the project and ive used revios and atlas os both with Zero issues.
Performace wise the 1% lows can be better and that word "can"
The thing that stands out the most is storage usage. Yes its nice to have more storage available for games and such.
I know alot of people go on and on about "what custom os gives me the most fps"
My answer is IDK every hardware config is different and at the end of the day it's best to just debloat the os yourself and see how that fairs. Or if your feeling like windows isnt for you then switch to linux.
Or use a Mac but idk if anyone wants to use an OS that is a fisher price pc
I run Atlas on my and sons PC with Playnite with shell reg start. So it doesent even start an Desktop Environment. PC is now like a console. Overclocking and settings i do in Desktopmode than playnite per regedit. Its has only 55 processes and about 800-900 threads active. So perfect experience. No stutters, fast and simple.
I have bad experiences using it. Sure it was noticably lighter than stock Windows. But the problems I had just too annoying to ignore. One of the worst is network discovery and file sharing via LAN. It has tutorial how to enable it but it straight up didn't work at all.
Just sounds like windows
I haven’t had any issues with Altas. Been running it for a few months now. Used the the win utility tool after install and it’s been a very smooth experience
23h2?
Yes sir!
Have you been monitoring the traffic to make sure there is nothing fishy going on?
@@thestreamreader nothing jumps out at me but im pretty green. No questionable processes or anything. I cut all security back on. And all recommended updates with the winutility tweaks.
What is the reason to use this over a well managed full windows 11 install?
Lot of people in the comments talk about having "zero issues" as if I'm going to trust the judgement of people using something like AtlasOS to tell me what is and isn't an issue.
you have did atlas in the past can you do revios this time please
Hi Chris, Do you use your own Windows Utility on your current system?
Yes. The whole purpose of it was to speed up my own systems.
@@TitusTechTalk That's very lovely to hear. Do I need to use it after a fresh install or can I use it after the update and driver installations?
Chris has incorporated the microwin within his A-M-A-Z-I-N-G toolset of gizmos in which you can take your windows iso and pre-clean it before installing.
Correct me if am wrong@@kzrhridoy2953 @TitusTechTalk
Sooo, TitusOS then? ......
Where the Trustworthy @?
amazing this gets recommended to me on youtube just as im fighting with AtlasOS and Easy anticheat blocking me from playing games. given this is an OS aimed at gaming its a bit of a damp squib.
If EAC is not working, then is there a point of choosing this over linux for gaming? I am not being rhetorical btw, I am genuinely asking.
@@thepi absolutely not
@@thepi there are some single player games that stutter if u have a spector/meltdown affected CPU like M$ flightsim. Atlaos solves that.
EAC works absolutely fine for me. hmm.
@@jmiller007 gold star, doesnt stop it not working for others...
Microsoft could have all these projects dead if only they stripped out all bloat and released some "Windows Starter Edition" for Consumers
Windows 10 LTSC ;-)
Still could be further bedloated tho.
They could and should kill these projects within minutes with Defender. It’s insane to normalize people using Windows without having a full featured, updated, and fully supported Defender service. Windows is not Linux, it needs Defender to really even be considered safe. I can’t imagine there is much performance gain at all from this, and even if there was, it’s totally not worth the hassle and potential security risk (or having your machine be bricked and in a state Microsoft with no longer update… very common). Microsoft, or this software could break windows update and then you are screwed once a game you want to play requires that update…
@@Zinojnmaybe let people do what they want with their computers
Been using AtlasOS for around 4 months. Only noticeable difference from stock is restart and boot up is significantly faster. Beyond that there is no improvement at all.
I like the idea behind the project but since ins't fully open source, no way I'm using it as main OS.
Neither is Windows, GNU Linux only?
@@aeonbliss-lol As main OS, yes, I only use Linux (Debian 12). But I use Windows for gaming; some games still don't work with Linux.
@@YannMetalhead nice, as an Arch user I must let you know that in fact I use Arch.
Proton got me covered for almost all of my games except for Valo and Genshin.
@@aeonbliss-lol 🤣 You're truly an Arch user.
His Windows Utility is a game changer for Windows users and possibly IT pros that have to install stuff. I use it all the time (even though I use Linux for the most part)
it's kind of hypocritical of chris to not trust ameliorated because it's a closed-source project but then go on to trust and parade NTLite, which is also closed-source.
It’s wild to me the amount of people in these comments saying they have used this crazy-zo project. This is Windows, there are reasons a lot of the components are there. Defender needs these features. The idea that someone would use some rando version of windows just save save a few MB of memory is insane to me. Use Linux if you don’t like windows. Christ
Not gonna lie, at this point, I'd reccommend most people just use Linux. More games work than not nowadays unless it's anticheat, and if you play AC games, just dual boot. Distros like Garuda, PopOS, and others make this a very simple process nowadays.
What does AC stand for?
Anyone willing to go to the trouble of doing this may as well use Linux. You never know what even a simple Windows tweak is going to break down the line.
This is no effort man
This is exactly my thought as well… windows update even WITHOUT any tweaks can brick a system when it starts failing to update. What are the users plans when months down the road their games don’t work because their windows stopped updating important dependencies…
The whole idea of this project is stupid. Windows “bloated” is not even bad these days. Just uninstall some appx packages you don’t want, turn off settings and startup services you don’t want but good Christ there is no reason to start tweaking system services such as defender, windows update, store. The time spent to install this weird project you could just do a few hours of work and then upgrade your ram with that $… if you are so worried about having an extra 100mb of ram free…
I prefer microwin + winutil
sorry, are you using MicroWin? are there any problems?
I understand that some people are just afraid of change, but I really dont see the point of this over using something like pop os, linux mint, ubuntu, fedora. Basically any main stream linux distro will be better than anything which is remotely related to windows
I don't believe in the philosophy behind such projects. It's like trying to do something bad-by-design - good. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way.
It's much better and logical to just use something, that is better by design. Something, like Linux or BSD.
Bruh, are you that brain dead? 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Some people just don't want to bother with Linux. They want their good ol' Windows but with less bloat.
As someone said (i really can't remember): Users don't use Windows. They're using applications and playing games that run on Windows.
And it's hard to blame them. It (mostly) just works.
And if the only thing that you do with your PC is playing games and browsing websites - you might not want to get into the trouble of learning completely different system possibly with some dirver and software problems.
They are gamers. Linux and gaming just isn't there yet.
I appreciate your comments, but I'm not attacking anybody for his / her choices about OS or software, or anything like that.
And any arguments on the table - don't change my mind, as stated in my comment above.
