It absolutely works. The problem is that people who haven’t used it expect it to sound as their own physical version does. Yeah, I remembered whilst editing. I've never tried a Duesenberg. It didn't say to play one string at a time. I just followed the instructions to the letter. If that is the case, they'll have to put that in an update.
For the first part, you should be playing separate notes as it says. I don't think you should be letting strings ring out or playing chords. For the second part where you're barring, you should let the strings ring out or it'll fail.
The first part only records one note. It measures the output of the pickup, so it doesn't make a difference. I just double checked this morning. I tried a few different way and the best sound I got was my original preset.
Yes, it’s supposed to make your guitar sound like a specific different guitar. So you could try to make your Eli phone les Paul sound like a fender Stratocaster. I think the better way to use it though is to try and make a squier strat sound like a fender custom shop. Not as big a jump but perhaps more pleasing results. 👍🏻
But... surely "separate notes" means "let the last note die out before you play another one"? Otherwise, by the time you're playing the high E string, the sound that the software is listening to to "model" the high E string is the sound of six strings ringing together?
I do not know about you, but I hear some quite strange sounds in the background, it is probably the armed preset, the same thing happens with the default preset of the Amplitube 4, the sound has a kind of interference, like a bubbling in the signal, which clearly shouldn't be there

I've tried it before and it doesn't sound right. However, using the rack eq and the preamps and other effects worked really well for processing the microphone signal I post. Do have a go through, I might not have got the best out of it. :D
Thanks for your feedback. I did try DI and it did not sound right to me. Too much buzz to the sound. When using an acoustic mic I sometimes got to do with floor noise. Anyway, I did watch a Positive Grid( Bias FX Acoustic Sound) video yesterday as well where Sam Whiting demos the Acoustic Guitar sounds and wow... a must see video what Bias FX can do to your sound. So I noticed what effects they used on the signal: Acoustic Eq, Acoustic pre-amp, Acoustic sim, Acoustic chorus, Acoustic reverb and Acoustic Imaging. So I tried it and vuala...beautiful clean acoustic sound with no floor noise. You should try it and then perhaps do a video on it if you'd like. I am sure you will get it right. Regards.
I wondered that too, so I did it again yesterday. But it actually ended up sounding worse than my original guitar match. I agree there's a shrillness to some of the sounds, I'll explain that in the next video. Basically though, the Gordon Smith sounds quite dark on the neck pickup, so I had the amp with the bass dialled down and the trebly dialed up. So when I did the guitar match, the single coil results are quite a bit brighter and more shrill than the humbucker results. Playing notes individually actually didn't work when recording the guitar, they want them to ring into eachother. It makes sense really, they can't process the strings individually, you can only do that with midi pickups.
I have a Steinberg UR242 interface and Edirol Monitors. Almost zero latency, I have the buffer set to 64 samples. 124 samples works with little enough latency too.
Hiya! Yes, you can use the input on an audio interface, like the Scarlett. That's was exactly how is connected the guitar. And yes, studio monitors or headphones are great for monitoring. Be aware that what sounds good in headphones might not sound good through speakers though. :)
Reguitar really does what guitar match is supposed to be doing. For $100, everyone can have this capability without straining to hear the emulations.✌🏾
Thanks! Was googling if it had comparable software. Guitar match isn't bad, but what I want is just to have the model, and use another amp sim with it, like Neural stuff, or Guitar rig 6. How it comes out even after tweaking is a kind of bit weak sounding. I got it to an ok level, but it sounds weaker than it should. But the concept of Guitar match is amazing! It did help shape the tones I was making into how I wanted them to sound. For both my Guitar, and Keytar, which is super cool!
The psychoacoustic effect of seeing you playing that guitar but hearing the other guitar models makes it tough for me to be objective!! All in all, they sound decent, although the Telecaster model does have quite a harsh top end.
Yeah, I didn't change the amp seeing for each preset. My guitars pickups are quite dark, so I had the treble up on the amp. We need to adjust the amp for each guitar model. I didn't do that. :S :D
Have to be honest, none of the Guitar Match profiles really sound good... your stock pickups sound great! nice and clear, but when the profiles are loaded the tones start to sound overly compressed, they lose high end and they don't have a natural "break up" too them. Some don't also particularly sound anything like the real thing such as the 335 for example
To be fair, I didn't change amp settings to compensate for the change in guitar tone, so it doesn't really show them at their best. I think there are ways to get a good sound. It just requires a bit better planning and tweaking than I did. But I agree, not great sounds out of the box!
@Shockheadd45 as great fun as experimenting with tones is, for producers/ home studios with limited guitars/ gear (which this is marketed towards), getting results quick and settling on tones from the start is important for tracking. This has the opposite effect requiring you to spend hours dialing in tones that ultimately don't even sound like the "real thing"
thanks for the review, this looks like a lot of fun. I mean, if softwares have come such a long way that they can simulate amps and mics, why not guitars. Of course they are not meant to sound like the real deal otherwise who would buy the real deal anymore? #cough#purists. But I know for a fact that 50% of rock bands are using software to direct record their albums, even names you wouldn't expect.
To be fair, there are so many variables. Including what monitors I mixed on Vs what people are listening to it on. The best bet it to download the trial (if they do that?) and see how you get in with your own setup. :) But I agree, I doesn't sound great. :S
Who would like to see "Guitar Match with a Squier Strat"? Maybe that would be a good use of the software.

Regards.
That's awesome! Glad you got something nice sounding. Perhaps I will give it a try! :D
How do you get sound?
I'd love to help you, but if you're getting no sound at all you'd best get in touch with Positive Grid. :)
@@jtguitartv I managed to get it to work. Thanks anyway!
@@bechet12 Awesome! Enjoy! :D
@@bechet12 Can you please tell me how?
"Separate notes" are not the same as "arpeggio" which you did first. Try a scale. Monophonic!
He wasn't arpeggiating though. He let the notes ring together.
Positive Grid definitely need to make the I instructions clearer. So that there can be no misinterpretation.
@@jtguitartv true
@@woundedmonk1884 that is still an arpeggio :)
Which audio interface are you using? Any latency problem? and last but not for that less important --> Which Monitors are you using?
I have a Steinberg UR242 interface and Edirol Monitors.
Almost zero latency, I have the buffer set to 64 samples. 124 samples works with little enough latency too.
@@jtguitartv thanks a Lot for tour answer. Keep the Goodwork
You're welcome. ;)
hi, a question? How did you connect the guitar?
Is direct plug in through a Scarlett 2i2 and studio monitors as output be effective?
Hiya! Yes, you can use the input on an audio interface, like the Scarlett. That's was exactly how is connected the guitar. And yes, studio monitors or headphones are great for monitoring. Be aware that what sounds good in headphones might not sound good through speakers though. :)
can you still use guitar match in standalone?
Yes you can. Just remember to adjust your audio driver's buffer time to reduce latency. You'll find this in your audio driver's control panel. :)
yes I got it at 128 samples, Thanks bro @@jtguitartv
Awesome! Enjoy and let me know if you have any video suggestions for Bias FX 2. I might do a 1 Vs 2 video. :)
Excelente.
Ironically I have a tele and I like emulating the les Paul style guitar
Nice!
Bias fx or amplitube?
I haven't tried the new version of amplitude. So I can't say I'm afraid. I'll see if I can do a comparison between the two.
I think Bias FX is more user friendly than Amplitube 4 imo, Bias FX overdrive sounds less digital to me as well
The psychoacoustic effect of seeing you playing that guitar but hearing the other guitar models makes it tough for me to be objective!!
@@jtguitartv no worries! I am sure that if you had tweaked the amp, others would have said that you shouldn't have... You can please everyone! :)
That's for sure! ;)
Robert Simpson You can eq within guitar match as well.
Is that pro version? Or elite?
It's the Elite version. £££ :(
@@jtguitartv Thanks.
You're very welcome!
Hey, what tune are you playing in this video?
It's one of my own. It's called "Let's Get Married" and will be on an EP early next year.
Yeah, i can imagine. I've started doing gigs with a laptop rig because it so easy to use and sounds great! Thanks for the kind words! JT
This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.
tretas
Profiling failed.
wow! Tele sounds so shity!
gtrjh that’s just how teles sound.
@@Eddian18 nope
I dont know why but suprisingly very harsh sounding
To be fair, there are so many variables. Including what monitors I mixed on Vs what people are listening to it on.
The best bet it to download the trial (if they do that?) and see how you get in with your own setup. :)
But I agree, I doesn't sound great. :S
What are you using for monitors oh my god dude they sound terrible
A pair of Edirol MA-15 studio monitors. I've recently upgraded to Adam Audio A7x.
Mine is a bit noisy >.< so Annoying.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the feature.
Sad
Couldn't watch after he failed to damp the strings... Separate notes means one note at a time... Monophonic!
Not leaving them all ringing.
Duh!
not even close
Unsurprisingly sounds really bad. Like an acoustic sim
My strat sounds pretty good when modelled into humbuckers... and it actually does sound like humbuckers. I think it's pretty cool.
my humbucker sounds glassy using tele bridge match.
U look like the guitarist of snarky puppy..
I’ll take that! Better than Guitarry Potter! 😅
Very bureaucratic video
Two much trouble , not worth it !!!
Those steps suck !!!
