Thanks for stunning tie and for making a special effort during your recuperation. Lovely combo of three different shades/hackle types in an innovative yet also trad style fly. All strength to you and your family!
I'm sorry you got the gombu. It is not fun or easy for most. I will pray for you and your family. This fly is a wonderful compliment for Spring and early Summer. Your patterns are always the "cats meow". I love them. To be saved and shared.
Great looking wet fly mate. Hope you and your family are doing well. Am sorry to hear you all have the virus. Thank you for taking the time doing this video. It’s always great to see videos done by the Master. Best Regards from West Virginia, Ken
Great looking wet (maybe damp?) fly. I think it will work well around here in our smaller lakes and slow runs in creeks. Here is the Pacific NW USA. I keep you and your family in my thoughts, I hope you are all on the mend w/o any of the more unpleasant side effects. Again thanks for the video, I look forward to them as they come out.
Thanks Davie, just what we need to se now. A new pattern, tied by a master. I hope I can learn my, to tie in the wings so easy, as you are doing? It have been nice if you will show us, too tie a Jassid? It is a very good pattern, for Graylings. Thank you for all the tips and tricks. 🙏😊😊😊🥰🙏
Hi Davie, sitting here watching your great videos but thinking of other things like this pandemic and how we hope that everyone we know gets through this terrible time so just to let you know that we’re all thinking of you and your family 🙏✊🎣
Great patterns! Hope you are doing well, I know the symptoms can show up sometime in the two weeks after you catch this thing, so keep your spirits up! We're rooting for you!
Very life-like one, will try.... I have always wondered, any particular reason for not tying the lower hackle in by the butt, and palmer it forward, rather than fixing it by the front and palmer it rearwards, and rely on the rib to keep it in place, I mean, inevitably, the rib will give, and the hackle loosen....???
Morning Bjarke Strøm, The rib I used is metal and has lots of grip and strength though you could easily tye it other ways as you describe and which I have done as well.. I would say though I prefer to wind the hackle down and then using the rib to secure it as I have found it to last far longer..Great question and thank you for asking.. All the very best Davie
Hello, another very nice model that does not seem difficult to tye. On the other hand, the qualifier of wet fly leaves me doubtful because it could be also used in dry fly, fly which would evolve in the film. Perhaps with a slightly finer iron hook. In any case, thank you for this pattern that can be declined in a lot of colors. Have a nice week end All the best. Yves Sultan
Fantastic tying Davie. I loved that one. I've seen snatchers before but I've never tied or fished them. They seem easy enough to tie up so I'll give them a go. I noticed you said they are fished near the surface so I imagine they will be used in conjunction with a floating line and retrieved slowly is that correct or are they sunk beneath the surface and retrieved fast?
Hi Clark, The more methods you have when fishing any fly the better and doing this you will find the best retrieve,. Fishing a soft hackle fly like this through a good wave works a treat though it would be worth tying some just with cock hackles or even one of each which will lift the fly and keep it higher in the water..It's a great style Clark so I would certainly recommend tying a few and I'm sure you will not go wrong...I'm glad you like it.. All the very best Davie
Hi Chris, I use a Sony AX100E camcorder to film the flies which is great and this is only half the quality I could film...I'm glad you liked it.. All the very best Davie
I’m from New York and watched your videos last year - just saw this new one, but I’m having trouble understanding you - did your accent get thicker or is it me ?
Hi Rob, My original lapel mic stopped working and I had to use a spare one which I had to mess about with which changed the sound quality...I have a new one so hopefully once I get a chance I'll be filming some new videos, unfortunately I caught the covid virus so hopefully I'll be doing one very soon.. All the very best Davie
Enjoyed that, Davie... thank you. I don't fish lochs (lakes). Some might have skipped this one on that basis. I always figure I might learn something, no matter if I'd ever tie the fly. I did... =] Also, your sound in this video was echoing... more in the very beginning but throughout. New mic? Different positioning? Mike
Morning Mike, This would be a great river fly as well especially when the spring olives and march browns are coming off..Yes it's a new mic and there's a bit of an echo but I'm trying to work out what I am doing differently as it's the exactly the same mic I have used for years and set up so I'm not sure what they have done to it or what I am doing wrong.. Hopefully I should get it sorted for the next one.. I'm glad you liked the fly though.. All the very best Davie...
@@DavieMcPhail It is easy to like the fly. For me, flies cause tying and fishing dreaming. On top of that, I learned something... =] That's odd about the same mic, set up the same way, sounding differently. What I like about the old one is it makes me feel as if I am sitting across the tying desk from you. Mike
Morning Mike, I know I want it to sound the same as before as it was perfect in my view too. I've also ordered a new cable so hopefully I should get it this week sometime but I'm still suffering from this virus so it may be a little longer before I get a chance to try it out.. All the very best Davie..
Superb looking fly Davie. Very nicely tied as always and well explained. Many thanks for sharing.
Very Nice Davie. I love all the colors and the different hackles you used to tie this pattern.
Thankyou for sharing this video with us.

Hi Davie, Is this pattern fished static like buzzers or striped like wets, thanks
Hi John,
You could fish it either way as the hackles are soft enough to move even static...ATB Davie..
