    watched this tutorial again and thought I would comment on the clarity of the visual ...the dark needles with highly contrasting yarn make it so easy to see every detail especially with the white background ...I do appreciate all knitters posting tutorials but often with jewelry , dangling stitch markers and bright nail varnish it is very difficult to see the actual knitting process ...thanks for keeping it clean and simple :-) ...t.

    Thank you for the pattern and tutorial. I was just looking for a pattern for some mill end yarn my son gave me that just won't work in a lace pattern and this is perfect. I appreciate your explanations of what you're doing and pointing out so well what the pattern should look like. I'm looking forward to Part 2.

    Cool; thank you! Now, I only wish I had my knitting needles already; they probably won't get to me until the new year... However, I'd better be patient as I still have quite a few crochet wips to finish and have been asked to do several more...😉

    Good day, Thank you for the clear explanations... Just to mention that the shawl that you have in background on the manequin looks (if we just glance) as an animal print pattern... which is very nice!

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  3 года назад

      That is an interesting observation. I think it probably looks like an animal print because it is in two colors of undyed yarn: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/la-dame-blanche I'm glad you like it!

    Hi Barb, I am going to make this shawl for a gift. I am a little nervous about judging the skein less than half way. I do not have a scale and do not want to buy a second skein if I can help it. Thank you for the pattern and your time making the videos.

    when you do the KFKB stitch you can avoid a step, when you put your hook in back to make a knit stitch , just slip the stitch onto the rt. needle, so simple. I just learned to do that.

      There are so many different ways to accomplish many things in knitting and I'm a big champion of people doing what works for them. I have tried that technique but it didn't work for me.

    I've always made myself in by knitting the last Stitch and slipping the first Stitch. (I don't know why Stitch is capitalized.) Anyway, is that any different? If so, why?

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  7 лет назад +1

      paulagrnsy It’s simply a matter of preference, both techniques create a nice edge. This just happens to be my preference. I’d recommend doing a little straight swatch & knit a few inches one way & then the other. You can look at the results & see which way you prefer!

      Most of my patterns have both written and charted, but it depends on the design. I try to do whatever is best suited to the design itself.

    Hi, I really like this tutorial, is this a baktus shawl? I wonder, by the way, what's the difference between a baktus and all the rest :-) anyone knows?

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  6 лет назад

      I had to go and look it up on Ravelry, yes the Baktus pattern uses this same construction. There are many different patterns made with this same construction, I just chose to use a very simple texture to make an easy-to-knit shawl. If you go to Ravelry and do a pattern search while selecting shawl, triangle, and sideways for construction you will find a bunch!

    I bought your pattern on Ravelry. Paid $2. PayPal has paid. Ravelry says they have no record of my purchase. I cannot get a response from them at all. Can you help with this? I have a confirmation from PayPal, but not sure how to send it to you. I cannot send it to Ravelry, because they do not answer my request s to look in to this matter. Please help! Meredith Spaeth

      Hello, I was able to find the email that you were sent by Ravelry and attempted to contact you using the email that was on that message. It was returned as undeliverable, so I believe the problem is with the email address you used. For me to assist further I will need a functional email address … but do NOT post it openly in reply here on RUclips. You can use the pattern support link on my website tumpedduck.com

    Hey Barb..love it! Wld u, cld u, amend this as a rectangle? Pretty please🤍. This is a funny oddity ab my Grndma Clara..she wld not allow triangle anything around her grndkids. I am being truthful. She also wld never allow herself photographed,n she wld nevr EVER wld speak in her native tongue.
    Second request, (cowering) do u know, every time I make a mess of my knitting, it IS bc of the basic coverage tht is ALWAYS NOT THERE. The thgs I wonder ab, we are many!! Knowing u, if u did it, u wld be the first. Christmas card lists abound w ur name and OF COURSE the good goodies that will find themselves to ur door. PLLLLLEEESSSSE. Ill come help!!. Signed, I Never Knew The Love.

    • @wiwoods4me
      @wiwoods4me 2 года назад

      Okay Wht I mean is the thgs like turning ur work, extra stitch for edging on just one side bc the other end alwys ends w a knit or slip. And I am addicted to the old Russian or grandma knitting style. And then theres setting up a little repeat pattern in dbl sided knitting but switching colors, and why cant I wrap my head around reversible patterns? See I need a mentor n I take it at the end of the day after ripping hair out the last thg u need is questions.

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  2 года назад

      @@wiwoods4me OK, that's a lot of stuff. I haven't done double sided knitting so I cannot help there. And you really can't simply modify this pattern to make it into a rectangle. But I do have a video on how to change shawls from one shape to another here: ruclips.net/video/Fp1U0qazl_U/видео.html
      And honestly, the rectangle is the easiest shawl shape to make. Simply cast on enough stitches to get the width you want and then knit it until it is the length you want. It's basically just a super wide scarf. That said, I also have videos on how to make crescent shaped shawls, which are not triangles!
      I encourage you to explore my tutorials list because that might have some of the things you are looking for: ruclips.net/p/PLEqIFerB_Bf8vLagr-U9IQQawtirDf7On
