I ran into a slight problem when setting it up. I got everything to work yesterday, but today I found that they were using some of my free credits for block storage (about 2 cents right now, but I'm more concerned of what will happen when those free credits expire in a month). I was a bit confused because their website says that 100GB of block storage should be always-free. I did a ton of browsing and found out that my 47GB boot volume for the instance wasn't an "always free" boot volume, so that's why they were using up some of my credits (at least I think that's what the charge was from). You can check if your boot volumes are always free by expanding the menu in the top left and click on Storage -> Block Volumes -> Boot Volumes. You should see a list of your boot volumes, and if it's always free it should have a gray-ish rectangle that says "always free" right underneath the name. Mine isn't always free, however, and I've been trying to figure out how to change it to an always free one to no avail. Have any of you guys figured this out?
Have u been able to find out the solution to this problem? I am also suffering from this problem. Also, Hp_crafter if u can look into this that would be amazing.
@@BLAZESWINGER I'm nearing the end of my free credits trial (it ends on the 17th), so I'll comment again with what happens when I hit that date. From what I could tell, I think there isn't any way to get the Arm-based instances to show an "always-free" label while you still have those free credits. Any Arm-based instances will shut down by the end of the 30 day period anyways (see docs.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/Content/FreeTier/freetier.htm ). You'll have to delete and remake the instance again once the trial ends. I think it will have that always-free label once you remake it, but I'll update you once I get to that point. Also see the comments from this reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/oraclecloud/comments/og0dsb/being_charged_for_free_block_volumes/. That's the maximum free tier usage per month. So you can (for example), theoretically run four servers with 2 OCPUs and 12GB RAM each free. bruh i really wanted to do this and i couldnt even get past signing up, i signed up and everything payed the temp $1 and it said it should take 15 minutes to get my account working and i should get an email, its been over an hour with no email and when i go to log in it says "That name didn't work, want to try again?" i tried putting the name i put when signing up and my email and the default name it showed before i changed it when signing up and still same thing, when i go to sign up again using the same email it says " This email address is already assigned to an Oracle Cloud Account
Click here, and we'll send you an email with the account details" and i click there and i get an email saying "There are no Oracle Cloud accounts associated with the e-mail address {my email}" so like bruh they have my home adress and my card information, i just hope they dont automatically charge every month, it was the free tier so it shouldnt right?
you dont need to pay... what did you go on?!
all the comments are good so ima test it out my self hopefully 24/7. how much slots?
Max out core and ram on free tier? Any charge?
Thank you so much!
my private key stopped working, what now? can i restore my files at least?
the screen code doesnt work
Ok, I may be missing something huge here, but could you tell me how to run a 1.17.1 forge server from this? There isn't a server.jar to run.
nvm, just do screen sh run.sh
@@natn8r124 can you tell me how did you make it work?
Getting stuck on adding the java repository
Look at my comment
Hi! I just created a server using this tutorial, but i want it to be a network using bungeecord. I have no idea how to do it on a SSH server tho... Can u explain/make a video please?🥺
Just run the jar file using java. And edit the config files of bungee. (You need to have bungee jar file with wget)
@@DeathGOD7 im an ssh newbie as well as bungeecord... Can u please explain with more details and steps? Tysm
what should I do if I do not receive an email to confirm the password reset
?
Should mention that you can only set the specs so high before you have to pay eventually. If you set your cpu to 2 and ram to 18 you should be good
The limit is 4cpu and 24gb of RAM before you start getting charged. Like I mentioned in the video.
@@hp_crafter4609 oh my bad then
Hey my server closes if I close putty app, please help...
i keep getting command not found and errors.
Is the server staying up even if you close your pc?
Yes. Just make sure you use screen before the command.
literal lifesaver.
Hi, I need support with this, I got locked out of my server as it says server sent public key. How do I fix this?
@Bballman4321 Same issue here, doesn't work it says "Server refused our key"
this man is a genius
can you do this with mods?
11:49 You selelcte a 16GB MEMORY but you use -xmx1g and -xms1g so computer use only 1gb so you cant use all memory
Does anyone know how to install mods into this server?
How do i make it crossplay? It doesn't work
dude they verified my credit card but now they say "The verification couldnt be proccesed" :/
LMAO THEY TOOK YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO AND SOLD IT
@@turoturolamama that's definitely the case
Your bank might have flagged it as attempted fraud due to it being a small transaction. You could try to get in contact with your bank to get it fixed and then try again or try to get in contact with oracle and see if they can help you resolve it.
same goes to me, and then I apply on different browser (edge) on the next day and it's working
nvm, turns out the sign up page doesn't support browser other than google chrome, safari and mozilla
I was using brave
why ampere and not amd or intel?
Hello, great tutorial, very clear thanks ! Just a question, sorry it's probably just me being paranoid but how can this service be free of charge ? Oracle just provides vm's for free ?
I was a bit concerned at first as well. I've had it for over a month now and i can assure you that its all fine though.
@@hp_crafter4609 Thanks ! It's all working great. Just a question : when reconnecting with putty to the vm, is there any way to resume the console of the server ? Because screen -r does not work after you have closed and reconnected to putty. If not I think I will just setup Rcon dor the server
@@rowanmannheim3006 I've found that I am able to reconnect to the screen after restarting putty. Not sure why you can't. Only thing I can think of is to make sure you are the same user as you were when you started the screen.
@@hp_crafter4609 Oh that is weird.. I am definitely using the same user, what directory are you in when executing screen -r ?
@@rowanmannheim3006 it shouldn't matter. Try being in the directory you started the server in though. See what happens.
Thanks
any idea if this would work for 1.18 now in Dec 2021 ?
It does. Check out my website for information about installing java 17 as is required but other than that it's the same.
@@hp_crafter4609 hey thank you for your answer! it worked perfecly. now I'm having an issue... I run the chmod 777 command and I think I messed up because now my private key won't work. the instance is up and running but I can't access it with putty or filezilla, any solution? it'd be much appreciated it
Can't you just install pterodactyl?
How use FTP to install mod on oracle vm
Why does mine allow me like 48 gb ram and 8ocpus?
That's the maximum free tier usage per month. So you can (for example), theoretically run four servers with 2 OCPUs and 12GB RAM each free. However, if you overutilize them by performing too much traffic or utilizing more disk space you may find a charge appearing - that's why most people run well below the limit to ensure it stays free.
@@m0rthaus Mine allows me 16 OCPUs and up 96 GB, will it be free of charge if I run 2 Vms with 4 OCPUs and 24 GB each ? therefore staying at half the maximum free tier usage per month ?
1.19 needs Java 17 now!
why no commands are working like /stop and others, i can only see /help and a few more
op yourself in the console and then you can do all the commands in game
says Unable to locate package oracle-java16-installer
use this code "sudo apt update" this will update the software it should work after this
Btw, i noticed that your ip is shown on the video at 14:02. I hope its a vpn, but be more careful 😉
I did but thanks for the notice.
how can i stop the server
can i run a fivem server on oracle?
Why not?
still working??
I can't connect to the server ? What do i do ?
I can't help you if I don't know what you did wrong. Make sure that you correctly did all the port forwarding steps. Try starting it without screen if you did. If that doesn't fix it then ask for help again, except this time include things like what the error was that you got when trying to join.
@@hp_crafter4609 I figured it out
it tried to charge me
How do you add mods?
the website is down
Can we access the server through Android devices?
if u install a server wrapper u can
Why use nano, vi and cat are so much better.
