    Pulling the string and getting one. If it's Phillip's pick, that's a yes for me. Trading my SE Mira and SE Custom 24 in on it. These new S2's are a huge step up from prior S2's. Parts and finishes are a huge step up

    I've got an SE Custom 24-08 and I think it's great, but I can't get all the sounds that you do out of it! Seriously, I'm not a gigging pro and like most guitar-playin-guys, anytime I spend $1000 on one thing it's a big deal. The fact that I can get a really close approximation of a true Custom or even an S2 for under a grand is a tribute to PRS for meeting the needs of the many. The factory in Indonesia produces some amazing instruments for the price. And thanks again for showing off what can be done with all those switch combinations!

    It looks just stunning. I also like he TCI-Pickups, probably for the same reason I like Mini Humbuckers so much. And let's be honest, PRS is one of the few mass producing brands you can be 99.9% sure you get an instrument with great QC.

    I love that approach to the switches. I like my Les Paul, but honestly I don't love the multiple volume and tone controls, I like the one control for that and the switches to single out the coils. That thing sounds amazing in all modes, plus it's beautiful. I do like the darker blue of the Core model, but that doesn't make it worth twice as much to me. Great guitar.

    being an auto painter, i don't think you could spray acrylic eurethane as a ground coat, at least if we are calling laquer the same thing, laquer clear was always reduced with laquer thinner, and i know from experience in doing so that it WILL lift or re-animate acrylic eurethane clear coat,this has always been a blurred topic as to what guitar companies and auto body call laquer clear,,,, and then there's the civillian who tends to call any clear coat "laquer", i do know that the solvents used with acrylic laquer are way stronger than eurethane reducers,, one would disolve the other,,,i'm pretty sure what most guitar companies are using for clear is closer to something like bar top finish or fiberglass resin, at least that's what it smells like when you sand it

    I believe the end goal is to get as many people buying the overseas products as they can as it seems to be very profitable. I also believe there is no incentive for them add new or changes features as long as they are people are buying that line of products at the level they determine is acceptable. When sales shrink due to competition or economics then they are motivated towards change in features and or prices to stimulate sales. Should they integrate more core feature sets into the other lines or modify the designs based on consumers requests? I would have to say that "it depends." It depends on their goals, strategy and business plans for the future. Some companies don't even want to be promoted on social media. It is also important to remember that the thing with most "successful" people is they tend not to listen to you unless they deem that you are more successful then they are. This is rooted in the believe that why should they follow the advice of someone who is not as smart as they are? They tend to believe that they are smarter than you because otherwise you would be more successful than they are. Of course this is measured in whatever metric they deem to be successful. That being said personally I would like to see the integration of the better tech across all the lower lines along without raising the prices. LOL. Oh ya and the good old fashioned idea of just lowering the prices would NOT hurt my feelings either. I am like a lot of people and looking for a bargain on great gear. Thanks to the whole "Phillip McKnight Team" for all you do to provide honest, accurate and meaningful information about guitars and related gear. I sincerely wish y'all the best.

    The s2 2023 (10th anniversary) and all new 2024 that are $2250+ have all core electronics. That means the $500 85/15 humbuckers and pots and switches. Other than the tremolo system and wood and finishes you have a core sounding guitar for half price now. Not cheap, but well worth the new price tag

    Tasty! A potential updrade from my SE 24-08, which I like a lot (apart from the Cherry Burst and the faulty wiring from Indonesia!) I wish PRS would do this one in plain black . . . the Black Amber is 'OK' but in general I just find the PRS 'flamed colours' an eyesore. Not life or death but why not? (I'm not one of the guitarists who goes running around in my white suit yelling 'da flame, da flame'). Re: your comment about whether PRS might upgrade the SE's with similar appointments. I doubt it, somehow. With the recent 'sell off' and now the new SE 'open grain' with coil split at around USD 500 (which looks very interesting!) my guess is that they are going to focus on lower end 'competitive' pricing for the SE's , putting the S2 in the equivalent of the 'standard Gibson or Fender' range and the Core leaning more towards the 'Custom Shop' level and pricing. Just a hunch!

    to answer the se question, at first my reaction was a no since that'd entail yet another price hike, but you know what, if I want a basic se, I could still get the standard 24 or the ce, so it's be cool if they made a all out se version of this for half the price of the s2

  • @BrentAdams
    @BrentAdams 10 месяцев назад

    Personally, I would be happy with an SE. While I appreciate the upgrades...they really aren't important to ME. I own 1 Core original McCarty made in 1997. This guitar now resides at my son's house, and I own 4 SE models that I play regularly. They are tools to add different tones, or "sounds" to my Musical Tool Box for my Music. The SE's perform and sound GREAT for my needs. Nice playing be the way!

    Hi! I'm Paolo from Italy... I think Tci magnets are superlative (custom 24-08 and Paul's guitar), but also the 58/15LT (Hollowbodie and Mccarty) and of course the louminous Santana magnets. But I have a freudian conflict with tremolo (I hate it) but I love having 24 frets... so I have a question: Why all Prs models whithout tremolo got only 22 frets... and all Prs models with 24 frets got the tremolo?

    I would love to see them release a 408 in the S2 line. I don't like CU24s at all, or 24s in general. Unfortunately PRS always seems to release cool 24s but not 22s.
    For my use the bridge humbucker and narrow field in the neck is perfect. I guess I'd prefer a normal sized humbucker as opposed to Widerange type they use in the 408.

    Never understood why they dont do more variety of neck patterns mixed into their models. Like why is it so difficult to find a single cut or a 594 with a pattern thin?

    • @daniellowry660
      @daniellowry660 10 месяцев назад

      The PRS tremonti kind of covers that territory. I think the way PRS breaks up their lineup they seem to like to have 2 of each variation one modern leaning and one vintage leaning. So if you want a traditional double cut PRS you can have a custom 24 or a McCarty 594. If you want a singlecut there's the tremonti or the McCarty SC. Hollowbody II vs 594 Hollow. Fiore vs Silver sky etc.

    Not sure on all these soft bags I just feel better when the guitar is in its case. Plus (showing my age) could go to music shops asking for any cool stickers or gigs you would play at and cover your case with some great things over the years, you’d see who where the guitar crowd checking out peoples hard cases. Sounds ridiculous but true and stickers where cooler lol. I miss my black Case and goodies with a USA Standard. I’m just upping my USA Standard with a soft mint scratch gaurd and a set of the one run 63 custom shop joe Bonamassa crocodile rock strat, he plays every show. Seymour Duncan’s custom shop really went out. Name of person that hand wound your set and numbered and each signed by joe. Un potted yet I did test some new potentials against some older CTS 250k all CTS 243-246, other popular name 223-229.5.. CTS used and it had how joes was wired and what cap. So did as had and ordered the .05.mfd fender capacitor. Other than spot on when measured, Strat had since 2013 sunburst yet maple naturally rolled edges. Ash which like my 62 Ri 12 last of the great fender 62 unless ordered custom shop. Maybe it’s in the head yet 62 with CS 62’s sounds different to the 63 and I do believe it’s nicer tone , also put and cut new bone nut. Made from Australian beef. Veteran pensioner australian army like to buy Australian not as cheap, yet I buy USA as love the couple of non us or australian guitars and think it’s down to picking the right one at hopefully a good time. Funny as 3 guitars made Indonesia one China yet all USA made and assembled pickups Seymour’s or Gibson USA paf Burst buckers lol.. stay strong all, cheers Matt🫡🪖🇦🇺

    Isn't it rather 1" vs 1/2" maple cap?

    I would love to see the SE get the Nitro finish, this is one thing we don't see in this range. Because I love aged guitar

    How do you find a dead note, or what does a dead note sound like?
