Pritzker Prize awarded to architect David Chipperfield

The Pritzker Architecture Prize has been awarded to British architect and urban planner David Alan Chipperfield. Chipperfield is behind more than 100 projects ranging from cultural, civic and academic buildings to urban planning and residences. (March 7)

Why did it take so long to recognize his work? I do disagree with the choice of some earlier winners.
For example, Mr. Aravena from Chile. His winning project doesn’t even compares to the challenges Mr. Chipperfield faces in every of his designs.
Better late than never! Congratulations Mr. Chipperfield !
