It's time to say goodbye. Adam has to face the reality that I'll no longer be a part of his landscape photography adventures.
While he frantically tries to locate the stolen books and redeem his disgrace, I take you for some mossy forest photography to visit the world's longest tree branch.
It doesn't take long to find some 'Magnifiqua' compositions while I wait for glorious light. I talk you through my thought process while enjoying some beautiful woodland photography.
Once again, my Sony A7RIV locks up and fails at a crucial moment but Eric is there to save me with a Nikon loaner. Will I finally be lured to the dark side by the Nikon Z9 or are they all as bad as each other?
The lads have a whip-round to buy me a going away gift for my camera bag but I'm deeply offended. Brian gets his revenge and delivers a painful home truth that my delicate ears can barely handle.
It's a bitter-sweet day as I prepare to move on to less green pastures but will I leave things on a sour note?

The pink jacket shot was amazing. That should be on the wall. Like wandering in a fairy tale. Great way to say goodbye, but hopefully you and the gang will have many many more encounters in the future. Looking forward to Hardcastle and Gibbs, although it sounds like the title for a cop show or a law firm. And even more incongruous - you bought a church? The most irreverent gent I know bought a church. This should be really interesting. Thanks as always for the smiles and laughs - and the superb images.
Why?? Itˋs Color Science. Pink and light green are so called Complementary Colors. That‘s why the image works so amazingly. Besides the composing skills of Mr „Heartcastle“ of course. 😁😆😂
I love the photo of Amanda in the pink jacket. She really brings scale to the shot, which makes it look even more majestic! Looking forward to your future adventures. A friend of mine renovated a church into a home - it was quite the project. Looking forward to seeing that, as well. I do think Grumpy misses you. He has had a far-away, forlorn look in his eyes in his videos lately. 😉

I have to agree with the others, the shot of Amanda is fantastic. Having a figure in the image gives scale and somehow emphasises the chaos of a forest scene, but at the same time brings sense to it (that seems so pretentious but it's what I felt). Hope everything goes well in Nova Scotia and that you and Adam re-establish your partnership soon.

The amount of work you put in to these videos is incredible. The photography is professional and fantastic, the videos tell a story in a humorous way yet manage to support the photography core content, and the out-takes make the viewer feel like they are getting the inside scoop. Great stuff -- thank you again. And the photo with Amanda in it is breathtaking.

You would look good standing behind one of the most powerful cameras ever made, the incredible Nikon Z9. Plus, Nikon colors are the best.

Aside from coming away with some excellent insights on photography, composition, etc;, as well as how well your wife integrates with all things surrounding this beautiful escapade..., I can never figure out why my clothes smell like they've been around a campfire after viewing your latest show. Loved it all! Thanks for the emotional roller coaster! I hope you both love your new home. As a child, my Dad got stationed in Newfoundland, twice. Spent 4 years at Goose Air Force base. I was bet. 6 & 10 years old. What an amazing experience for a family of Floridians out of our element. The scenery , forest & grasslands were amazing. We would visit valley people & go for skidoo rides with the kids being pulled on a long tobbogan. Seeing the Aurora borealisis, blizzards & getting snowed in.Watch out for bears!🐻 I look forward to more of your adventures with Amanda & Adam.

The forests on the east coast are very different from what you have on Vancouver island or the west coast in general. What you will have come fall is autumn colors that you will never see over here. I love that you are renovating an old church. My family did that when I was a kid down in Virginia. Should be a rewarding project. The beaches of Nova Scotia are spectacular though. That’s where you’ll find your miss fix.

You will love the color and the dynamic range of those nikon files. The Z7ii can take 15 minute long exposure in camera with no trigger. Id say try one, and wait to see if Nikon is going to announce a z7iii anytime soon if you really like what it has to offer. I am still rockin the 1st z7 and its amazing.
As a Z 7ii (Z 7 before that, and over 40 years of Nikon F and D before that) I have to say, stop talking Z 7iii. Nikon still owe us better firmware. Nikon have improved the Mk i series' firmware to the point >some< feel Mk i 3.4 is better at a few things than Mk ii 1.4. It's simple. Nikon, IMO, have not been able so far to reorganize their firmware in a way that two separate processors to the fullest benefit us from these 2. The Z 9 works around that software engineering problem with two processors in one chip - but has dual I/O paths like two separate processors have. My take is that Nikon has (had to) made (make) priority choices in the development of the Z 9 and its firmware and placed Mk ii firmware development on the back-burner. I migrated from Mk i to Mk ii at firmware level 3 and have to admit, if 3.4 had been available at the time, I might have stayed with Mk i. To me the Z 7(ii) as a package is ideal in size and weight. Don't want D850 or D5 size cameras 99% of the time. If we look at Nikon's D camera development, it's likely for them to come up with a Z 8 with the Expeed from the Z 9 - more MP, less speed, slightly smaller. Maybe with the EN-EL15 battery. Well, MP are an "area" number and human perception of sharpness (detail resolution) follows "linear" lines. A camera with a sensor of 6,000*4,000 has 24 million photosites (these are not "pixels"!) and to get 2 times the detail resolution we need to apply 2x linear resulting in 12,000*8,000 or 96MP. This explains why we can be disappointed in the image "quality" improvement of what we think is a lot more MP and it explains our surprise about how good a 12 MP image from 10 years ago actually is. And, let's face it, it may be cheaper to significantly improve Mk ii firmware than to develop a new camera and in such improvement, they would significantly improve their competitive position and brand value.
@@jpdj2715 I have a 1st gen z7, some of those functions in the z7ii I will never be able to have. And why I am waiting to see what the next z7 has to offer, plus id get better deal on a z7ii if its not mind blowing; and if I can save $600 or more on a z7ii then hell yeah lol. The only firmware update I can not understand why they do not give us back is 3d tracking. Xspeed6 in a D850-D5-D6 has it, but for some reason they are trying to say it can't be done done in the z6/7 1st gen or second gen which is rockin 2 is BS, we want our 3D tracking back.

That pano looked as if she had just walked into a wardrobe and that, just off screen, was an overgrown streetlight. A pure fantasy vibed shot.
Watching that through and I thought, how many takes did you need for that table conversation. I thought there would have to be a few! Hahahaha. And there was. As for the images - love that one with Amanda in it. Her presence with a sense of being in the space and nature, taking in that tree branch . . . . Yeah wow.

When you get a chance get south to New Hampshire during the fall and take the Kancumangus scenic highway 122. It’s a great drive and there’s mount Washington and Glen- Ellis falls to take in.
Like many others I think the pano shot of Amanda in her pink jacket works wonderfully. Looking forward to seeing your adventures on the east coast and hope that your move works our well for you both.
Just when I sadly thought the Gavin & Adam shenanigans would now be rare occurrences, you announce the upcoming “Hardcastle & Gibbs” series. It will be one more reason to look forward to the Christmas season. If Amanda is homesick for the west coast, she can console herself with the lack of grizzlies in the Maritimes. She’ll only have to contend with black bears (the polar bear found 2 days ago in Quebec’s Gaspé Peninsula being a freak occurrence). After working daily with coworkers from Campbellton to St John, Edmundston to Halifax for nearly 20 years and spending many summer vacations on the east coast, I can assure the both of you will appreciate the warmth and sense of humour of the people you will meet. Best of luck with your renovation project and new photoshoot hunting grounds.

As good as your content is (both education as well as entertaining) I'm surprised you don't have a million subscribers! Keep up the good work and you'll be there in no time. I'm completely interested in this Nova Scotia thing you're teasing, as well as the Gibbs & Hardcastle gig (you know I couldn't resist!!)
I know you made humour (successfully) from the end-of-an-era parting but it is sad for us, the viewers (I’d guess; for many) as well as it must be for you. There’s no other similar blog that does this or anything like so well . Comedy gold!
Z9 is just too much a camera for most people. Plus now you need to wait for wopping 12 plus months to get one. If you're really going into that system, I suggest you start with a Z7 and try to get hold of their Z mount zoom lenses first. This helped me to save money for a lot of recent E mount lens releases. They're just that good. The new 14-24, 70-200, 100-400. If you really ended up liking the system, a Z7 body can be a nice second body.

Amazing shots! I second Mark, that Pano was "bussin" as my kids say. It could mean something entirely different than what I think it means. I don't think 40-year-old men are supposed to use that word. But HEY congrats on the big move!

Loved all of the pics in this vid. Gavin and Grumpy are part of the elite, landscape photography wise and it shows in the careful way they recce and compose individual shots. Awesome stuff!
I’m pretty good at wildlife and portrait photography, because its about predicting movement half the time, but I’d butcher these landscapes with bad decisions.
This was an awesome video, I loved every minute. I laughed and smiled so much at the end that my face hurts😂. Thanks for another great video.
