Kuliang Town is located north of the Gushan Mountains in the suburbs of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. "Kuliang Friends" are all American families and their descendants who once lived in Kuliang Town, some families have lived in China for generations. Elyn Maclnnis, the founder of Kuliang Friends, said, "The story of Kuliang is a story of friendship, peace and love."

Very touching story. Friendship between people to people is very important relationships.
As being a Western in China in those days was special, as Chinese did not value their own culture and worshipped the West. China was so poor after opium wars paying war indemnities to 8 invaded countries plus other countries factors. Is that why China is so adamant about its territory and rightfully so.

Guling is the name as it is written and spoken in Mandarin. Kuliang is the written version of the local Fuzhou dialect. Before the late 1950s, people in Fuzhou spoke Fuzhou dialect, not Mandarin.
they all not getting younger? Where are their children and grandchildren?
These people, who were born in China and grew up in China and lived in China for decades - do they have Chinese citizenship? Or they are still foreigners and still require to renew their visas every so often?
