The Blue Ox # BLU52XR Gooseneck adapter doesn't offer any dampening to reduce chucking, but the funnel WILL fit the king pin very tightly which helps reduce chucking. Because the adapter also attaches to the gooseneck ball, that will be a tight fit as well. However, the Curt # C32DR is a similar product that does feature dampening to help reduce chucking. The hitching process for the Curt product will be much more simple than the Blue Ox, so unless the 1000 lb lower capacity (20K vs 21K) would make a difference, we would recommend the Curt gooseneck adapter. Hope that helps. Let us know if you need anything else... www.etrailer.com/Gooseneck-and-Fifth-Wheel-Adapters/CURT/C32DR.html
do you need safety chains for this one
You don't. Safety chains aren't required to fifth wheel tow.

Is it a good option for a standard size bed 6 ft 5 in bed?
How is it for chucking while towing?
