    Once on a trip to Cozumel with my wife we got off the ship then just asked a taxi driver to take us around the island. He drove us completely around the island, we stopped at a couple of nice beaches on the opposite side from the port, he brought us to his village and told us all about the history of the island. We saw some wonderful things ate some great food, some some local sights and had a great time for about two hours, all for (as I recall) about $40.

    I enjoyed Cozumel, I was there August 2016. Did not have a shore excursion planned, but found local excursion area that hooked us up with a taxi ride to Playa San Francisco. Taxi was only about $10 and the beach fee was $40, but got $20 back in food and drink voucher. Great Time!!

    We just did the Amazing Cozumel Race last Thursday...it was fantastic. Great guides, we felt like we were in the actual TV show lol. It took about 4 hours, saw a lot of the town that I don't think tourists would normally see. Finished at a great restaurant on the ocean. Snorkeled over a sunken ship, free drinks at the end, won the silver medal great fun :)

    Going to Cozumel on a cruise in April fir the first time. Im searching for some fin & safe activities. I would love to go snorkeling but I’m terrified of sharks so the Atlantic submarine sounds good. Carmen playa water park sounds great. I’m so glad that I came across this video.You have some great tips! Thx so much for sharing!

      I've been to Cozumel six times and have never seen a shark (have snorkeled every time, and also scuba dived on one trip). Also, the sharks that are near Cozumel are mostly nurse sharks and reef sharks, which are harmless unless you actively try to agitate them (I've had reef sharks 6 inches away from me in the Bahamas). And sharks used to scare me a lot until I learned more about them. Cozumel has some of the best snorkeling in the world, don't let misplaced fear stop you (you are actually statistically more likely to be killed by a falling coconut). I'd suggest a snorkel boat tour that goes to Columbia Reef, Palancar Reef and El Cielo. The 2 reefs are beautiful and have many fish, and El Cielo is shallow with a sand bottom and tons of starfish - really beautiful. Have fun!

    We did the Mexican Cooking Class twice! We loved it both times. You get to meet and cook with other cruisers at your table/stove top and you can enjoy all the beverages that you care to drink as it's included in the pricing and you get to meet and interact with your chef and his helpers. Ours both times was Luis the Chef/Host. He was very engaging and funny! And lastly you get to eat your wonderful creation and then lounge at the beach after with a still open bar. Great day of fun and food!

      It was the Mexican Cantina Cooking Class. Port: Cozumel, Mexico. This is the description posted on the NCL website:
      Take a short ride to Playa Mia Grand Beach and Water Park to participate in a unique hands-on cooking class, soak in the sun at Cozumel’s finest beach park, play at the water park and of course, enjoy a freshly prepared meal- made by you! At Playa Mia, you’ll meet a prestigious chef who will guide you through the process of preparing an exquisite three-course Mexican meal. Have fun at a fully equipped dynamic workstation and get your hands dirty as you learn the secrets to cooking and presenting this internationally acclaimed cuisine. Once you're finished cooking, relax in an oceanfront dining room and enjoy the dishes you’ve prepared accompanied by Mexican wine, good company and a terrific view. After your meal, you’ll have free time to swim in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, sunbathe on the white-sand beach or explore the new water park including Buccaneer’s Bay kid’s area, Oasis Island Pool and the 200-foot long Twin Twister Waterslides.

I only ask this because when we click on your videos we have to endure the ad video that plays. Then we see you introducing the topic and afterwards have to sit through the introduction/promotional video. My friends who snorkel quite often say The Money Bar Beach Club is a great place. They also say the food there is above what you would find at other places. I haven't been there myself but I do trust these people. As far as other places to eat Pepe's is always great but pricey. another option would be Pancho's Backyard good food for a lot less.

    • @rob_9876
      @rob_9876 5 лет назад

      Money Bar is a nice place with good food and decent shore snorkeling. Also Buccanos on the shore north of town is nice -- they charge an admission fee and then give a credit toward food, so it turns out to be a good deal if you were planning to have lunch anyhow. Prices are fairly reasonable for many items. The lobster mac & cheese is a little expensive, but worth it.

    • @rob_9876
      @rob_9876 5 лет назад

      The San Gervasio Ruins are definitely worth exploring. While not as big as Coba or Chichen Itza, it is still a nice town of Mayan ruins, some fairly big. You can go on your own (taxi or rental car) and take a self-tour or hire a tour guide right on site. A good idea to take mosquito repellant, sunscreen and water. I'd suggest avoiding the El Cedral ruins, which is actually just one building the size of a 2-car garage surrounded by a bunch of gift shops at prices generally higher than in town and a tequila tasting (their tequila is expensive, and not made on the island anyhow, so save your time for other fun on the island).

      I have not traveled in quite a while with a toddler but the action tours like the dune buggies would be out. I would still take in the animal life though as kids seem to be amazed when they see them and then you could just tour around the port area with some very interesting shopping or grab a boat or bus tour as well as they do not move very fast and you won't need a car seat.

    I did a line off a girl's ass in Cozumel. I'm sure that ain't on the list but it's what I'd recommend.

    You need to be a fully certified diver , if there is a dive shop willing to take you without proper certification, they are not reputable

      There are many reputable Dive Operations that offer Discover Scuba dives where non-certified divers can learn the basics and dive under the close supervision of a dive instructor to limited depths -- but still deep enough to see lots of colorful fish.

    Don, …Cozumel is not a town. It’s not a city. It’s an island. The city is San Miguel.
    Pronounce sawn- meeg-WHALE. On the island of ‘coe-sue-MAIL’. (Not cause-zoo-mell, Nor cause-you-mell)
    You provide some great tips on travel there. Also help people with the names!
    And by the way, the ferry is out of ply-awe-dale-CAR-main. Say it slowly at first. NOT play-a-dell-car-men

      The nurse sharks and reef sharks around Cozumel want nothing to do with humans, and will swim away from you if you are lucky enough to see one.
