Black Flag is the one AC I actually played, mostly for the pirate theme and like the pirate theme much more that the AC normal parts. Whether on sea or in space, the theme has always a lot of opportunity for exploration and adventure with a ship and crew you have to take care of. A winning proposition IMHO if done right and Black flag did a lot of right. Still remember the shanties and orienting the ship against waves in bad weather and lot of other details.
I played the original on a Nintendo emulator when I was little-little, played even more of the 2004 one when I was a teenager, and here I am pushing 30 and there hasn't been a single pirate game that's come close to being as good. Skull & Bones was supposed to be the one, it was supposed to be Assassin's Creed Black Flag- but with character-creation, multiple ships to use, and RPG elements. The perfect Sid Meier's Pirates successor. I've given up hope and moved on to obsessing over space-sims instead. Lol
Love this game. Only change I make is to change the Dutch to Scotland and the mod that adds in the items use. ( So for instance ,you cant trade with the natives till you have a tottem. that kinda thing)
Yes! Seeing Pirates! again brings back memories! I loved this game and always wanted expansion of the quests and more things to do because I played it to death. It is still a good game and I would load it up again if I thought it would play on a modern operating system (and the offered new things to do).
In some respects the original Sid Meier's Pirates is better than the 2, which is the one you are referring to, and obviously in this case we are talking not about 20 years, but 37. But Black Flag and both Sid Meier's pirates are single player games. And therefore they can't be compared to Sea of Thieves (it's more of an avatar game) or Skull & Bones (this is a ship game), because the latter have to take into consideration balances between players, depending on their skill configurations and ships, which single players should never take into account. The game that, being an MMO, could be most comparable to these last titles would be Pirates of the Burning Sea, which is possibly the most balanced game between being a game with Avatar and a game of ships, and one of those that perhaps best takes a certain part of the essence of Sid Meier's Pirates.
Sea Dogs is also one rather good old pirate game. Sure its a bit clunky and has some bugs and issues but still its one of the best caribbean open world "sand box" game. You can be a pirate, merchant or privateer. Do escort missions for merchants, buy goods and sell them with profit or just pirate and steal everything and gather a fleet and raid ports.
I just ASSUMED that this video was about Monkey Island. No hate here, but it IS the most pirate game ever, anyone who says differently is a floor salesman 😂
Sid Meier's Pirates is the first video game I played with my dad. So many good memories.
Same for me, I played it with my dad on the Wii, he was the pirate and I was the parrot during the sword duels.
I have every PC version of this, it's one of the earliest open sandbox games, the original was made way back in 1987.
Thank you for saying bye.

If anybody ever played the pirates of the Caribbean mmo and was sad it was shutdown there also TLOPO which makes the game still active today.
I've been doing a playthrough of Pirates at least once a year for 20 years now...
I just love the. This is a remake a regenesis game that has almost the same level of sandbox qualities
