They should have put this back in for the DVD release. It let's you in on more of the relationship with her parents. "Nerve collapse,"..how dramatic!!!
At 1:55, Dawn's father tells her not to come down from her room until it's time to open her Christmas presents. I wonder if Santa will bring her a pair of black cha-cha heels...
It's great fun, but it is much better that this scene was not included in final print. So much more rewarding to see the parents for the first time on Christmas Day and to have Dawn's cha cha heels deprivation rampage be more of a surprise.
one of my favorite scenes is dawn in the bathroom smoking with confetta and chicklet...raggin on everyone. that's one of the funniest things i've ever seen
Its taken from a bonus disk included with a John Waters DVD boxset called "Crudely Yours..." It's the only deleted scene included on the disc. I wish there was more. Keep your eyes peeled though, theres some interviews and documentary stuff i want to put on soon.
This scene was probably deleted because it was actually a serious one. Well, not that serious, but not twistedly hilarious like all the other scenes in the movie. Dawn is also too nice and timid here, quite unlike the rest of the movie.
You can see how Divine took a lot from Shirley Stoller in "Honeymoon Killers." Divine was better at it, though. It's like the way Bette Midler borrowed some of Betty Hutton's stuff and ran with the ball. Anyway, isn't "Female Trouble" wonderful?
I don't have these sorry. I did once see "Mondo Trasho" and "Diane Linkletter Story" on bootleg dvd on ebay. Be careful ordering bootlegs though as I've been stung in the past. Make sure to ask the seller plenty of questions. Good luck!
One error in the script. Dawn had been in an all girls' class, so how could she have been expelled from the public school system? She was obviously enrolled in a Catholic school.
Poor Dawn, just a misunderstood Baltimore beauty!

Interestingly enough, a few years later, Divine was playing the mother in a similar scene in "Polyester."

Nerve Collapse - I love it.
We know that Dawn is ALWAYS innocent LOL
This is fun seeing a deleted scene! THANKS!
Why didn't John Waters allow this in the movie??? It's FANTASTIC!

Awesome, thank you so much. Divine was such a great actor. I wish he was still alive. So funny.
Thanks for posting - I just finished watching the commentary for Female Trouble & John mentions how this scene was cut...!
SO COOL! Im a huge John Waters fan and I've never seen this. Thanks!
Poor Dawn, she just wanted to rat her hair, the parents could have easily got diet pills for her in the 60s

Hell, I thought it was funny. But I can see why it was cut. It would have taken away the outrageous temper tantrum on Xmas day.
Ah, yes, the infamous bonus disc that I can't get without buying the whole box! Thanks again!
Wow! Thanks! Female Trouble is my absolute favorite John Waters film. Where did this come from?
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Maybe it was Home Economics and no boy ever enrolls in that class...
sure you can on netflix, i think.
Oh, the heartaches that girl put her poor parents through. But she will pay for her sins and her lies, with a lifetime of heartaches of her own!
