I want a pair of them so much! Some day! Look how tiny the hatchlings are, I can't even get over their cute little faces. They're absolutely precious. How long does it take them to mature? I love watching hatchlings grow up, I've really gotten a kick out of it with my crested gecko, he stayed tiny for what seemed like ever and now it's like he's bigger every day lol. Looking forward to him being a big ol' handful of geck jumping SPLAT onto my palm. As these agamas become more popular I'm hoping it will be easier to find young captive bred ones such as the ones in your vid here. I can't tell you how many times I said "bearded dragons would be the absolute perfect lizard if they were just a little smaller!" and then someone told me about these and I have been head over heels ever since.

I love my agama, Pumpkin! She’s got such a personality and she’s a big part of the family. Definitely an underrated reptile to have

Very interest in these lizards. I hear there poop does not smell as bad as Bearded dragons.
You breed very unique lizards. Great videos.

Thank you! It is true- bearded dragons have very large, moist, smelly poop. Painted dragons have poop that is much smaller, much more dry, and much less smelly.

Don't use anything less than a 5w laser though or it won't work.

Small insects and leafy greens. Insects about 1/4" like young crickets and lobster roaches and mealworms.

Thank you. You can pretty much pretend they are bearded dragons as far as breeding them.

Could the adults eat the babies

    • @livingwithlizards3104

I wouldn't recommend having the parents in there with the babies. It is asking for trouble. I have removed the babies to raise separately.

@@livingwithlizards3104 your enclosure seem so well made. So I'm working red headed agamas and had two females lay eggs like in march and left them i their big outdoor enclosure in the soil. But they never hatched so 2 weeks ago I digged out the eggs and saw they were shriveled and dry im guessing the moisture was to low, do you mist their enclosure? Or add humidity so the eggs will hatch

@@alexcontreras6103 Thanks! I really like the design I came up with. I don't mist the enclosure, but in Virginia we get a fair amount of rain. Enough to keep the soil humid at the depth of the nests. The soil is also deep as you can see. The volume helps retain moisture, but it is also a raised bed system so the drainage is good and it never gets soggy. There are multiple things at work here in the terrarium- the soil depth available for the nest, the volume, the amount of rain we get here (it's been fairly dry here this summer though) and the raised south facing mound which helps keep the soil warm and adds that volume for some moisture retention, and a variety of nesting conditions with different temperatures and moisture content for the females to choose from when choosing where they lay. If your soil is really dry, you might try offering them a nestbox of some kind and remove the eggs for incubation in an incubator.
