End of the interview: Carpenter: answer Arod: question Carpenter: answer Arod: okay now so got two more questions Carpenter: answer Arod: ok just two more now Carpenter: Arod: now last two fun ones to end it I love arod
I don't watch baseball, dont play it ,don't really understand it too well besides the Batting and Pitching mechanics I actually play basketball thats my livelihood I am obsessed with it everyday and Boxing + Gridiron Football are my other loves.but something tells me theres something in this interview that I can learn from and maybe add to my life or mental state from these two great professionals.........
Cardinals fan here: your Cubs ain't faring too poorly. By the way, belated congratulations on your World Series title. A lot of us were secretly rooting for you if the Cards didn't win. My brother's favorite player was Ernie Banks.
KEEP ALEX RODRIGUEZ! I hate that his career wound down the way it did: he made mistakes. But keep this guy around, Baseball! He brings magic to his analysis and interviews. I'm a lifelong Cardinals fan. When you grow up on Gibson and Brock and Schoendienst, Cepeda, and Shannon and Simmons - you're hooked. But you're really hooked on Baseball. I never thought I'd live to see a Cardinal challenge for a homerun title: St. Louis teams weren't built that way. Then we got Mark McGwire succeeded by Albert Pujols. I always say, "It ain't about home runs!" But it's sure nice to get a masher from time to time. This was my lead up to Rodriguez coming clean - in his time. Unless I already missed it. I came to terms with McGwire's steroid use long ago. It was wrong but I understand why. Steroids help you recover from workouts and injuries faster. McGwire knew injuries. I'm not justifying his steroid use: he should pay a price for it. But likely there are scores of players who used during that "Era" who will never come to light. Maybe they ought to conduct an investigation to identify who didn't yield to temptation. I don't know the injury history of Alex Rodriguez, but his name heads my list of those who were so gifted, so otherworldly, that they didn't have to enhance what God gave them. A shortstop who hits 50 home runs? OK, enough. Some day, he'll tell us what he was thinking. I wouldn't deny him the Hall of Fame after a suitable cooling period - say ten years. He wasn't banned for life. But keep this guy in broadcasting! It's not just his looks, his eloquence, or his reputation. He's got "IT" and Baseball can sure use him. The rest will be sorted out.
In Arods case you can say steroids helped him get $500 million in salary between the Rangers and Yankees. Who would use steroids for $500. But for anyone who thinks his career was all steroids, remember he was one of the best players ever to come straight out of high school.
i hate the cardinals but i think it is pretty cool that Matt Carpenter spent all that time losing weight, eating healthy, and being dedicated to his game
How come no one eats salsa after a great defensive play? Do you get to eat salsa after a walk? If the opponent makes an error and you reach base - do you get to eat salsa? I believe you should get salsa...if Matt sees this -please confirm for me.
I know some people say they don’t mind baseball players taking steroids, but it’s nice to see athletes actually look naturally fit. Compare Carpenter to the guys from early 2000’s and 90’s where the players had this blocky look and barely could fit in their pants.
Very much so. They were contoured more to the actual shape of the human leg and made to be slim and athletic. Today Players seem to like the relaxed feel a little bit better and wear them super baggy with an open bottom.
sinchman1 I’m white my guy. He shouldn’t be employed because he is a cheater. But hey that doesn’t matter right? He’s only the richest player in history he has a family to feed. Stay in your lane next time.
Jonathon Smith bro just because he used steroids doesn’t mean he wasn’t a great player. If he wants this job it means that he loves baseball and wants to stay in baseball. Why are you complaining. He’s actually pretty good at his job
Jonathon Smith...A-Rod never used Steroids his entire career...Like I wrote what he did in 2015 made all of you idiots look like assholes especially people like you who are not employed fucking loser... Keep up the great work A-ROD
A-Rod is freaking good at this, I like that, unlike other reporters, he knows what he is talking about and thinks like a player.
agree
who else is always on the lookout for an alex rodriguez special interview?
Elias Ayala I literally just found this...he does the best interviews and Matt is one of my favorite players.

Like it smells any different the third time, let alone the 4th time with the lid on lol
Everyone is talking ab a rod smelling the salsa multiple times. But did anyone see him smell it after he put the lid back on? 😂

Wasnt a-rod with fox?
ESPN hired him to commentate on Sunday Night Baseball this season
Ricardo Urena he still is. he just also does Sunday Night Baseball broadcasts on ESPN
A Rod is great!
Go Redbirds
I know some people say they don’t mind baseball players taking steroids, but it’s nice to see athletes actually look naturally fit. Compare Carpenter to the guys from early 2000’s and 90’s where the players had this blocky look and barely could fit in their pants.
The pants looked good ngl and they had nothing to do with steroids
Jbill Rivera did they have a different model pants back then? I just know the players were juiced during that era.
Very much so. They were contoured more to the actual shape of the human leg and made to be slim and athletic. Today Players seem to like the relaxed feel a little bit better and wear them super baggy with an open bottom.
5 sniffs.
Javi Baez PLS!!!
Anybody know what watch A-Rod is wearing?
can you believe they are both listed at 6'3.. im 6'2 and just from lookin id say alex is definately closer to 6'3 than matt is..
I actually think Alex is closer to 6'4". Carpenter is probably 6'2" and some change.
Looks like JLo has Arod in playing shape.
Matt looks like he is AARP eligible

Arod is such a poser Lol
I love watching Matt Carpenter At bar but I have no respect for Alex steroids user 😂
Carpenter is the last one I would talk to about hitting. He has been terrible
You do realize they recorded this in 2018 when he was destroying the baseball, right?
This was recorded in 2018+he's been revived
Holy cow....ESPN...let me fill you in....EVERYONE hates ARod...I can't believe you employ him. So out of touch.
@@Norcat10 Jenny from the block doesn't count. I am talking non Yankee (BASEBALL) fans.
We dont wanna hear or see A Rod
I do.
A rod is a liar and a cheater, dislike
Collin Q dislike
The Corndog Hero same the thing I don't like most about a rod is when he called mine when running the bases
Why does Alex Rodriguez have a job?
Because he's intelligent not like you black folks who don't want to work
sinchman1 I’m white my guy. He shouldn’t be employed because he is a cheater. But hey that doesn’t matter right? He’s only the richest player in history he has a family to feed. Stay in your lane next time.
sinchman1 Lol, just another race baiting black person
Jonathon Smith bro just because he used steroids doesn’t mean he wasn’t a great player. If he wants this job it means that he loves baseball and wants to stay in baseball. Why are you complaining. He’s actually pretty good at his job
